0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. The weather is going to look and feel very different

0:00:05 > 0:00:07by the time we get to the weekend and beyond.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09All the heat and humidity again on Wednesday

0:00:09 > 0:00:12triggered some thunderstorms.

0:00:12 > 0:00:13This picture was taken in Greater London.

0:00:13 > 0:00:17There was some flooding to the west of London, around Birmingham,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20to the north of Manchester and Ambleside, as well.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22All thanks to the heat and humidity.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23We had temperatures of 26 degrees.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Not far behind during Thursday.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29But after that, temperatures are going to get much lower.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31It will be cooler and fresher

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and there'll be some rain around, as well.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Now, not much rain at all on Thursday.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Indeed, after the mist and fog goes quickly

0:00:38 > 0:00:41and the low cloud in the east more slowly,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43it'll be a dry day for most with sunny spells.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46One or two showers for northern parts of the UK,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49but not a repeat of the thundery downpours of the last few days.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51So it'll feel pleasant in the sunshine.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Temperatures low to perhaps mid-20s.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57But we will see those showers lingering into the evening

0:00:57 > 0:00:58and overnight.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Eventually, across eastern Scotland, north-east England,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04perhaps some longer spells of rain by the end of the night.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06A lot of cloud around.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Again, a bit more mist and fog.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11And away from the north-east, where it's still rather chilly,

0:01:11 > 0:01:15temperatures will be on the high side. Another muggy night ahead.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18We got the muggy air out of this weather front here.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Fresher air is coming in behind it.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24But it's a bit of a messy sort of transition, really, on Friday.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27They'll be a lot of cloud. There may be some hazy sunshine around.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29But we'll have some showers,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31maybe some longer spells of rain coming in from the west.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33Some heavy bursts of rain, too.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34As a result of more cloud,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37temperatures won't be quite as high on Friday.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41But it's still going to be quite a muggy, humid feel to the day.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45That fresher air, though, comes in behind all that rain overnight

0:01:45 > 0:01:47and in time for the weekend.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49And instead, our weather is going to be shaped

0:01:49 > 0:01:52by a big area of low pressure that's moving slowly in from the Atlantic.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54So Saturday, we could start with some rain

0:01:54 > 0:01:56for eastern Scotland, eastern England.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58It pushes through and it brightens up.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01We get some sunshine and some showers.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03The winds turning rather blustery in the south-west later on.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07And this weather front will pep up the rain again overnight

0:02:07 > 0:02:08and into Sunday.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12The low pressure quite slow-moving, becoming stretched out, if you like.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14So really a messy sort of picture on Sunday.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18Showers, maybe some longer spells of rain. Not ruling out some sunshine.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20And temperatures about 17 to 20 degrees.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23It's about where they should be for this time of the year.

0:02:23 > 0:02:24So low pressure...

0:02:24 > 0:02:28We end up sitting more to the north of the UK on Monday.

0:02:28 > 0:02:33Some brisker winds for southern parts of England, Wales, Midlands,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35northern England, perhaps Northern Ireland,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37where we'll find quite a few showers.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39But at least they shouldn't last too long.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Lighter winds for Scotland,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43where we're going to find some longer spells of rain.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46This is the pattern that we've got right now.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48The jet stream is buckled in this sort of shape.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50So we're in the warmer dome of air

0:02:50 > 0:02:53that we've got with that configuration,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56warm and sticky air that's across the UK.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Run things on into next week, the jet stream much further south.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03So that allows cooler, fresher air

0:03:03 > 0:03:07to come down from the north across the whole of the UK.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10And we end up with low pressure sitting roughly here

0:03:10 > 0:03:12through most of next week,

0:03:12 > 0:03:17drawing in cooler air on a fresher breeze from the north-west.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20So temperatures near or perhaps just below average.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24We're going to continue to see some spells of rain. Some sunshine, too.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28Maybe drier in the south at the end of the week.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29That's it. Goodbye.
