0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Huge weekend of events coming up,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07which we'll look at in more detail shortly.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09But before we get on with that, been talking about the summer

0:00:09 > 0:00:12over the past few days, if you're wondering where that's been hiding

0:00:12 > 0:00:14recently - it's certainly been across Iberia,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16temperatures so far this week

0:00:16 > 0:00:18peaked around 45 degrees - inland Spain,

0:00:18 > 0:00:23into the Balearics and around in Almeria we've got 34 or 35 degrees.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Sparking off some storms inland, as it will do again on Thursday.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Over the next few days, though, we're going to see the heat

0:00:29 > 0:00:31build again, especially into the weekend.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34We're tapping into a little bit more warmth ourselves at the moment,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37because winds are coming up from the south-west,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39so after a milder start to Thursday, once the sun is out it

0:00:39 > 0:00:41feels very pleasant but not much sun across some parts of

0:00:41 > 0:00:44northern England, Wales and then later into the south-west,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47wriggling weather front here bringing some occasional rain,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49mainly on western hills. A lot of you will be dry but lots

0:00:49 > 0:00:51of showers in the far north of Scotland

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and a blustery breeze with it.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56In the sunshine, temperatures into the 20s, though feeling more

0:00:56 > 0:00:58humid the further south-east you are.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02And quite a muggy night through Thursday night and into Friday.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Across southern areas, all that cloud will be in place,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07further north the showers get more frequent again into Scotland.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11And Like we start Thursday, we'll start Friday with temperatures

0:01:11 > 0:01:13in many places in the mid teens.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15But it's a bit of a messy set-up for Friday - got an area

0:01:15 > 0:01:18of low pressure pushing across the north. Lots of cloud elsewhere.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Potentially a trailing weather front down across southern parts of

0:01:21 > 0:01:23England and Wales.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26And so that means this'll probably be a very cloudy zone through

0:01:26 > 0:01:27the day, a few glimpses of brightness,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29but one or two showers coming and going on that.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32The odd heavy one never too far away from Wimbledon.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Midlands, Wales northwards - after some heavy showers,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36especially across Scotland to begin with,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39afternoon looking dry and bright for a time, before

0:01:39 > 0:01:41that big area of low pressure we've been talking about all week,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44comes towards us. It's going to squeeze out the humid

0:01:44 > 0:01:47and warm air that bit quicker than we were anticipating 24 hours ago,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49so maybe not quite as warm on Saturday across eastern areas.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52And it does mean weather fronts push through quicker,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54but that's a significant area of low pressure to the north-west.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Could see widespread gales across parts of western Scotland,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Northern Ireland - the heaviest, most persistent of the rain.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Starts wet in East Anglia and the south-east,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05that hopefully will clear to sunny spells across the rest of England

0:02:05 > 0:02:08and Wales but that weather front could trail close to the south.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10So, a big weekend of sports and events.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14If you're heading to T in the Park, Scottish Open, you'll certainly

0:02:14 > 0:02:16need waterproofs on Saturday - rain at times here,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19maybe a little bit brighter for Sunday. The grand prix and

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Wimbledon always looking a little more promising for drier weather,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25but showers never going to be too far away, and with that uncertainty

0:02:25 > 0:02:27about how close the front is Saturday into Sunday, be

0:02:27 > 0:02:30prepared, there could be some heavy rain, especially across the south.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32That should hopefully clear, though, through Sunday,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35sunny spells, isolated showers by this stage. Blustery day across

0:02:35 > 0:02:38the board, temperatures have dropped down from what we've seen

0:02:38 > 0:02:41through the week and we'll see frequent showers for many,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43most persistent in northern Scotland. But as I said,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Scottish Open, you might get a bit of shelter. That low pressure

0:02:46 > 0:02:48gradually pulls away as we start next week, but it just opens

0:02:48 > 0:02:51the door to north-westerly winds to begin the new working week.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54So, OK, nice enough in the sunshine, in the breeze feeling cooler

0:02:54 > 0:02:55than this week,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58showers pushing from north-west to south-east on that flow.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Some of you will miss them altogether,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03but some of the showers could be heavy and thundery at times.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05So we start with that north-westerly flow to begin with,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08but it does look like high pressure will gradually build in from the

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Azores during the days that follow, but only a brief ridge of

0:03:11 > 0:03:14high pressure, because wet and windy weather then builds in

0:03:14 > 0:03:17for the middle part of the week once again.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Some of that could be associated with a deep area of low pressure,

0:03:19 > 0:03:23which whips through, and then we're back to high pressure building in.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26So, a very changeable week next week, after what has been

0:03:26 > 0:03:28a changeable summer so far. Darren Bett will have more,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30same time tomorrow.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Gregg and Chris are back to help us slash the weekly food bill.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Let's get to work.

0:03:36 > 0:03:37They'll look at the mistakes we make...
