0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. Sunday brought widespread sunshine to the UK,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08but along the east coast, with the breeze off the sea,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10despite the blue sky, temperatures struggled,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13but in the west of the UK, very warm to hot again.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Porthmadog in Wales, 27.8 Celsius

0:00:15 > 0:00:17and that's the highest temperature

0:00:17 > 0:00:19the UK has seen so far this year.

0:00:19 > 0:00:20The heat in the west,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22coupled with a drier than average spring,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24may explain why your garden's looking

0:00:24 > 0:00:25a little bit dry at the moment.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Not a huge amount of rain in the forecast this week.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29High pressure remains in control.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Your eyes may well be drawn to low pressure,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33but it remains sitting to the west of us this week.

0:00:33 > 0:00:34It can't stay there forever -

0:00:34 > 0:00:36hint, there is a change in the longer term

0:00:36 > 0:00:38and we'll get to that.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40First, the next five days in detail, starting with Monday.

0:00:40 > 0:00:41A bit of patchy low cloud

0:00:41 > 0:00:43across eastern parts to begin the day.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45A few early showers in southern England,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46then for the afternoon,

0:00:46 > 0:00:47scattered showers and thunderstorms

0:00:47 > 0:00:49for western-most parts of the UK

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and a big range of temperatures.

0:00:51 > 0:00:5426, 27 again towards the west is possible,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56but along this east coast, yet again,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58even if you get to see some blue sky

0:00:58 > 0:00:59through patchy low cloud,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01your temperatures will be nowhere near

0:01:01 > 0:01:03where they'll be elsewhere.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05On Tuesday, there's this weather disturbance

0:01:05 > 0:01:07working across the UK, so on Tuesday,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09there is the greatest chance of catching

0:01:09 > 0:01:11a shower or a thunderstorm,

0:01:11 > 0:01:12initially in the west,

0:01:12 > 0:01:15but that threat transferring further east

0:01:15 > 0:01:18along with that weather disturbance as the day goes on.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19Not everybody will see some wet weather.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Around any showers, plenty of dry and quite sunny

0:01:22 > 0:01:24and very warm weather once again.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27On Wednesday, as high pressure starts to nudge back in,

0:01:27 > 0:01:28that shower threat diminishes.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30It doesn't get killed off altogether -

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Could still see the odd heavy downpour towards western parts.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36The arrows indicating still that flow from the North Sea.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Could be a little bit stronger on Wednesday,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41influencing those temperatures, so still that range,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43but for much of the UK, the warmth is there

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and the humidity.

0:01:45 > 0:01:46Now, by Thursday, it's high pressure

0:01:46 > 0:01:48just sitting across the UK.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Looks like the quietest day of the week,

0:01:50 > 0:01:51maybe a light shower somewhere,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53but the vast majority will be dry.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56You can see the flow around that area of high pressure,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59so we're looking at broken cloud, sunny spells.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Temperatures may not be quite so high

0:02:01 > 0:02:02by the time we get to Thursday

0:02:02 > 0:02:05then by Friday, we're looking to the west and to low pressure

0:02:05 > 0:02:07starting to make a move,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09along with some weather fronts our way.

0:02:09 > 0:02:10Whenever high pressure breaks down

0:02:10 > 0:02:12to be replaced with lower pressure,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14a lot of doubt about the timing,

0:02:14 > 0:02:15so don't look at this as something

0:02:15 > 0:02:17that will necessarily happen exactly how it looks

0:02:17 > 0:02:20by Friday, but the trend will be for something

0:02:20 > 0:02:23cloudier and wetter eventually start to come our way from the west.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26But for much of this week, the warmth

0:02:26 > 0:02:27and humidity and some sunshine,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29of course, with the exception

0:02:29 > 0:02:30of those cooler North Sea coasts.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32High pollen for much of the week as well,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34the grass pollen season starting to ramp up.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36That's a whole new set of people being affected.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38The other part of the story this week will be the chance,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40especially during the first half of the week,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Some of those could be torrential,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45not everybody will catch them.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47The picture for next weekend -

0:02:47 > 0:02:49low pressure now really making a move and pushing

0:02:49 > 0:02:51those weather systems across us,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53so things turning more unsettled.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55That's the picture going into next week as well,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57all driven by a stronger jet stream.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00It has been quite quiet recently, and weak,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02but that stronger jet stream across the Atlantic

0:03:02 > 0:03:05bringing those wetter, windier conditions our way.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07It does mean a bit of rain for the garden, though,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10starting this weekend and into next week.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11It'll be breezier too,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13temperatures will start to come down,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15so it's quite a change on the way.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18I have to say, though, with the Atlantic flow taking over,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20it's a westerly flow coming into the UK

0:03:20 > 0:03:23and it does mean some of those eastern coastal parts

0:03:23 > 0:03:25may well start to fare a bit better.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27That's how it's looking in the longer term.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29The forecast for where you are online. Bye-bye.
