0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. After a few days of very warm,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06muggy air and a few thunderstorms,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08the weather is going to change over the week ahead.

0:00:08 > 0:00:12We look at the situation that we've seen over the past few days -

0:00:12 > 0:00:14this is the position of the jet stream.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16It's been quite kinked over the UK,

0:00:16 > 0:00:20but it's allowed us to draw in this warmer and humid air.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23The jet stream is quite weak and it looks like it's going to

0:00:23 > 0:00:27change orientation over the next couple of days.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Right now, though, we've got some showers in the story for Friday,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33particularly developing across more northern parts of the UK.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35We could see some patchy rain, though, slipping into the far

0:00:35 > 0:00:39south-west of England, possibly into the south-west of Wales as well.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41More cloud around, certainly, on Friday.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43But still some hazy sunshine

0:00:43 > 0:00:45and for most of the day, it'll be dry across the south-east

0:00:45 > 0:00:48and East Anglia and this is where it will still feel quite warm as well.

0:00:48 > 0:00:52But much cooler, I think, for Scotland, notably in Glasgow.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54We'll see some more of those showers continuing overnight.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Some more organised rain coming into Wales, the south-west,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00maybe some southern parts of England towards the south-east as well.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02A lot of cloud around, certainly,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04so that is going to keep the temperatures on the high side.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Except to the north of the rain in Scotland.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09We've got a weather front on the scene across northern

0:01:09 > 0:01:11parts of the UK, but this is going to be the main driving force

0:01:11 > 0:01:13of our weather as we head through the weekend.

0:01:13 > 0:01:14It's still a long way off,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17but it will push in showers or longer spells of rain.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19The longer spells of rain and drizzle will mainly

0:01:19 > 0:01:23be across Scotland on Saturday, so quite a cool-feeling day here.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26The rest of the UK seeing some sunshine at times,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but there will be some showers around as well.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31A few heavier ones across western parts of England and Wales.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34But still in some sunshine in this muggy air

0:01:34 > 0:01:36and it should feel quite warm again.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Now as we head through to the second half of the weekend, we're going

0:01:39 > 0:01:42to find this area of low pressure pushing weather fronts our way.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45So we're going to find the cloud thickening up

0:01:45 > 0:01:48and there'll be some outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing across

0:01:48 > 0:01:51many parts of the country, possibly replaced by some breezier

0:01:51 > 0:01:55conditions in the south-west and maybe a few showers as well.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Probably going to be a drier day for Scotland, but still not that warm.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Temperatures will be a little lower for many

0:02:00 > 0:02:03parts of the country by Sunday.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Quite a tangle, if you like, of weather fronts.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08Quite a complicated picture on Monday.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10It simplifies, though, as we head into Tuesday.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13So we're looking at some showers, some longer spells of rain,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16some breezy conditions across southern parts of England

0:02:16 > 0:02:19and Wales and the far north of Scotland as well.

0:02:19 > 0:02:2116 degrees in the central belt.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Possibly 20 in London if you're lucky.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26More simplified, as I say, on Tuesday.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Remove all the fronts, essentially what you've got is

0:02:28 > 0:02:31an area of low pressure that is sitting very close to the UK.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34For many of us, there's not much wind at all,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37so the showers will be slow moving. Could be heavy as well.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39A fresher, stronger breeze across southern parts of England

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and Wales once again.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45So let's head beyond Tuesday and we looked at the jet stream

0:02:45 > 0:02:48earlier on and this is how it's looking next week.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50I said it was changing position.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52It's diving much further south allowing us

0:02:52 > 0:02:54to go into the cooler air.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56But again, we could see another kink

0:02:56 > 0:02:59in the jet stream pushing in later next week.

0:02:59 > 0:03:00In that cooler air,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03we're going to be sitting close to an area of low pressure.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06That, though, may just shrink or retreat away towards Scandinavia

0:03:06 > 0:03:10later on in the week, allowing, with that kink in the jet stream,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13to push in a ridge of high pressure towards the UK,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15perhaps settling things down for a while.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18But on the whole, still very unsettled, some rain at times,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21some slow-moving downpours with light winds.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25Drier maybe later on next week, but possibly only briefly.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29More details, I'll be back with those again tomorrow. Goodbye.
