1:11:38 > 1:11:40Hello. Recently, we've seen rain

1:11:40 > 1:11:42mainly in the form of heavy showers and thunderstorms,

1:11:42 > 1:11:45delivering quite a lot of rain in a relatively short space of time.

1:11:45 > 1:11:48The next few days there will be rain of a slightly different variety.

1:11:48 > 1:11:51It'll be a bit lighter but probably covering a larger area.

1:11:51 > 1:11:54But it was a thundery start to the weekend across much of central

1:11:54 > 1:11:57and eastern England in particular, a few thunderstorms in Scotland

1:11:57 > 1:12:00and some really heavy downpours with that.

1:12:00 > 1:12:03A lot of energy in the atmosphere, and one of our Weather Watchers

1:12:03 > 1:12:05in Northumberland captured this funnel cloud.

1:12:05 > 1:12:08We saw some reports of funnel clouds elsewhere in the UK,

1:12:08 > 1:12:10so it really was a very lively day.

1:12:10 > 1:12:12And some very heavy downpours,

1:12:12 > 1:12:16as captured here by another one of our Weather Watchers in Gateshead.

1:12:16 > 1:12:20As we get towards dawn, most of the thundery activity will ease away.

1:12:20 > 1:12:22One or two early showers towards East Anglia,

1:12:22 > 1:12:24but most places start dry, although there's

1:12:24 > 1:12:26a little rain near Northern Ireland.

1:12:26 > 1:12:29But most of us dry. 12, 13 or 14 degrees

1:12:29 > 1:12:31fairly typical in major towns and cities.

1:12:31 > 1:12:33Might be a bit lower than that in some rural spots.

1:12:33 > 1:12:35But a bright start for many in the east.

1:12:35 > 1:12:38Further west, wetter weather in Northern Ireland drifting into

1:12:38 > 1:12:41the western side of Scotland, the western side of England and Wales.

1:12:41 > 1:12:44Not a great feel underneath that, temperatures in the middle teens,

1:12:44 > 1:12:46but get further east and, yes, it does cloud over

1:12:46 > 1:12:49into the afternoon, but many places stay fine and dry.

1:12:49 > 1:12:5419 or so degrees in Newcastle, 20 in Norwich, 22 in London.

1:12:54 > 1:12:57And then through Sunday night and into the small hours of Monday,

1:12:57 > 1:12:59that weather front creeps south, and then for the bulk

1:12:59 > 1:13:03of the day on Monday we're into this fresh north-westerly air stream.

1:13:03 > 1:13:05And it's going to be a bright and breezy day on Monday,

1:13:05 > 1:13:08probably the better day of the next few with a lot of dry

1:13:08 > 1:13:12weather for many, although still a few showers in the north and west.

1:13:12 > 1:13:1514 degrees in Glasgow, 21 in London.

1:13:15 > 1:13:19Now, we keep those westerly winds coming through the day on Tuesday.

1:13:19 > 1:13:22Low pressure to the north, weather fronts swinging around the base of

1:13:22 > 1:13:25that low, heading our way to bring thicker cloud

1:13:25 > 1:13:27and outbreaks of rather more persistent rain.

1:13:27 > 1:13:30Across some northern and western parts of the UK in particular,

1:13:30 > 1:13:32maybe some rain early in some southern counties,

1:13:32 > 1:13:34but that should move further north into the afternoon,

1:13:34 > 1:13:37and temperature-wise it's the middle to upper teens.

1:13:37 > 1:13:40Now, Wimbledon starts on Monday. Should be a pretty decent day,

1:13:40 > 1:13:43but Tuesday morning, the chance of some rain,

1:13:43 > 1:13:46a higher chance of seeing some rain through the middle part of the week.

1:13:46 > 1:13:49It looks pretty unsettled Tuesday night into Wednesday.

1:13:49 > 1:13:51We've still got the low to the north of the UK,

1:13:51 > 1:13:54weather fronts coming around the base of it,

1:13:54 > 1:13:56bringing thicker cloud and spells of rain with it.

1:13:56 > 1:13:59So on Wednesday the southern half of the UK in particular

1:13:59 > 1:14:01looks pretty wet and pretty windy,

1:14:01 > 1:14:04the windiest conditions probably down towards Cornwall and Devon.

1:14:04 > 1:14:07Along the south coast, generally quite windy. Wet, too.

1:14:07 > 1:14:09Sunny spells and showers the further north you go.

1:14:09 > 1:14:13And yet more rain comes in from the west during the day on Thursday.

1:14:13 > 1:14:17It looks as if the south-eastern corner is driest into the afternoon,

1:14:17 > 1:14:20but a fair bit of cloud. 20 degrees will be the top temperature.

1:14:20 > 1:14:23Now, in recent weeks, this has been the overall set-up, high pressure

1:14:23 > 1:14:25to the north of the UK, a north-easterly breeze with that,

1:14:25 > 1:14:28but the low to the south of the UK has been dragging in this warm,

1:14:28 > 1:14:30humid air from the near Continent,

1:14:30 > 1:14:33and that's helped to spark off some of those thunderstorms.

1:14:33 > 1:14:35This week, we're going to change things around

1:14:35 > 1:14:38and have low pressure to the north of the UK,

1:14:38 > 1:14:40high pressure to the south and west of the UK,

1:14:40 > 1:14:43and the resultant winds will be a westerly wind

1:14:43 > 1:14:46coming in from the Atlantic, bringing patches of cloud

1:14:46 > 1:14:49with it, and that cloud, in turn, is likely to bring some rain.

1:14:49 > 1:14:52Now, most of the rain will be in the north-west, in closest proximity

1:14:52 > 1:14:55to that area of low pressure, driest conditions in the south-east.

1:14:55 > 1:14:58Not completely dry, but drier than it will be in the north and west.

1:14:58 > 1:15:00A bit of a breeze at times,

1:15:00 > 1:15:03and I think it'll feel a little bit fresher than it has done recently.

1:15:03 > 1:15:05We'll lose that humidity. That's it. Bye for now.
