0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. So far this week, the weather pattern has been stuck in repeat,

0:00:06 > 0:00:10so many of us across the southeast have had skies like this,

0:00:10 > 0:00:14a disappointing feel across the beaches of Cleethorpes,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16only highs of 11 Celsius.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18Different story north and west -

0:00:18 > 0:00:23absolutely glorious, not a cloud in the sky in Derrylin, 23 Celsius.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25It looks as though

0:00:25 > 0:00:27the northwest seeing the best of the weather

0:00:27 > 0:00:30on Thursday, but even western fringes,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32starting off overcast,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35will see the cloud nibbled away,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37more sunshine coming through.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39On North Sea coasts, always more cloud,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41and a disappointing 11 to 13 degrees,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44but with some sun, highs of 19 Celsius.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47As we move out of Thursday,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49we could pull in more persistent rain

0:00:49 > 0:00:51across the Northern Isles.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54That will just fringe with northern Scotland

0:00:54 > 0:00:57overnight. Waiting in the North Sea,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00we could see further showery rain to come.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03So, it'll be fairly cloudy, fairly overcast.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Friday looks likely to be quite a dull day

0:01:06 > 0:01:09with showery outbreaks of rain

0:01:09 > 0:01:11drifting their way from east to west,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13particularly in Scotland,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14sheltered fringes in the west

0:01:14 > 0:01:16seeing the best of the sunshine

0:01:16 > 0:01:19but there'll be more cloud around, I suspect,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21and not quite as warm -

0:01:21 > 0:01:2313 to 18 Celsius.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25But there's a change to come

0:01:25 > 0:01:27as we move towards the weekend.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29It's looking pretty decent.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31Mostly dry, hopefully the cloud breaking up,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33with a little more sunshine

0:01:33 > 0:01:35and, as a consequence, it will be warm.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37There's a risk of a few showers

0:01:37 > 0:01:40and that risk is most likely to be

0:01:40 > 0:01:41out to the west,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43but top temperatures likely

0:01:43 > 0:01:45of around 13 to 21 Celsius.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47On Sunday, there's a greater chance

0:01:47 > 0:01:49of more sunshine.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52The high pressure that's been influential

0:01:52 > 0:01:55this week starting to lose its grip

0:01:55 > 0:01:57across the UK, the isobars are opening up,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00lighter winds are likely on Sunday,

0:02:00 > 0:02:01and as a consequence,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04that'll help the cloud break up,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06we'll see more sunshine coming through,

0:02:06 > 0:02:07so quite a pleasant day.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11There is still the risk of disappointing temperatures

0:02:11 > 0:02:14on North Sea coasts as we keep cloud and haar,

0:02:14 > 0:02:15so west again is best,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17in terms of sunshine,

0:02:17 > 0:02:19but not bad in the southeast corner,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21but along these North Sea coasts,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23could be a little disappointing.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Further inland, if the cloud breaks up

0:02:26 > 0:02:27and the sun comes through,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29it'll be pleasant.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30So far this week,

0:02:30 > 0:02:31we've had a very weak jet stream

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and that hasn't been influencing

0:02:33 > 0:02:35the weather. It's almost been

0:02:35 > 0:02:37reverting back on itself

0:02:37 > 0:02:38and allowing that high pressure

0:02:38 > 0:02:40across the far northwest

0:02:40 > 0:02:42to sit there, stationary,

0:02:42 > 0:02:43influencing the story.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45That's been allowing this cold

0:02:45 > 0:02:47northerly flow, dragging in cloud

0:02:47 > 0:02:48off the North Sea,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50and it's produced this real

0:02:50 > 0:02:51northwest-southeast contrast.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54But as we move towards the weekend,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56we're starting to see a change.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57We'll revert back to more of a

0:02:57 > 0:02:58mobile westerly, an area

0:02:58 > 0:03:00of low pressure comes into play

0:03:00 > 0:03:02across the southwest. That'll

0:03:02 > 0:03:04drag up some pretty humid air

0:03:04 > 0:03:06and we could see the potential

0:03:06 > 0:03:07for some thunderstorms,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09starting off in the southwest

0:03:09 > 0:03:12but then developing elsewhere.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14So, early next week, we have

0:03:14 > 0:03:15this warm, humid plume of air,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17temperatures could get

0:03:17 > 0:03:19at least into the mid-20s,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21maybe higher, but, as a consequence,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23that could spark off

0:03:23 > 0:03:26some thundery downpours as well,

0:03:26 > 0:03:27so it's not perfect weather,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29but it looks better in the southeast

0:03:29 > 0:03:30than it has been.
