0:00:03 > 0:00:05The weekend brought us plenty of fine and dry weather.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08We had some low cloud around on Sunday that was fairly stubborn.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10It was quite cool around the east coast.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Elsewhere, some sunny spells developing,

0:00:12 > 0:00:15but we had some big shower clouds across the Highlands of Scotland,

0:00:15 > 0:00:16as you can see by this scene

0:00:16 > 0:00:18captured by one of our weather watchers.

0:00:18 > 0:00:22As we head through this week, it's a largely dry start to things.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25There will be some rain arriving through the middle part of the week,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27a cool breeze for many eastern areas,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29with the warmest and brightest weather

0:00:29 > 0:00:30generally to be found in the west.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32As we start bank holiday Monday,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34a bit of an east-west split to things.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Central and eastern parts of England and Scotland fairly cloudy,

0:00:37 > 0:00:38a cold northerly wind blowing,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41particularly for East Anglia and down towards Kent,

0:00:41 > 0:00:42where it will be strong at times.

0:00:42 > 0:00:46Central and western areas having much more in the way of sunshine.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49An isolated shower for Northern Ireland and western Scotland, too,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51but temperatures in the west 21, possibly 22 degrees.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Much cooler where you're exposed

0:00:53 > 0:00:55to that cruel northerly wind in the east.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57But most places staying dry on into the evening.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00And then overnight, what we see is the cloud for eastern areas

0:01:00 > 0:01:01edging its way further west.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03That wind really picking up, too.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05So to start Tuesday, a wet and a windy picture

0:01:05 > 0:01:09across the south-east corner, towards parts of East Anglia, too.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13But elsewhere across the country, it should be a dry start to Tuesday.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16Tuesday sees the influence of this low pressure

0:01:16 > 0:01:18starting to move in from the south-east.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Some uncertainty about exactly how

0:01:20 > 0:01:22that low-pressure system will behave,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25but it looks like it'll throw in a cold front coming in from the east,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27so that will bring some outbreaks of rain

0:01:27 > 0:01:30across the likes of Lincolnshire, down towards the Isle of Wight, too.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Some pretty strong winds for this portion of eastern England.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Further north and west across the country,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37sunshine for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Wales and the south-west, too,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41with temperatures here 21 degrees or so.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Much cooler in the east under the cloud and with the rain

0:01:43 > 0:01:46and that cool northerly wind, too.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Heading on to the middle of the week, so on into Wednesday now,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51we've still got this low pressure drifting slowly around.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Looks like it heads further north and west across the country,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57so that frontal system set to bring some rain,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59probably somewhere around parts of northern England,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Wales, the south-west, too.

0:02:01 > 0:02:02A few showers to the south of that,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05but further north, things are remaining dry and settled,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08again, with the highest temperatures further west,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10cooler around that exposed eastern coast.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12We've got this area of high pressure

0:02:12 > 0:02:14out to the north and north-west of the UK,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17with the winds rotating around a clockwise direction

0:02:17 > 0:02:19around that high pressure.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21It'll be fairly cool once again on Thursday,

0:02:21 > 0:02:24particularly for northern and eastern parts of the country.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Looks like we'll have some spots of rain further south

0:02:26 > 0:02:28as that weather front tends to fizzle away,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30heading its way southwards.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Warmest of the weather for western areas,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33but only around 12 degrees or so

0:02:33 > 0:02:35for the likes of Aberdeen, and Newcastle, too.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38So we're set to be ending this working week on a largely dry note

0:02:38 > 0:02:41with the influence of that high pressure around.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44But cool winds rotating around that area of high pressure,

0:02:44 > 0:02:46so lots of dry weather, some sunshine,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48especially for western areas.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51A cool breeze and rather more cloud for some eastern areas.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Then if we look a little bit further ahead at what's happening.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58It looks like that situation will hold out on into next weekend.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01So high pressure likely to hold on to the north-west of the UK.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Cool north-easterly breeze for many eastern coasts.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05But further south,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07the winds coming in from more of a south-easterly direction,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10bringing warmer weather to the south-west of England,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12but also the chance of some thunderstorms

0:03:12 > 0:03:14imported from the near continent.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16So mainly dry conditions further ahead.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18That cool breeze continuing in the east.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21It's likely that we'll see a breakdown in the high pressure,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23with rain eventually arriving towards the south-west.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26But that's something we'll be keeping a close eye on

0:03:26 > 0:03:28and we'll keep you up-to-date over the next couple of days.
