0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, thank you for tuning into the weather for the week ahead.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08For the start of the working week, at least for most of us,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10it does look as though the weather is going to go downhill.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13In fact, eastern and south-eastern areas are in for some rain

0:00:13 > 0:00:16and the rain's coming out of the Continent here.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18In fact, this weather system has been plaguing

0:00:18 > 0:00:22parts of Europe in the last few days with some severe thunder storms.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24We are going to be brushed by this weather front.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26But some of the rain could be heavy

0:00:26 > 0:00:29and there could be some thunder and lightning with it as well.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32So let's see how things are panning out from Tuesday morning.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34The rush hour - initially the rain could be

0:00:34 > 0:00:37heavy across the south-east into East Anglia and also Lincolnshire.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41The west, a very different story. Here, in fact, it's the opposite.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43We're waking up to some sunshine, fine conditions

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and that's how it's going to stay for most of the day.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49So from Cornwall through Wales into Northern Ireland and Scotland,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51a beautiful day with some sunshine and balmy.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Look at that, 20 in Belfast, 21 in Glasgow.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57But colder, with some northerly winds there

0:00:57 > 0:01:00particularly around these North Sea coasts.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01And all of this cloudy

0:01:01 > 0:01:05and at times wet weather will be shifting in a westerly

0:01:05 > 0:01:09direction through the course of Tuesday night into Wednesday.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12So Wednesday itself looks generally unsettled across the UK.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16Particularly across England and Wales. Now here's the weather front.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18You can see it draped across northern parts of the country,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20down into Wales as well.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22So these areas will be getting some heavy rainfall.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25In fact, on Wednesday, it's more northern parts of the country

0:01:25 > 0:01:27that could get the really heavy rain.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30The details of exactly where this heavy rain is going to go

0:01:30 > 0:01:33are uncertain, but I think the best message for you,

0:01:33 > 0:01:36middle part of the week is across England and Wales, expect some rain.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, I think

0:01:38 > 0:01:40here we're going to get away with it.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43In fact, in Glasgow, temperatures of around 19 degrees Celsius.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Beautiful weather there in the Western Isles for the middle

0:01:45 > 0:01:47part of the week.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Towards Thursday, things are going to change.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52This area of high pressure around Iceland is going to send

0:01:52 > 0:01:54winds from the north or the north-east

0:01:54 > 0:01:57and they are going to be pushing these weather fronts away.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Imagine the weather fronts here being pushed by these winds.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02The weather fronts will fizzle away.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06That means less rain, but still the remnants of it in the form

0:02:06 > 0:02:08of cloud across the south of the country.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11So I think the best of the weather on Thursday will be across Scotland

0:02:11 > 0:02:13and Northern Ireland,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15and that pattern is going to continue into Friday as well.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17It's a big area of high pressure here.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19It's squeezing out these weather fronts, pushing them

0:02:19 > 0:02:23out of the way and things are settling down into Friday.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25But northerly winds, that's a cool source,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28so temperatures will take a bit of a tumble across some

0:02:28 > 0:02:30parts of the country, 12 for example in Newcastle.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32I don't think it will be higher

0:02:32 > 0:02:36than about 17 degrees across the south of the country.

0:02:36 > 0:02:37Then Friday and into the weekend,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40the high pressure still dominates this portion of Europe.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42One area that we are watching is this low here.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44We'll talk about that in a second,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47but I think the basic message for the weekend is -

0:02:47 > 0:02:50cooler northerly to north-easterly winds with a bit of sunshine,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52it will warm up to close to 20.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56But those North Sea coasts will remain on the chilly side.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59And similar weather, I think, for most of us on Sunday as well.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Early next week, this high pressure that's been stuck here for quite

0:03:02 > 0:03:05some time, will eventually fizzle away, or fade away, that is

0:03:05 > 0:03:08and that low that I showed you on the weather map, is going

0:03:08 > 0:03:13to edge closer to the UK, bringing slightly more unsettled weather.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17So I think the summary for next week is that it is going to

0:03:17 > 0:03:20stay dry, but then as that low pressure nears us,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23things are going to gradually turn a little bit more unsettled,

0:03:23 > 0:03:28a bit more cloud and a greater chance of catching some rainfall.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30So the next few days, a little bit up and down.
