0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello, there. No surprises - the weather for the week ahead
0:00:06 > 0:00:09is going to follow a pattern very similar to the last few weeks.
0:00:09 > 0:00:12We've got some warm air, drier air,
0:00:12 > 0:00:14tantalisingly close across France
0:00:14 > 0:00:15and across Iberia,
0:00:15 > 0:00:17but as you move northwards
0:00:17 > 0:00:19and out into the Atlantic, this is where
0:00:19 > 0:00:21our weather's coming from,
0:00:21 > 0:00:23and again, we see more areas of low pressure.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25After some heavy rain overnight,
0:00:25 > 0:00:27things improve during Friday.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30But for one or two showers in the afternoon,
0:00:30 > 0:00:32it should be dry for most places.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34Brighter, with some sunshine, too.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Temperatures getting up to around 19 or 20 Celsius.
0:00:37 > 0:00:40Could get a bit warmer than that, though, at Wimbledon,
0:00:40 > 0:00:42after some morning rain and drizzle
0:00:42 > 0:00:43across southern England.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46Things look fairly quiet as we head into the evening,
0:00:46 > 0:00:48Friday evening,
0:00:48 > 0:00:50but notice more cloud and freshening winds
0:00:50 > 0:00:53and some rain beginning to gather
0:00:53 > 0:00:54across the west, into Wales,
0:00:54 > 0:00:57across north-west England, moving across Northern Ireland
0:00:57 > 0:00:59and into Scotland as well.
0:00:59 > 0:01:00So a warm night ahead,
0:01:00 > 0:01:02especially with some stronger winds.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04The reason we're getting stronger winds -
0:01:04 > 0:01:06this area of low pressure is a deeper one.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08It contains some stronger winds,
0:01:08 > 0:01:10and these weather fronts will focus the rain.
0:01:10 > 0:01:12So at this stage, it looks like we've got rain
0:01:12 > 0:01:15moving northwards across Scotland on Saturday.
0:01:15 > 0:01:18Maybe dry for the most of the day across Northern Ireland,
0:01:18 > 0:01:20but some rain for Wales, heavy over western hills,
0:01:20 > 0:01:22and rain moving northwards across England.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25Towards the south-east, not much rain, not much sunshine -
0:01:25 > 0:01:28really quite warm and humid here.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30We're all going to see some rain, I think,
0:01:30 > 0:01:32during Saturday night. Could be quite heavy,
0:01:32 > 0:01:34running northwards across Scotland,
0:01:34 > 0:01:37as that low-pressure gets that little bit closer.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39That weather front taking some patchy rain and drizzle
0:01:39 > 0:01:41across the south-east of England.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43On Sunday morning it pulls away.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45We get fresher air coming in behind.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47A lot of showers, longer spells of rain
0:01:47 > 0:01:49for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51Some sunshine and some showers
0:01:51 > 0:01:54and a blustery wind for England and Wales.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56Shame it's not particularly settled -
0:01:56 > 0:01:57a lot going on this weekend.
0:01:57 > 0:02:00T in the Park at Strathallan. Some heavy rain Saturday night.
0:02:00 > 0:02:02Some rain not far away from the Scottish Open.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05Probably improving weather for the British Grand Prix.
0:02:05 > 0:02:09The rain very much open to doubt, really, here over the weekend.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12And at Wimbledon as well, for most of the time it should be dry.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14Very muggy on Saturday.
0:02:14 > 0:02:16Much fresher on Sunday.
0:02:16 > 0:02:18And that fresher air continues on Monday as well.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Again some quite strong winds,
0:02:20 > 0:02:22especially across England and Wales,
0:02:22 > 0:02:25where we'll see those showers moving down from the north.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27Some of them could be heavy,
0:02:27 > 0:02:29possibly even with a rumble or two of thunder.
0:02:29 > 0:02:33Although that low-pressure is heading its way towards Scandinavia,
0:02:33 > 0:02:35we still have an airflow from a cool direction,
0:02:35 > 0:02:37a north-westerly airflow.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39And we could see some more showers as well.
0:02:39 > 0:02:42Not too many for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:02:42 > 0:02:44A chillier night here.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47We've got more showers pushing into southern parts of England,
0:02:47 > 0:02:49and again some of these could be heavy,
0:02:49 > 0:02:52possibly with some hail and thunder, too.
0:02:52 > 0:02:54Now, what we need for some drier weather
0:02:54 > 0:02:57at this time of the year is the Azores High
0:02:57 > 0:02:59to move closer to our shores.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02That tends to bring us better weather over the summer.
0:03:02 > 0:03:04But it tries to push our way
0:03:04 > 0:03:06around the middle part of the week,
0:03:06 > 0:03:08but it looks like it will get squeezed away
0:03:08 > 0:03:10by another area of low pressure,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12bringing some stronger winds and some rain.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14And as we head into later next week,
0:03:14 > 0:03:16this is the position of the jet stream.
0:03:16 > 0:03:17Again, not changing very much.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19That steers areas of low-pressure
0:03:19 > 0:03:21more towards the north-west of the UK.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23This is where it will be wet and windy at times.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26Head towards the south-east, not quite so wet,
0:03:26 > 0:03:28and at times it will be a little bit warmer as well.
0:03:28 > 0:03:30That's it. Goodbye.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34Gregg and Chris are back to help us slash the weekly food bill.
0:03:34 > 0:03:35Let's get to work.
