0:00:03 > 0:00:05The weather was all over the place this weekend.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09Let's see if we've got any decent summer weather on the way this week.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11And actually, there are hints that towards the end of the week

0:00:11 > 0:00:13things could be warming up significantly,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15particularly across the south of the country.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18But for the time being, the jet stream is fairly close to the UK.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20We have a dip in the jet stream and quite often

0:00:20 > 0:00:23when we get this pattern a low pressure likes to sit in this dip,

0:00:23 > 0:00:27and that's exactly what we've got on the forecast.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30On Monday you can see low pressure here. It's only moving very,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33very slowly, at a glacial pace, in the direction of Scandinavia.

0:00:33 > 0:00:37So that means it will take time before it takes its weather

0:00:37 > 0:00:39with it and out of the scene.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42So again, on Monday, it's a picture of sunshine and showers

0:00:42 > 0:00:45and quite breezy too, particularly across central

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and eastern areas earlier on in the day.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51The top temperatures in any sunshine will get up to 20 degrees or so

0:00:51 > 0:00:55but I think for most of us we're talking about the high teens.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57So that's Monday afternoon.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Monday evening, now, into early Tuesday,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03and the weather still essentially remains the same.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06We've got a relatively cool north-westerly wind,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08just a few shivers around here and there,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11temperatures overnight in the north around 10 degrees,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14so this is early Tuesday, 13 or 14 in the south.

0:01:14 > 0:01:19Notice that on Tuesday we still have a chance of some rain across

0:01:19 > 0:01:22some central and south-eastern areas,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24so I think we might have to be prepared with the brollies.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26For example, anywhere from the Midlands into East Anglia,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28the London area, central, southern England.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31But I think, overall, for most of us on Tuesday

0:01:31 > 0:01:33it is looking a little bit drier and brighter.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36There will still be one or two sprinkles dotted around here

0:01:36 > 0:01:38and there but on balance, not a bad day.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42But cooler than we'd like - around 16 or 17 degrees.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45This high pressure only very slowly starts to build

0:01:45 > 0:01:48in the direction of the UK during the middle part of the week.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51In fact, on Wednesday we are still under the influence

0:01:51 > 0:01:53of that low pressure. In fact, there's another one

0:01:53 > 0:01:56you can't even see on this forecast here in the north

0:01:56 > 0:01:59that will actually drive further showers across the UK.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02So again, a day for the sunglasses in one hand

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and brollies in the other on Wednesday.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06And then, as we head into Thursday,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09that little area of high pressure starts to build in.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11It starts to dry things out across the UK.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14There will be more sunshine, lighter winds.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16But the temperatures aren't spectacular yet on Thursday -

0:02:16 > 0:02:20still mostly in the high teens or around 20 degrees Celsius.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24Then, as we head into Friday, so Thursday night into Friday,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27that higher pressure tends to build across England and Wales.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30But notice that there is a low close to Iceland here and that,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33unfortunately, does look as though it's going to throw thicker

0:02:33 > 0:02:36cloud and the possibility of some rain to that very far

0:02:36 > 0:02:38north-western portion of the UK.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40But for the vast majority of the UK on Friday

0:02:40 > 0:02:42the weather is looking fine and dry.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44So, let's see what's happening this weekend.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47That high pressure, remember, builds. Also what it's going

0:02:47 > 0:02:50to do is keep pumping warm air from the southern climes.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53But with that more turbulent weather out there in the Atlantic it'll stay

0:02:53 > 0:02:57relatively cool in the most north-western extremities of the UK.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59And you'll notice that that high pressure actually builds

0:02:59 > 0:03:01during the weekend right across Europe,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04still influencing the weather across most of England and Wales,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07but in the north-west there still could be some rain.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08So, next weekend, cloudy

0:03:08 > 0:03:11with a chance of some rain across the north-west of the country,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14whereas further south it does look as though things could warm up.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17And this warming trend is likely to continue further

0:03:17 > 0:03:19ahead into next week as well,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22so it could turn very warm indeed across some southern parts

0:03:22 > 0:03:26of the UK with sunshine, but in the north-west always a little

0:03:26 > 0:03:30bit more unsettled with a risk of some rain and breezy weather too.

0:03:30 > 0:03:31Bye-bye.

0:03:32 > 0:03:33There's something here.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35# This one night... #

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Something bad.
