0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. If you're keen for a taste of summer, then,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07well, maybe I can offer you something of a whiff

0:00:07 > 0:00:10of settled fine weather for a time next week.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12But it is just a whiff.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15For the next few days, there'll be more rain around.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17There's been a bit of sunshine over the past 24 hours,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20some fine weather for a time in Fife during Wednesday,

0:00:20 > 0:00:24but Wimbledon had a more typical scene, with the covers on again.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27And likely to be in, well, not constant use,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29but they will be needed over the next few days,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31those covers in SW19,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33because the showers gather across southern

0:00:33 > 0:00:36and western areas quite quickly during Thursday morning.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38After many of us start with a bit of sunshine,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40the showers become fairly widespread by the afternoon.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Parts of north-east England, south-east Scotland

0:00:42 > 0:00:45may not see too many, and some brightness elsewhere.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47The rain during Thursday not as persistent

0:00:47 > 0:00:49or as widespread as it was on Wednesday,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and as a result, it'll be a little warmer.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53We might squeak up to 20 Celsius.

0:00:53 > 0:00:54But generally, low pressure

0:00:54 > 0:00:56is controlling things at the moment.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Weather fronts gradually pivoting around.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00This one may still bring cloud and patchy rain

0:01:00 > 0:01:03across the south-east for a time on Friday morning.

0:01:03 > 0:01:04Once that's gone,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06it's basically a day of sunny spells,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08and then bands of showers drifting southwards.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10These showers on Friday could be quite lively.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Some intense ones.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Hail and thunder is possible.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16There'll be some sunny spells, during which

0:01:16 > 0:01:18temperatures will stumble around the mid-teens.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Maybe up to 20 Celsius across the south-east.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Low-pressure weather front still very much

0:01:23 > 0:01:25the order of the day as we go into the weekend.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Saturday is another day of heavy showers,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30which will develop quite widely

0:01:30 > 0:01:31through the course of the day,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34particularly across central, northern and eastern parts.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Parts of Wales, south-west England -

0:01:36 > 0:01:39there's a half-decent chance it may stay dry on Saturday

0:01:39 > 0:01:41with a bit of sunshine, but elsewhere,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43there will be quite blustery conditions, gusty winds,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and again, showers, when they fall,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47are likely to be heavy, possibly thundery.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49The showers ease on Saturday night,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51but then another weather front

0:01:51 > 0:01:53starts to approach for Sunday.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Some uncertainty about the timing of this weather front,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57but it will bring, it looks like,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59more cloud and some outbreaks of rain

0:01:59 > 0:02:01across particularly the southern half of the UK.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Further north there will be a few showers on Sunday,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06but there should also be a bit of brightness, bit of sunshine.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07Temperatures, when the sun's out,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10again, only in the high teens, maybe low 20s.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12These are temperatures below average for the time of year.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15With south-westerly breezes developing

0:02:15 > 0:02:18during Sunday night and Monday, bringing in slightly warmer air,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20it could feel quite humid if we get some brightness

0:02:20 > 0:02:22across the south on Monday. But generally,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24it's another cool day with showers,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26thanks to an area of low pressure dominating

0:02:26 > 0:02:27as we start next week.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30For fine and settled weather, we need high pressure.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32This is the Azores high.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34It's a semi-permanent area of high pressure

0:02:34 > 0:02:36that's called the Azores high

0:02:36 > 0:02:38because it mostly sits over the Azores.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41For us across the UK to get some fine summer weather,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43we need this high

0:02:43 > 0:02:44to move in across the UK.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47It'll try and do it for a time next week,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49but instead of shifting bodily,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52it just sort of extends up towards us for a time,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54and when that happens,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56because it hasn't fully shifted across the UK,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58well, it's always going to be

0:02:58 > 0:03:00only around for a short period of time.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02It does look as if low-pressure systems

0:03:02 > 0:03:04will start to push that high back

0:03:04 > 0:03:06further south later on next week.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08But at least potentially,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10the weather may calm down for a time next week.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12We start with low pressure in control,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14so we start next week

0:03:14 > 0:03:16with cloud and outbreaks of rain,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17and still on the cool side.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19And then hopefully it turns a little drier

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and potentially a little bit warmer,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23before things may well then turn back.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26More unsettled later next week.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28We will, of course, keep you updated

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Online is always a good source of information.
