0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. The weather in the last few days has been pretty stuck.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08We've seen some incredible contrasts

0:00:08 > 0:00:10between the east coast and the west coast.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Here's Cornwall, for example.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15Beautiful sunshine, very warm, into the 20s.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Glasgow got up to 23 degrees.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19The other side of the country,

0:00:19 > 0:00:22the North Sea coast - grey, cloudy, cold, windy,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24and even in London at lunchtime,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27temperatures were between 11 and 13 degrees.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Horrendous for the time of year.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31This cloud will stick around

0:00:31 > 0:00:33through Friday,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35and, if anything, there could be

0:00:35 > 0:00:37some thicker cloud and spots of rain

0:00:37 > 0:00:39for the eastern side of the UK.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Friday, once again,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43big contrasts across the UK.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45First thing, there will be

0:00:45 > 0:00:47sunshine across western areas -

0:00:47 > 0:00:50by the end of the night, lots of clear weather -

0:00:50 > 0:00:52but remaining cloudy

0:00:52 > 0:00:54across western and central areas.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Beautiful weather for the rush hour

0:00:56 > 0:00:58across the Western Isles,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Glasgow, Belfast, the Isle of Man,

0:01:00 > 0:01:01all around the Irish Sea

0:01:01 > 0:01:03and into Wales,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05but a weather front is very close

0:01:05 > 0:01:06to that North Sea coast,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09and you'll notice spots of rain,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11so from Scarborough to Hull, Norwich,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13expect some damp weather in the morning,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15drizzle and mist. Not very pleasant,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17but for Aberystwyth and Plymouth,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19the sun will be shining.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21There's also a fair bit of cloud

0:01:21 > 0:01:23across the Midlands,

0:01:23 > 0:01:24central and southern England.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25It does look as though

0:01:25 > 0:01:27that cloud will fade through the morning,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29but on the other hand,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32the cloud across eastern areas

0:01:32 > 0:01:33is likely to thicken

0:01:33 > 0:01:35with that weather front

0:01:35 > 0:01:36only very slowly moving across

0:01:36 > 0:01:38this part of the country.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Spots of rain from Newcastle to London,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43whereas in the west, we've got that sunshine

0:01:43 > 0:01:46and temperatures should reach the low 20s

0:01:46 > 0:01:48in places. Still chilly on Saturday

0:01:48 > 0:01:49on that North Sea coast,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52but we're starting to see

0:01:52 > 0:01:54that cloud in the east move westwards

0:01:54 > 0:01:56and fall apart,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58so there'll be more sunshine around.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00A few showers developing.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Sunday's a lot warmer,

0:02:02 > 0:02:03around 24 in London,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06but still cool down that North Sea coast

0:02:06 > 0:02:07in that breeze.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Temperatures in Newcastle only around 13,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12but already starting to recover

0:02:12 > 0:02:14in Norwich, 17 Celsius.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16This is the jet stream pattern,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18so there's a bit of a dip here,

0:02:18 > 0:02:19this is called a trough,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21and that arm of the jet stream

0:02:21 > 0:02:23moves from a southwesterly direction.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25That means it's scooping up

0:02:25 > 0:02:27some warm air.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29This is the upper atmospheric pattern,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30this is lower down. You can see

0:02:30 > 0:02:33the wind flowing from the south,

0:02:33 > 0:02:36scooping up that air from the southern climes,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38so things will be warming up,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41so the trend is, at least it's going to stay warm -

0:02:41 > 0:02:44low or mid-20s through Monday and Tuesday,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47but with this southerly flow of air,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49there could be some complications.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51When this jet stream tends to

0:02:51 > 0:02:53dig even further southwards,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56we get "a Spanish plume" -

0:02:56 > 0:02:58an area of low pressure forming here

0:02:58 > 0:03:01which scoops up thunderstorms

0:03:01 > 0:03:02that form across Spain,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05and these storms drift in our direction,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07so not only could it get hot,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09or very warm at the very least,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11through the course of next week,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14we could even see a threat of storms almost anywhere

0:03:14 > 0:03:16across the British Isles.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Let's summarise that, because there is a change on the way

0:03:18 > 0:03:20for the whole of next week.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23At the very least, it'll remain warm and humid,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25a chance of it turning even quite hot,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27high 20s are a possibility,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29with a risk of some thunderstorms.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Bye-bye.
