0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Coming into work yesterday,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07I heard somebody use the phrase "flaming June".

0:00:07 > 0:00:11But perhaps not quite in the context that it's intended.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Looking back at some of the Weather Watchers' photographs through today,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18you can really understand why it's been wet at times.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21Stormy often, with some dramatic thunderstorms.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Even some funnel clouds being sent in

0:00:23 > 0:00:25on our Weather Watchers' pictures.

0:00:25 > 0:00:26The intensity of those storms...

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Well, they've caused some localised flooding.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30But by complete contrast,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33the Northern Isles have seen some beautiful weather this week.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Orkney and Shetland, plenty of blue sky and sunshine.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Why?

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Well, an area of low pressure has been sitting across the country.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43It's been driving this pause-rewind-repeat story

0:00:43 > 0:00:46of plenty of showers for many of us.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49It does look as though, as we head towards the weekend, though,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51we will start to see a change.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54For Thursday, though, it's back to same old same old.

0:00:54 > 0:00:55Starting off quiet.

0:00:55 > 0:00:56Through England and Wales,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59we'll see some showers developing through the course of the day.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Some of them heavy, possibly slow-moving and thundery again.

0:01:02 > 0:01:03To the far north of Scotland,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06we'll have some outbreaks of light, patchy rain.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10But still a cooler feel here generally - 11 to 15 degrees.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Further south, in the sunshine, if you dodged the showers,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15highest values of 20 Celsius.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Now, most of the showers will start to ease

0:01:17 > 0:01:20through Thursday night, into Friday,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22and drift that little bit further south.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26It's going to be a relatively mild night, nine to 14 degrees.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29But the area of low pressure is starting to push its way southwards.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32So on Friday, it looks as though most of the showers

0:01:32 > 0:01:34will be confined south of the M4 corridor.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38We'll also, at the same time, pick up more cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:01:38 > 0:01:41across eastern Scotland and north-east England.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Here, it stays cool and disappointing.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Further south, highest values again

0:01:45 > 0:01:49of around 18, 19, possibly 20 degrees.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51By the weekend, though, we're likely to see a change.

0:01:51 > 0:01:55This ridge of high pressure starts to build from the south-west.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58It's a fleeting glimpse of something a little quieter,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00but at least it arrives for the weekend.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03And hopefully, we should see a good deal of dry weather.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07Fingers crossed, even a little bit of sunshine from time to time.

0:02:07 > 0:02:08So if we start Saturday, then,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11there will be some drier, brighter weather coming through.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13And it does look as though most of us

0:02:13 > 0:02:15should see some sunshine from time to time.

0:02:15 > 0:02:1812 to 18 degrees, the overall high.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20By the time we get into Sunday,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22there is an outside chance of a weak weather front

0:02:22 > 0:02:25producing a few showers out to the west, nothing significant.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28The best of the sunshine likely to be the further east you are.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32And again, highs of 15 to 19 degrees.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35But that area of high pressure is squeezed out of the way

0:02:35 > 0:02:38and another area of low moves in, bringing wet and windy weather.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40The isobars squeezing together

0:02:40 > 0:02:44and that'll be more of a significant feature for the start of next week.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47It's going to take its time in arriving,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50probably not getting into much of the eastern half of the UK

0:02:50 > 0:02:52until the end of the day on Monday.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54But it will bring outbreaks of rain, strong winds,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56albeit from a southerly direction.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59So a milder feel, with highs of 21 degrees,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01if you keep the sun.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04And then into next week, to the longer six to ten-day period.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06We start to see this battleground,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08with the high pressure down to the south-west

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and low pressure up into the north-west,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12where the isobars remain a feature.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15And this is going to be the level of uncertainty...

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Just how much wet weather

0:03:17 > 0:03:20we're likely to see and where it's going to be.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21At the moment, it looks likely

0:03:21 > 0:03:23that the north-west stays pretty unsettled.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Fingers crossed, some of us in the south

0:03:26 > 0:03:28will see some drier, sunnier moments.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30I'll firm up on it tomorrow.

0:03:32 > 0:03:32Who did you say you were?

0:03:32 > 0:03:33I'm the police.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35The police were there?
