0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. It's that time in the day where we take a look further forward

0:00:06 > 0:00:08and look at the weather trend over the next six to ten days.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10This week the trend has been to lose

0:00:10 > 0:00:12the sunshine, really,

0:00:12 > 0:00:15and the high temperatures, but we did at least see a little sunshine

0:00:15 > 0:00:18during the day on Saturday, thanks to our weather watchers in Cornwall.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21But we had some intense storms, this was in Stockport as well,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23through the latter part of the afternoon

0:00:23 > 0:00:26and the intense storms have again led to flash flooding.

0:00:26 > 0:00:27Now those storms will take a while

0:00:27 > 0:00:28to fizzle out through

0:00:28 > 0:00:30the evening, but will do overnight

0:00:30 > 0:00:32and then it's a grey and a murky picture

0:00:32 > 0:00:34to start Sunday with another weather system

0:00:34 > 0:00:35coming in, as well as

0:00:35 > 0:00:36the one we have across Scotland,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38keeping things rather damp

0:00:38 > 0:00:39and grey and murky here.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41The energy from this next weather system

0:00:41 > 0:00:42will inject more moisture

0:00:42 > 0:00:44into the atmosphere and again the risk

0:00:44 > 0:00:46of some more severe thunderstorms,

0:00:46 > 0:00:47torrential downpours

0:00:47 > 0:00:48across England and Wales,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50possibly Northern Ireland

0:00:50 > 0:00:52and the south-west of Scotland.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53Those storms again then

0:00:53 > 0:00:55through Sunday evening will tend to

0:00:55 > 0:00:56fizzle out and again

0:00:56 > 0:00:58it'll be uncomfortably close by night

0:00:58 > 0:00:59but the mist and fog returning

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and yet another band of showery rain

0:01:01 > 0:01:03coming back in for the start

0:01:03 > 0:01:04of the new week.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06So the trend for rather cloudy,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08misty, grey mornings and then

0:01:08 > 0:01:09quite showery afternoons continues

0:01:09 > 0:01:10through Sunday and into Monday.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12And that's because we've got low pressure

0:01:12 > 0:01:14sitting to the west of us

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and throwing in these weather systems

0:01:16 > 0:01:18into what is already very moist and humid air,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20so Monday looks as if we could,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22once again, have some torrential downpours,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24especially for England and Wales,

0:01:24 > 0:01:25not exclusively. Further north

0:01:25 > 0:01:27we have the remnants of the weather front.

0:01:27 > 0:01:28The far north of Scotland,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30as we've seen through Saturday

0:01:30 > 0:01:31and again on Sunday will have

0:01:31 > 0:01:32some very decent weather.

0:01:32 > 0:01:33It's fresher up here.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34That fresher air will eventually

0:01:34 > 0:01:36make its way southwards

0:01:36 > 0:01:37across the rest of the country,

0:01:37 > 0:01:38but not through Monday.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39And indeed not through Tuesday.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41That low pressure makes

0:01:41 > 0:01:42a little further progress

0:01:42 > 0:01:44eastwards during Monday night and into Tuesday.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46It's still a very slow moving

0:01:46 > 0:01:47or meandering low pressure,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49so that means a lot of our showers

0:01:49 > 0:01:50will have little winds

0:01:50 > 0:01:51surrounding them,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53so they will last a while as we've seen.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55We're just starting to feel that effect

0:01:55 > 0:01:57of the fresher air already in the north

0:01:57 > 0:01:59and the weather system with it on Tuesday.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Elsewhere, sunny spells

0:02:01 > 0:02:02and scattered heavy showers.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05But it will start to feel a little bit fresher

0:02:05 > 0:02:08and more comfortable for sleeping by night.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10As we get towards Wednesday,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12we're starting to see that northerly wind

0:02:12 > 0:02:14affecting more areas of Scotland,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16so we'll start to feel the fresher effect here

0:02:16 > 0:02:18and hopefully it'll break up the cloud,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but still there'll be showers in the forecast

0:02:20 > 0:02:21and still temperatures

0:02:21 > 0:02:23into the mid- to high teens,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25so although we're dropping our humidity,

0:02:25 > 0:02:26we're still achieving temperatures

0:02:26 > 0:02:28of around average for the time of year.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29And then the low pressure

0:02:29 > 0:02:30drifts into the North Sea

0:02:30 > 0:02:33and high pressure starts to encroach

0:02:33 > 0:02:34from the Atlantic

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and that's coming in for the latter part

0:02:36 > 0:02:37of the coming week,

0:02:37 > 0:02:38but for Thursday, again,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40it does look particularly unsettled -

0:02:40 > 0:02:43further spells of showery rain

0:02:43 > 0:02:44and some heavy ones.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46But that northerly breeze makes it feel fresher.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Thereafter, as I mentioned,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51that low pressure which will be with us for much of the week

0:02:51 > 0:02:54starts to drift away and that high pressure comes in.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55That Azores high

0:02:55 > 0:02:56comes in temporarily

0:02:56 > 0:02:58because after the coming weekend,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00it looks as if that will be

0:03:00 > 0:03:01scooted out of the way

0:03:01 > 0:03:02and it looks as if the jet stream

0:03:02 > 0:03:04will once again strengthen.

0:03:04 > 0:03:05The jet stream, remember,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08the upper winds that drive in the low pressures across the Atlantic.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10It does look as if things will become

0:03:10 > 0:03:12what we call more mobile again.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13So further weather systems,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16bringing showers or indeed longer spells of rain,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17which is pretty much

0:03:17 > 0:03:19how this week is shaping up,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20although it will feel fresher,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22a little bit cooler by night,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23between those showers

0:03:23 > 0:03:25and we will have that drier period

0:03:25 > 0:03:26very briefly before it turns

0:03:26 > 0:03:27much more unsettled

0:03:27 > 0:03:28once again

0:03:28 > 0:03:30after the following weekend.
