0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. You may have heard news there's a heatwave on the way.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08If you regularly catch this forecast, you will be aware of that

0:00:08 > 0:00:11and certainly over the next few days the weather will bear no resemblance

0:00:11 > 0:00:14to what we saw during the first half of July,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16which much like summer 2016 so far

0:00:16 > 0:00:18was cloudier, duller than average

0:00:18 > 0:00:20and in the first 14 days

0:00:20 > 0:00:21of the month nowhere

0:00:21 > 0:00:22reached 25 Celsius.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Now that changed at the weekend,

0:00:24 > 0:00:25hotspots got into the upper 20s.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Now some places are about to get into the 30s

0:00:28 > 0:00:31for the hottest weather of the year so far.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33The heat already building as high pressure nudges

0:00:33 > 0:00:35northwards across the UK

0:00:35 > 0:00:37and that means for many on Monday

0:00:37 > 0:00:38some very warm to hot sunshine.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Murky start with mist and fog

0:00:40 > 0:00:41parts of Wales,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43south-west England things will improve.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44Though coastal parts here,

0:00:44 > 0:00:46maybe along the English Channel

0:00:46 > 0:00:47run the risk of poor visibility

0:00:47 > 0:00:49and some patchy sea fog at times.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50And northern Scotland,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51you're close to a weather front,

0:00:51 > 0:00:52so still here you're getting

0:00:52 > 0:00:55outbreaks of rain for one more day

0:00:55 > 0:00:56and maybe just 15, 16 Celsius,

0:00:56 > 0:00:57whereas elsewhere

0:00:57 > 0:01:00low to mid 20s, high 20s to near 30

0:01:00 > 0:01:01in the hotspots in England,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03for the Channel Islands as well.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07Now by Tuesday we're importing extra heat from the continent.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10In France somewhere may get around 40 Celsius on Tuesday.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13We're not going to be that hot, but the hotspots

0:01:13 > 0:01:17breaking 30 Celsius, particularly in an area from Birmingham to London.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19But across the UK the warmest places,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21the hottest places upper 20s and low 30s.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Of course the beaches will be a bit more refreshing

0:01:24 > 0:01:26or manageable in terms of that heat,

0:01:26 > 0:01:27plenty of sunshine.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29These are your spot location temperatures for Tuesday,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31but as I showed you just a bit earlier,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33some places will get higher than that.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Of course it's not everyone's cup of tea,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38it comes to with high to very high UV levels, high pollen,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40briefly deteriorating air quality,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42though that does recover later this week

0:01:42 > 0:01:44and some stifling nights as well.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46These are temperatures Tuesday night

0:01:46 > 0:01:48and into Wednesday morning.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49That's tough for sleeping.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51So if it isn't your cup of tea, you'll be saying,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54"When's the thunderstorm coming? When will it end?"

0:01:54 > 0:01:55You don't have to wait too long.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57We've got a weather disturbance

0:01:57 > 0:01:59coming in Tuesday night and into Wednesday

0:01:59 > 0:02:01and that runs the risk of some disruptive,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03torrential thundery downpours

0:02:03 > 0:02:05from the end of Tuesday, Tuesday night

0:02:05 > 0:02:06and on through Wednesday,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08particularly through western

0:02:08 > 0:02:10and northern parts of the United Kingdom,

0:02:10 > 0:02:11but nowhere completely immune

0:02:11 > 0:02:13from catching a thundery downpour.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14So watch this space,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16we'll keep updating things for you,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17but the heat is still very much

0:02:17 > 0:02:19there across south-eastern parts of England

0:02:19 > 0:02:22for one more day, but as we go into Thursday,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25we've cut off that flow of really hot air from the continent.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27We're starting to look to the Atlantic

0:02:27 > 0:02:28once again for our weather.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29Bit of a transition day,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30though, on Thursday

0:02:30 > 0:02:32and a quieter day as well.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33Yes, one or two showers around,

0:02:33 > 0:02:34but many places will be dry,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36some sunny spells and those temperatures

0:02:36 > 0:02:38have come down a few degrees

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and then very much by Friday,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42it's the Atlantic weather taking over once again.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45No potent weapon systems coming our way,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47bits of energy coming in,

0:02:47 > 0:02:48producing by Friday more showers

0:02:48 > 0:02:50compared with Thursday,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51some heavy ones but not as heavy

0:02:51 > 0:02:52as the ones we're expecting

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Now going into the weekend, well,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58I showed you the airflow earlier from the hot continent.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00By the weekend, follow the arrows,

0:03:00 > 0:03:01very much coming in from the Atlantic,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04so temperatures have come down and it's changeable weather

0:03:04 > 0:03:07taking over once again into next week, occasionally dry, sunny,

0:03:07 > 0:03:08occasionally showery

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and temperatures close to average,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12high teens, low 20s.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13So summer heat at last,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15but because this forecast

0:03:15 > 0:03:17looks further ahead

0:03:17 > 0:03:18than the others,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19we can already see a return

0:03:19 > 0:03:20to summer mediocrity.

0:03:20 > 0:03:25To give, then take away so quickly may seem like misery making.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28No, no, we call it meteorology. Bye-bye.
