0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. The weather is turning a bit quieter for all of us
0:00:06 > 0:00:07as we head into the weekend.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09That's good news after a pretty dramatic week of weather.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11That's been captured by our Weather Watchers.
0:00:11 > 0:00:13He was a thunderstorm earlier on
0:00:13 > 0:00:15on Friday in Brackley, Northamptonshire.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18You can see the big storm clouds with thunder and lightning.
0:00:18 > 0:00:20It's not been raining everywhere.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22We have had decent spells of sunshine
0:00:22 > 0:00:25in between some of those hefty shower clouds too.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27But as we head through Saturday and Sunday,
0:00:27 > 0:00:29we'll see a ridge of high pressure
0:00:29 > 0:00:31in charge of the weather,
0:00:31 > 0:00:32weather fronts trying to push in
0:00:32 > 0:00:34from the west later on Sunday.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37They will tend to bump into that area of high pressure.
0:00:37 > 0:00:39So Saturday shaping up to be a fairly fine day.
0:00:39 > 0:00:42Certainly much drier compared to recently.
0:00:42 > 0:00:43Still quite cloudy
0:00:43 > 0:00:44for central and eastern areas
0:00:44 > 0:00:46where there could be
0:00:46 > 0:00:47one or two isolated showers.
0:00:47 > 0:00:49Further north and west,
0:00:49 > 0:00:51plenty of sunshine for Scotland, Wales too.
0:00:51 > 0:00:53We could see temperatures in Birmingham
0:00:53 > 0:00:54up to around 19 degrees.
0:00:54 > 0:00:56So a relatively decent day on Saturday.
0:00:56 > 0:00:58As we end the day, the cloud in the east thins,
0:00:58 > 0:00:59so some late brightness.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02Into the early hours of Sunday morning, most places dry,
0:01:02 > 0:01:04but you'll notice this patchy light rain
0:01:04 > 0:01:06pushing into western areas.
0:01:06 > 0:01:07That's the front coming in
0:01:07 > 0:01:09bumping into that high pressure,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11tending to fizzle out this initial front.
0:01:11 > 0:01:12It will bring drizzle
0:01:12 > 0:01:14to parts of Northern Ireland, western Scotland,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16Wales and the south-west of England
0:01:16 > 0:01:17at times on Sunday.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19Eastern areas have another decent day,
0:01:19 > 0:01:21with sunny spells lasting through the day
0:01:21 > 0:01:24and temperatures up to 21 Celsius.
0:01:24 > 0:01:25But a second band of heavier rain
0:01:25 > 0:01:27heads in across western areas,
0:01:27 > 0:01:28particularly for Northern Ireland,
0:01:28 > 0:01:30Western Scotland later in the day.
0:01:30 > 0:01:32There's the front that brought the rain
0:01:32 > 0:01:33on Sunday to western areas.
0:01:33 > 0:01:34By the time we get to Monday,
0:01:34 > 0:01:36it will have moved across the country
0:01:36 > 0:01:37heading eastwards.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Still some rain lingering for a time
0:01:39 > 0:01:40during the day on Monday,
0:01:40 > 0:01:41quite a blustery day too.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43There could be some spells of rain
0:01:43 > 0:01:45initially for some eastern
0:01:45 > 0:01:46and southern parts of the country.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48That's followed from the west
0:01:48 > 0:01:49with fresher conditions
0:01:49 > 0:01:51and a return to sunshine and scattered showers.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54In the east, temperatures up to 19 degrees or so.
0:01:54 > 0:01:55Not a bad day.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58Tuesday looks like the quietest day of the week.
0:01:58 > 0:01:59Once that front has gone,
0:01:59 > 0:02:01we're left with a south-westerly airflow,
0:02:01 > 0:02:03a bit windy towards the far north-west.
0:02:03 > 0:02:05Elsewhere, relatively light winds,
0:02:05 > 0:02:0621 degrees or so.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08Looking into the middle of the week,
0:02:08 > 0:02:10we've got a big area of high pressure
0:02:10 > 0:02:12holding on towards the south-east,
0:02:12 > 0:02:13so situated across
0:02:13 > 0:02:16central parts of continental Europe.
0:02:16 > 0:02:17Meanwhile, a front is trying
0:02:17 > 0:02:18to head in from the Atlantic.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20So, for Wednesday, we're set to see
0:02:20 > 0:02:21some spells of rain
0:02:21 > 0:02:23for northern and western areas for a time.
0:02:23 > 0:02:25Further south and east,
0:02:25 > 0:02:27you should see drier and brighter weather
0:02:27 > 0:02:28and temperatures on the rise.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31Up to around 23 degrees towards the London region.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34So that warming trend continues through Wednesday
0:02:34 > 0:02:35and on into Thursday
0:02:35 > 0:02:36as we start to draw in
0:02:36 > 0:02:38air from a southerly direction
0:02:38 > 0:02:40around that area of high pressure,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42at least to the southern half of the country.
0:02:42 > 0:02:43So, further ahead,
0:02:43 > 0:02:44later next week we'll see
0:02:44 > 0:02:46a bit of a kink in the jet stream.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50Ahead of that jet stream, this is looking into Thursday now,
0:02:50 > 0:02:53we'll draw in that fairly warm, humid air
0:02:53 > 0:02:55towards southern parts of the country,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57whereas low pressure will affect the far North.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00So there could be spells of rain for Scotland, Northern Ireland too.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Further south and east, warm and humid,
0:03:03 > 0:03:06but the chance of some thundery downpours at times.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09Into next weekend it looks like the jet stream flattens out a bit.
0:03:09 > 0:03:12We have high pressure keeping things dry and settled in southern areas.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15Low pressure moves in from the Atlantic further north.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18Again a bit of a split as we head into next weekend.
0:03:18 > 0:03:19Some unsettled weather
0:03:19 > 0:03:22in northern and north-western parts of the country with some rain.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24Further south, we're likely to see drier,
0:03:24 > 0:03:27warmer and brighter conditions developing.
0:03:27 > 0:03:28Things looking fairly unsettled,
0:03:28 > 0:03:31but we'll keep you up-to-date right here. Bye-bye.
