0:00:02 > 0:00:04The past few days have brought us

0:00:04 > 0:00:07some fairly fine summer-like weather with some sunshine.

0:00:07 > 0:00:08Over the next week or so,

0:00:08 > 0:00:11things are gradually going to be turning rather unsettled.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Here's the scene taken on Saturday

0:00:13 > 0:00:14by one of our weather watchers

0:00:14 > 0:00:15in Dumfries and Galloway

0:00:15 > 0:00:17showing the extent of the sunshine there.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20As we look through the day on Sunday, still some sunshine,

0:00:20 > 0:00:23also a few scattered showers around, but I think, for most places,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25we're looking at a dry day.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27A bit of a northerly breeze developing

0:00:27 > 0:00:29across parts of eastern and south-east England,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31drawing in a little bit more cloud,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33perhaps one or two showers late in the afternoon

0:00:33 > 0:00:35and also we're going to be seeing a few showers

0:00:35 > 0:00:37for north-western parts of Scotland

0:00:37 > 0:00:38and for Northern Ireland,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40but for the rest of the UK, a lot of dry weather

0:00:40 > 0:00:43and in the sunshine, it should feel pleasantly warm -

0:00:43 > 0:00:4421, possibly 22 degrees or so,

0:00:44 > 0:00:46always that little bit cooler

0:00:46 > 0:00:47around the eastern coasts

0:00:47 > 0:00:49of Scotland and England, too.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Heading through Sunday night

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and on into the bank holiday on Monday,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54what we're going to start to see

0:00:54 > 0:00:56is an area of low pressure across the near Continent

0:00:56 > 0:00:58exerting its influence a little bit more

0:00:58 > 0:01:01so strengthening northerly winds across East Anglia

0:01:01 > 0:01:02and the south-east first thing.

0:01:02 > 0:01:03The rest of the country,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06first thing bank holiday Monday, mainly dry,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08a little bit of patchy mist and cloud around.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10But here's that area of low pressure

0:01:10 > 0:01:12which is slowly churning around

0:01:12 > 0:01:13parts of northern France,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15tightening isobars associated with that system

0:01:15 > 0:01:17as that low pressure deepens

0:01:17 > 0:01:18so that means some fairly strong,

0:01:18 > 0:01:19possibly gale force winds

0:01:19 > 0:01:21across parts of the south-east of England,

0:01:21 > 0:01:22East Anglia, too.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25So, the winds here strengthening, cloud pouring in

0:01:25 > 0:01:27and a few sharp showers later in the day,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29initially for the likes of Lincolnshire and Norfolk,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31heading further south down towards Kent.

0:01:31 > 0:01:32For the rest of the country,

0:01:32 > 0:01:33away from the south-east,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35it's a fairly warm and a bright day, too.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Lighter winds here.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Temperatures in Cardiff, for instance,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40up to around 20 degrees,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42just 13 Celsius there in Norwich.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Moving on through bank holiday Monday

0:01:44 > 0:01:45and on into Tuesday,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48low pressure still sitting across parts of France

0:01:48 > 0:01:49so it's quite a slow-moving system,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51starting to fill that area of low pressure,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54but we've still got weather fronts associated with it

0:01:54 > 0:01:56spinning their way northwards across the country.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Some uncertainty by this point in the week,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00but we could see some spells of rain through

0:02:00 > 0:02:02parts of southern England, Wales,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04perhaps up towards northern England and Scotland, too.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Either side of that band of rain,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08there will be some brighter weather

0:02:08 > 0:02:10and temperatures will be starting to push up

0:02:10 > 0:02:12towards the south-east once again

0:02:12 > 0:02:14with the arrival of some showers around, too.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Heading on into the middle part of the week,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18that low pressure drifting its way

0:02:18 > 0:02:20slowly into southern parts of England.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21Again, there's some uncertainty

0:02:21 > 0:02:23about the detail heading on into Wednesday.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25It does look like we've still got that front with us.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27It's fairly slow moving, but, by Wednesday,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30it's likely to affect central parts of Scotland,

0:02:30 > 0:02:31perhaps Northern Ireland as well,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33whereas further south,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35some warmer humid air pouring in from the near Continent,

0:02:35 > 0:02:36but also bringing with it

0:02:36 > 0:02:39a risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Then as we look towards the latter part of the week, then,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44low pressure starting to fill

0:02:44 > 0:02:46to ease away towards the south.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48We've still got that lingering weather front

0:02:48 > 0:02:49set to bring some outbreaks of rain

0:02:49 > 0:02:51as we look towards the end of the week

0:02:51 > 0:02:52so Thursday into Friday,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54we've still got the influence

0:02:54 > 0:02:55of that area of low pressure.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56Then, late next week,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59it starts to push off towards the south

0:02:59 > 0:03:00so most of the rain will clear away.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02High pressure starting to creep in

0:03:02 > 0:03:03from the north-west of the UK.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Now, in between these two systems,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07we could well draw in the breeze

0:03:07 > 0:03:09from an east or north-easterly direction,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11leading to slightly cooler conditions

0:03:11 > 0:03:12around the east coast.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14But, in general, things will become drier

0:03:14 > 0:03:16as we head through the latter part of next week

0:03:16 > 0:03:18with high pressure pushing in.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19We've got a cool breeze developing

0:03:19 > 0:03:20for many eastern areas

0:03:20 > 0:03:23with the warmest and the brightest of the weather

0:03:23 > 0:03:24generally to be found further west.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26But for the rest of the bank holiday weekend,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29most of us should see some sunshine. Bye for now.
