0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. Well, at last, Saturday brought much, much quieter
0:00:06 > 0:00:08weather to the UK after what's been a very turbulent
0:00:08 > 0:00:10and, in places, very stormy week we've seen.
0:00:10 > 0:00:13Cumulonimbus thunder clouds piling high into the sky,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15dropping huge amounts of rain and hail
0:00:15 > 0:00:17and causing flooding for some of you.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20At least we go into the new week on a much quieter note,
0:00:20 > 0:00:23to a certain extent. Not a drier one
0:00:23 > 0:00:25because we've got a weak weather front
0:00:25 > 0:00:26in the west first thing Sunday and then
0:00:26 > 0:00:28a more active one pushing in later in the day
0:00:28 > 0:00:30with stronger winds wrapped around
0:00:30 > 0:00:32that deep area of low pressure.
0:00:32 > 0:00:33The day starts off fairly quiet.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35Sunniest towards eastern areas,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37brighter weather lasting longest in East Anglia,
0:00:37 > 0:00:39the south-east and around the Moray Firth,
0:00:39 > 0:00:41we could see temperatures around 20 degrees here
0:00:41 > 0:00:43but further west, patchy rain in the morning
0:00:43 > 0:00:44replaced by something heavier
0:00:44 > 0:00:46into the afternoon and some gusty winds.
0:00:46 > 0:00:48Winds however coming from the south and the south-west
0:00:48 > 0:00:50so temperatures won't fall away too much.
0:00:50 > 0:00:53Still looking at highs of around 16 to 18 degrees.
0:00:53 > 0:00:55That rain then pushes its way across
0:00:55 > 0:00:56all other parts of the UK
0:00:56 > 0:00:58as we go through Sunday night.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00It may linger across the south-east corner
0:01:00 > 0:01:02as we go into Monday morning but extensive low cloud
0:01:02 > 0:01:04through Sunday night into Monday
0:01:04 > 0:01:06and a very humid, muggy one once again
0:01:06 > 0:01:08but it's a fairly short-lived spell
0:01:08 > 0:01:11of humid weather, at least to begin with.
0:01:11 > 0:01:14The breeze will shepherd in some fresher air through Monday itself,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16perhaps holding on to the more humid air
0:01:16 > 0:01:18towards the south-east and East Anglia
0:01:18 > 0:01:19for that bit longer before the rain clears.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22A few heavy showers, maybe the odd rumble of thunder,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24but not as intense as we saw through the week.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26And then, as you can see, sunny spells
0:01:26 > 0:01:28and only isolated showers by the end of the day.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30Temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.
0:01:30 > 0:01:33We continue with that feed of winds off the Atlantic as we go
0:01:33 > 0:01:34through the night and into Tuesday.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37Another area of low pressure, a smaller one,
0:01:37 > 0:01:40pushing in towards the north-west of the UK late in the day.
0:01:40 > 0:01:41Winds lightest across the south
0:01:41 > 0:01:43so we will start here with some mist, low cloud
0:01:43 > 0:01:45and some patchy fog, brightening up
0:01:45 > 0:01:46with some sunny spells later on.
0:01:46 > 0:01:49We're going to see outbreaks of rain, mainly for parts of Scotland
0:01:49 > 0:01:52and Northern Ireland but even here, some brighter weather too.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54It'll be pleasant enough in the sunshine.
0:01:54 > 0:01:55Into Wednesday, a band of showery rain
0:01:55 > 0:01:57trying to push its way eastwards
0:01:57 > 0:01:59but then getting caught up in a developing
0:01:59 > 0:02:02south-to-south-westerly airflow and with that,
0:02:02 > 0:02:04we start to see humidity levels creep up again
0:02:04 > 0:02:07and a few heavy showers towards the south-west.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09In fact, for later in the week,
0:02:09 > 0:02:12we tap into the humid air across Europe once again.
0:02:12 > 0:02:13The drift of that, it will only be
0:02:13 > 0:02:15slowly northwards across the UK
0:02:15 > 0:02:17so it'll be only southern areas
0:02:17 > 0:02:18affected by and large.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20As you can see, we can see some heavy showers,
0:02:20 > 0:02:21maybe the odd rumble of thunder
0:02:21 > 0:02:23as that weather system pushes away but it still
0:02:23 > 0:02:25holds on to eastern areas
0:02:25 > 0:02:27as we go through into Thursday.
0:02:27 > 0:02:28Another low out to the west of Ireland,
0:02:28 > 0:02:32all helping to maintain this drift of air northwards.
0:02:32 > 0:02:33Nothing desperately strong,
0:02:33 > 0:02:36never overly humid the further north we go
0:02:36 > 0:02:38but it's across this part of England and Wales once again -
0:02:38 > 0:02:41we're going to have to watch the forecast very closely.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43It's going to be difficult to pinpoint the exact
0:02:43 > 0:02:46details of these, certainly through Thursday and indeed for Friday
0:02:46 > 0:02:48but with those low pressure systems around, humidity levels
0:02:48 > 0:02:51creeping up, yes, we are likely to see some thunderstorms.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53So a quieter start to the week.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56The end of the week though, those thunderstorms will return.
0:02:56 > 0:02:58As I said, southern and eastern areas most prone.
0:02:58 > 0:03:01But while we finish the week with that,
0:03:01 > 0:03:03it looks like the jet stream
0:03:03 > 0:03:05will return once again next weekend.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07That will push away the really humid air.
0:03:07 > 0:03:08Low pressure systems
0:03:08 > 0:03:10pushing close to the north and the west
0:03:10 > 0:03:13and hopefully a zone of high exerting its influence
0:03:13 > 0:03:17through southern areas at times into next weekend and beyond.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20What does that mean is that close to areas of low pressure,
0:03:20 > 0:03:22it's mainly north and west UK, we're likely to see some rain at times.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25It will push its way southwards and eastwards once again
0:03:25 > 0:03:27but southern areas always tending to be that bit drier.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30Crucial, of course, because we've got Glastonbury next weekend
0:03:30 > 0:03:32and the following week, the start of Wimbledon.
