0:00:03 > 0:00:06The weekend's weather forecast was a bit of a dog's dinner,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08so it's now time to take a look further ahead to see

0:00:08 > 0:00:11if there's any drier weather on the horizon.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14Not for Monday. As we start the week, we've got similar problems.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16Morning mist and fog, dank, drizzly weather.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18Hill fog as well underneath

0:00:18 > 0:00:20these weather fronts in the north and south.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24But, again, that's the moisture which will add into the system

0:00:24 > 0:00:27the potential for more showers and some thunderstorms around.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30So watch out for those into the evening rush hour.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32The exception being the far north-east of Scotland,

0:00:32 > 0:00:36just like this weekend, having some glorious sunshine.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38The through Monday evening and overnight,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41the storms and heavy showers will tend to ease down.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43We'll still have lots of drizzly rain around.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45That low pressure's coming close by.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47So it's going to be another mild

0:00:47 > 0:00:49and muggy night away from the far north of Scotland.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51That's where the fresher air is.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55But low pressure is going to be the culprit for all these showers

0:00:55 > 0:00:56through the coming week.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58It pretty much doesn't move, really.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00There aren't many isobars around,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03which means that the showers will be quite static, nothing to move them

0:01:03 > 0:01:07away and that's why we'll have some mist in the morning as well.

0:01:07 > 0:01:08So we go to Tuesday.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11We've got the low pressure sat across the country and again,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14where we've got some sunshine that will add the fuel

0:01:14 > 0:01:16to some pretty big showers again.

0:01:16 > 0:01:20We're starting to see temperatures dipping down a degree or two,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23a little bit fresher up in the north and east and some rain,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25potentially, as well for the north-east of Scotland

0:01:25 > 0:01:27as these weather fronts swing further northwards.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31But, again, by Wednesday it's sat across the country.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34The only change, really, is that we start to drag in a bit

0:01:34 > 0:01:37more of a northerly breeze across the far north of Scotland.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40But also, that weather front bringing an end to the sunshine

0:01:40 > 0:01:42for some parts of north-east Scotland and the northern isles.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45But for the rest of us, the best of the sunshine will be

0:01:45 > 0:01:49around the coast because most of the showers will form inland.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51By Thursday, more of the northerly flow

0:01:51 > 0:01:52will affect much of the country.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54But the low pressure is still around.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57So it is still a sunny spells and showers scenario

0:01:57 > 0:01:58for most of us, as you can see.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01It'll start to feel fresher, though, through Wednesday

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and Thursday we'll notice something a little bit fresher, not so humid.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Even in the sunshine feeling pleasant

0:02:06 > 0:02:08and the nights will be more refreshing.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Actually, around the coasts,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13we may not see many showers and we might see some good

0:02:13 > 0:02:17spells of sunshine because the temperatures are slightly lower.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18But, unfortunately,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21that doesn't apply to the North Sea coasts where we've had that onshore

0:02:21 > 0:02:24breeze for days now, bringing in low cloud and drizzly weather.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27So that situation is likely to remain.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Now, come Friday, still very showery in central and eastern areas,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33but look out towards the west - the high pressure's starting to

0:02:33 > 0:02:36move in, a ridge of high pressure coming in towards the weekend.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Temperatures are a little low. It's already a little bit fresher

0:02:38 > 0:02:40because of the north wind, by that stage.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42But for most of us,

0:02:42 > 0:02:47at least one day this coming weekend will be fine and dry, we think.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50That's because we've got a ridge of high pressure moving in.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53So, as we move into the new week. Let's go back to Monday, we've got

0:02:53 > 0:02:56the low pressure which only slowly eases away.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00The northerly wind comes in. For the weekend, briefly high pressure.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04So certainly eastern areas having possibly Sunday better,

0:03:04 > 0:03:08western areas possibly Saturday because it's not long after,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11through Sunday, that we start to see the next areas of low pressure.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15Mobility starting again with those low pressures coming in off

0:03:15 > 0:03:18the Atlantic to bring more unsettled weather beyond next weekend.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20But for the coming week,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22it looks as if we'll be plagued by heavy showers again.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24We'll put the detail on day to day.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26It will start to feel fresher, though, and then there'll be

0:03:26 > 0:03:29some drier weather, we think, towards the weekend.
