0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. It's time to take a look a little further

0:00:04 > 0:00:06ahead with the weather.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09But initially let's take a look at the rest of this week.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11It's been a very showery week.

0:00:11 > 0:00:16That was certainly true again on Wednesday, this taken in Kent.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19You can see the virga, the rain coming down in the distance.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22We did have some sunshine between the showers up in North Yorkshire

0:00:22 > 0:00:25and it does feel a little bit more like July when the sun shines.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28And we should have more of that sunshine as we move into Thursday

0:00:28 > 0:00:32because, arriving across the shores of the UK, a ridge of high pressure.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34It looks set to be the driest day of the week

0:00:34 > 0:00:37so far with some decent spells of sunshine, especially in the morning.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39There could still be the odd light shower in the south first

0:00:39 > 0:00:42thing and the odd one in eastern areas but you'll be unlucky,

0:00:42 > 0:00:43I think, if you catch one.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46For most of us, we'll just find the fair-weather cloud tends

0:00:46 > 0:00:49to bubble up through the day but, of course, with light winds

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and more sunshine than we've had, it will feel very pleasant.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54It's worth saying it's strong sunshine, we are in July.

0:00:54 > 0:00:58But temperatures will get into the high teens in the sunshine

0:00:58 > 0:00:59in the north. Not a bad day for Troon

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and we should see some decent

0:01:01 > 0:01:04spells of sunshine, even into the afternoon further south.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Probably the best of the sunshine will be found around the coasts

0:01:07 > 0:01:09because, at this time of year, the cloud tends to bubble up inland

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and that's where we see the cloudier spells into the afternoon.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15But it'll still be bright and it'll still feel warm and you'll

0:01:15 > 0:01:18be, as I say, very unlucky if you catch more than one shower.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21It's the start of the first Test, England-Pakistan in Lord's tomorrow.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Very unlucky if we catch one of those light showers.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28There will be a good deal of play here, as there will in Troon,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31although we could have quite a wet morning on Friday here.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33And the winds are going to be quite significant.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36We're talking gales potentially for the far north-west of Scotland

0:01:36 > 0:01:39through Friday and into the start of the weekend, so unusually windy.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41And that's because this next weather system arrives through

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Thursday night and into Friday.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Not much rain in southern areas, just a lot more cloud, I think,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49particularly across Wales and western England.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Further north some spells of rain. Quite muggy air.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56The humidity will be rising in southern areas.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Now, as we go through Friday night and to Saturday, there's

0:01:59 > 0:02:03some uncertainty as to how quickly that cold weather front comes south.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Notice there's not much rain left on it but it will be quite grey

0:02:05 > 0:02:09and grotty, I should imagine. Quite dank underneath that cloud.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Some sunshine coming out behind it, heavy showers.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Those strong winds I talked about in the north and west.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16But very little rain in the south,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18just quite dreary under the weather front.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Behind it, it's fresher air coming in,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23so we drop the humidity as we go towards Sunday

0:02:23 > 0:02:26once that weather front clears away.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29So still achieving temperatures into the high teens and the low 20s,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32about average for the time of year. Still some showers in the north.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Winds starting to ease away but, as I say, we've lost the humidity

0:02:35 > 0:02:37because we've got the westerly wind back in.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40That westerly wind will keep the weather mobile through

0:02:40 > 0:02:43the early part of the new week, which means we will see further

0:02:43 > 0:02:45weather systems coming in, bringing with them their rain.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48It looks as if they will always bring most of that rain

0:02:48 > 0:02:50towards the north because, hovering close by to the south,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53where we look for our dry weather often at this time of year,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57as the Azores High is just drifting its way northwards,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00and that may well happen at times through the week but it may

0:03:00 > 0:03:05be quite transient, just like the day ahead's ridge of high pressure.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07So, at the moment, as we look ahead, it looks like most

0:03:07 > 0:03:10of the wetter weather will be in the north and west,

0:03:10 > 0:03:11nearer to those areas of low pressure.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14The driest nearer the high-pressure further south.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Not much heat, though.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19But it will feel pleasant if you're in the sunshine and it's dry.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22As ever, you can get more information on the website

0:03:22 > 0:03:25and John will be back tomorrow evening to update you.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Bye-bye.
