0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, there. An interesting week of weather coming up.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07For some of us, it's going to get wetter -

0:00:07 > 0:00:09for others, it's going to get a good deal drier,

0:00:09 > 0:00:11which will be good news if you're a festivalgoer -

0:00:11 > 0:00:13it was a rather muddy start to proceedings down in Glastonbury.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14I think, on balance,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17things will begin to dry out over the next few days,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20but we're not there yet, and in the short term,

0:00:20 > 0:00:21some torrential rain likely -

0:00:21 > 0:00:24to the south and east of Glastonbury, principally,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26the south-eastern parts of the UK.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Flooding certainly possible - there are warnings in force.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Be prepared for significant disruption from thunderstorms

0:00:32 > 0:00:34through the early part of the day.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36They'll tend to ease off for a time,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38only to return, we think, later on in the day.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Meanwhile, at the other end of the country,

0:00:40 > 0:00:41a much brighter affair.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43That said, there will be some showers

0:00:43 > 0:00:45across Scotland, mostly out west -

0:00:45 > 0:00:47the best of the sunshine across the more eastern areas -

0:00:47 > 0:00:49but we won't have the humidity here

0:00:49 > 0:00:50which we will have further south-east.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53Some sharp showers heading into Northern Ireland

0:00:53 > 0:00:54through the afternoon, this is four o'clock,

0:00:54 > 0:00:57but a lot of sunshine extending from the Scottish Borders

0:00:57 > 0:01:00down through northern and western parts of England and Wales -

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and, yes, for Glastonbury, I think we'll get away with it

0:01:02 > 0:01:03through Thursday.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Different story, though, across the south-east,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08where, again, showers will crop up.

0:01:08 > 0:01:09Heavy, thundery downpours,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12with the risk of further disruption as we go into the night -

0:01:12 > 0:01:14and some of these thundery downpours could well linger

0:01:14 > 0:01:16into the early part of Friday as well,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18before they eventually get the hint

0:01:18 > 0:01:19and things brighten up.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21It'll be a different sort of day, I think, on Friday.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Eventually some sunshine, most of the showers

0:01:23 > 0:01:25across the more northern and western parts of the UK.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28They could be quite slow-moving, with the odd rumble of thunder.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29Mid to high teens for most -

0:01:29 > 0:01:32one more day of relative warmth across the south and the east -

0:01:32 > 0:01:35but there's a significant change in the weather

0:01:35 > 0:01:37on the broad scale over the next week or so.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38At the moment we've got the jet stream

0:01:38 > 0:01:41pumping warm, humid air up from France and Spain,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43hence the thunderstorms,

0:01:43 > 0:01:44but, by next week,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47the jet stream's going to reorient itself

0:01:47 > 0:01:48and push in from the west,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51and that's going to kind of return the weather back to normal,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53with bands of rain coming in off the Atlantic,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56and most of the rain across the more northern and western areas.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58So, we lose humidity through this weekend.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01This first front's going to be straddled across the country

0:02:01 > 0:02:04through Saturday, so, some sharp showers around.

0:02:04 > 0:02:05Very hit and miss -

0:02:05 > 0:02:06you know what showers are like,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08some places getting quite a deluge,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10others avoiding the showers entirely.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13Glastonbury could catch one or two of these sharp showers on Saturday.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Temperatures - well, mid to high teens, typically,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18and not as humid in the south-east as it has been.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19On into Sunday,

0:02:19 > 0:02:20and, for many parts of England and Wales,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23actually, a reasonable day - mostly dry and bright,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25a weak weather front bringing some patchy rain

0:02:25 > 0:02:28into Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29On into Monday,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30and those westerly winds continue,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32bringing some showers

0:02:32 > 0:02:34into Western Scotland and Northern Ireland, principally,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36but once more a lot of dry and bright weather

0:02:36 > 0:02:39further south and east for the new working week -

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and, of course, Wimbledon starts on Monday.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43On into Tuesday,

0:02:43 > 0:02:44it does look as if we could see a feature

0:02:44 > 0:02:46running in off the Atlantic to thicken up the cloud

0:02:46 > 0:02:48and bring some more prolonged rain

0:02:48 > 0:02:50into some northern and western areas -

0:02:50 > 0:02:52the exact position of this shouldn't be taken too literally,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54but the potential is there.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Drier and warmer further south and east,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57and that really sums up the pattern

0:02:57 > 0:02:58through much of next week.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59We have the Azores High

0:02:59 > 0:03:01trying to extend its influence

0:03:01 > 0:03:03across the southern half of the UK,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05keeping the best of the dry weather here,

0:03:05 > 0:03:06showers further north and west

0:03:06 > 0:03:08will at times spread their way south-eastwards,

0:03:08 > 0:03:12but then retreat once more as that high pressure reasserts itself -

0:03:12 > 0:03:14and depending on the position of that high,

0:03:14 > 0:03:18we could get some warm air starting to push back up from the south,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19combating the cooler air

0:03:19 > 0:03:21trying to push in from the north-west,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24but I'm reasonably optimistic that, for Wimbledon,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26for the first few days, there will be plenty of play -

0:03:26 > 0:03:28I'm not ruling out the odd interruption.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29See you again tomorrow.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33MUSIC: Send My Love (To Your New Lover) by Adele

0:03:34 > 0:03:37# Send my love to your new lover

0:03:37 > 0:03:39# Treat her better

0:03:39 > 0:03:43# We've gotta let go of all of our ghosts
