0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Stand by. A heatwave is on the way with temperatures
0:00:05 > 0:00:08topping 30 Celsius for the first time this summer, actually,
0:00:08 > 0:00:11not far from that on Saturday, across some spots in the UK,
0:00:11 > 0:00:15getting to 27.1 Celsius at Writtle in Essex.
0:00:15 > 0:00:1814 Celsius in western Scotland, though, where you have cloud
0:00:18 > 0:00:21and some outbreaks of rain for much of the day.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24So more of that captured on your Weather Watcher pictures.
0:00:24 > 0:00:26This was one view from Highland Scotland.
0:00:26 > 0:00:29There's your cloud but there's your wispy cloud
0:00:29 > 0:00:32and plenty of sunshine in Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.
0:00:32 > 0:00:35Now it is high pressure close by that's just beginning
0:00:35 > 0:00:38to build in from the south which is going to bring us
0:00:38 > 0:00:40some increasing sunshine over the next few days.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42Still the weather front, though,
0:00:42 > 0:00:43clipping western Scotland
0:00:43 > 0:00:44on Sunday with outbreaks of rain
0:00:44 > 0:00:46becoming more confined to north-west Scotland
0:00:46 > 0:00:47into the afternoon.
0:00:47 > 0:00:48Still a lot of cloud
0:00:48 > 0:00:50on an old weather front
0:00:50 > 0:00:51feeding into South Wales,
0:00:51 > 0:00:52damp and drizzly at times here
0:00:52 > 0:00:54and that area of cloud stretching down
0:00:54 > 0:00:55towards parts of south-east England
0:00:55 > 0:00:57though southern coastal counties of England
0:00:57 > 0:00:58should see sunny spells,
0:00:58 > 0:01:00maybe the odd heavy shower.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02A good deal of sunshine for the afternoon,
0:01:02 > 0:01:03North Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia,
0:01:03 > 0:01:05northern England, Northern Ireland
0:01:05 > 0:01:06sunny spells southern Scotland.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09Warm, muggy again across parts of southern England,
0:01:09 > 0:01:12although not as much sunshine at Lord's compared with Saturday.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14I think the day will end, though,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16with some sunny spells coming through.
0:01:16 > 0:01:18And an improving picture for the golf at Troon because
0:01:18 > 0:01:22we will see that cloud breaking at times as the afternoon goes on.
0:01:22 > 0:01:26Still a breezy picture, mind you, still quite a gusty wind.
0:01:26 > 0:01:28That's some of Sunday's sporting activity
0:01:28 > 0:01:30and here is the big picture as we go from Sunday into Monday.
0:01:30 > 0:01:33High pressure just nudging a little bit further north.
0:01:33 > 0:01:36The weather front still close to northern Scotland,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38still with some outbreaks of rain around here.
0:01:38 > 0:01:40A chance for getting some mist and fog around some western coasts
0:01:40 > 0:01:42to begin Monday. Plenty of sunshine
0:01:42 > 0:01:44Monday afternoon for England
0:01:44 > 0:01:45and Wales, Northern Ireland
0:01:45 > 0:01:47into southern Scotland
0:01:47 > 0:01:49and that heat beginning to build from the south,
0:01:49 > 0:01:50but clearly you're not going to feel
0:01:50 > 0:01:53the benefits of that if you've got the rain
0:01:53 > 0:01:55in north-west Scotland on Monday.
0:01:55 > 0:01:57Now as we look at the picture for Tuesday, well,
0:01:57 > 0:02:01low pressure Bay of Biscay, high pressure to the east of us.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04Those pressures systems bringing the air up from the south
0:02:04 > 0:02:05and hot weather coming our way
0:02:05 > 0:02:08widely for England and Wales on Tuesday, around 30 Celsius,
0:02:08 > 0:02:09as high as maybe 32,
0:02:09 > 0:02:11getting into the mid to upper 20s
0:02:11 > 0:02:13for Northern Ireland and Scotland,
0:02:13 > 0:02:15with perhaps some of us starting cloudy
0:02:15 > 0:02:16but increasing sunshine
0:02:16 > 0:02:18for the afternoon on Tuesday.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Still perhaps some outbreaks of rain
0:02:20 > 0:02:22for the very far north of Scotland.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25But the mini heatwave doesn't last very long
0:02:25 > 0:02:26because already with this area
0:02:26 > 0:02:27of low pressure coming in,
0:02:27 > 0:02:28some uncertainty about its track
0:02:28 > 0:02:30and what it's going to do,
0:02:30 > 0:02:31we get some thunderstorms
0:02:31 > 0:02:32on Tuesday night into Wednesday
0:02:32 > 0:02:35and that starts to break the heat down.
0:02:35 > 0:02:36Now it may not look like this on Wednesday.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38At the moment it looks as if
0:02:38 > 0:02:39northern parts of the UK
0:02:39 > 0:02:40are at more risk of seeing
0:02:40 > 0:02:42some torrential downpours on Wednesday.
0:02:42 > 0:02:43We'll keep you up to date.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44And there could still be
0:02:44 > 0:02:47heat around through parts of England and Wales,
0:02:47 > 0:02:49especially the further south you are on Wednesday,
0:02:49 > 0:02:50it could still be near 30 Celsius.
0:02:50 > 0:02:52But as we go into Thursday,
0:02:52 > 0:02:53notice now we're looking to the
0:02:53 > 0:02:56Atlantic again - weather systems coming our way.
0:02:56 > 0:03:00Now we saw those wind arrows earlier bringing up the heat from the south.
0:03:00 > 0:03:01Now by Thursday, look at this,
0:03:01 > 0:03:03we're looking for the Atlantic again.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05So clearly things starting to cool down
0:03:05 > 0:03:07closer to normal
0:03:07 > 0:03:08for the time of year by Thursday.
0:03:08 > 0:03:11So it's almost as you were again,
0:03:11 > 0:03:12High teens, low 20s,
0:03:12 > 0:03:15sunny spells and scattered showers.
0:03:15 > 0:03:17Cooler, then, not cold at the end of the week
0:03:17 > 0:03:18and into the following weekend.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Still quite pleasant where the sun makes an appearance,
0:03:21 > 0:03:24still feeling quite warm, actually, but there will be showers around.
0:03:24 > 0:03:25So in just one forecast,
0:03:25 > 0:03:28a mini heatwave, the hottest weather of the year so far,
0:03:28 > 0:03:30then back to normal. Bye for now.
