0:00:03 > 0:00:06Temperatures have been rising day by day over the last few days.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08They have reached their peak - Tuesday afternoon,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10some exceptionally hot weather across the UK.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13We saw temperatures in south-western Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:13 > 0:00:1628 or 29 Celsius, but the peak was in Oxfordshire,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18at Brize Norton - saw 34 Celsius.

0:00:18 > 0:00:19And a very warm night to come,

0:00:19 > 0:00:22but also overnight tonight, the breakdown begins.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24We see some thundery showers moving in across Northern Ireland

0:00:24 > 0:00:27into Scotland for the morning. Watch out for those.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Could be some torrential downpours with that.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Elsewhere, sunny spells and one or two sharp showers,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33but notice the winds are coming in from the west,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35so beginning to cool things down.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Temperatures in the south and west of the UK

0:00:37 > 0:00:39probably about 10 degrees lower than they were on Tuesday.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41But still, 22 Celsius in Cardiff is pleasant,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and there'll be spells of sunshine.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45One or two sharp showers through the Midlands,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48but in East Anglia and the south-east, it's 29 or 30 Celsius,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50so the heat lingers here, and some eastern parts of England

0:00:50 > 0:00:52will have another fairly warm afternoon.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Still the risk of heavy showers in northern England in the afternoon -

0:00:55 > 0:00:58and the eastern side always that bit warmer than the western side.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Northern Ireland, it's a fresh afternoon.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Sunny spells, but there's those heavy showers, thundery downpours

0:01:03 > 0:01:05moving their way ever northwards across Scotland.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Again, those temperatures down

0:01:07 > 0:01:09by 7, 8, maybe even 10 degrees, in a few places.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12And those thundery showers continue to work their way ever northwards

0:01:12 > 0:01:15towards the northern isles through the small hours of Thursday.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17By this stage, though, that westerly wind

0:01:17 > 0:01:20will have dropped those temperatures across the board,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22so it's a much fresher night, Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25but still quite warm in that south-eastern corner

0:01:25 > 0:01:26at 17 or 18 Celsius.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28But Thursday itself is a fairly quiet day,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30all the heat's been shunted away towards the near Continent.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33We've got this temporary ridge of high pressure,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35which will bring a decent sort of day on Thursday.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36A lot of dry weather to be had.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Maybe a shower or two towards the southeast

0:01:38 > 0:01:39and maybe out west as well.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41But for the bulk of the UK, it's a decent day -

0:01:41 > 0:01:44light winds, sunny spells, and it's going to feel quite pleasant,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48with temperatures widely into the low to possibly the middle 20s

0:01:48 > 0:01:49in the south-eastern corner.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51But there is some thicker cloud

0:01:51 > 0:01:53gathering out west later on Thursday,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55and that will bring a wet night to Northern Ireland.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59And then that rain makes steady progress across the Irish Sea

0:01:59 > 0:02:02to bring a little bit of rain through the day on Friday,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04mainly to some northern and western parts.

0:02:04 > 0:02:05There's that area of rain.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Not overly heavy, but some rain nonetheless.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Ahead of that, sunny spells and one or two showers,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11but in the sunshine 25 Celsius,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13and the south-eastern corner will be quite pleasant.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16And even further west, once the rain moves through,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17it's 21 or 22 Celsius.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18Then into the weekend,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21we've got a temporary ridge of high pressure.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Weather fronts, though, coming in from the west

0:02:23 > 0:02:24and a noticeable breeze.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26But a decent day for many areas on Saturday.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29We've got patchy cloud, sunny spells, a lot of dry weather,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31maybe a shower or two, but most places dry

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and quite warm again - 25-26 Celsius

0:02:33 > 0:02:35in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Into the low 20s further west. Second part of the weekend -

0:02:37 > 0:02:40well, weather fronts do come in on a breeze from the Atlantic,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43and that's going to bring some cloud and some outbreaks of rain with it.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45The further east you are on Sunday,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47it should stay essentially fine and dry.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Still quite warm - 25-26 Celsius.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But that rain is making steady progress in from the west.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54And on into next week.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57It looks as if we're going to keep this westerly jet stream,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00and that's going to bring areas of low pressure,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03mainly towards the north and north-west of the United Kingdom.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05So, in the north-west, closest to that area of low pressure,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08you can expect some rain at times into next week.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10But it's not going to rain all the time,

0:03:10 > 0:03:11there will be some sunny intervals.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14And there's also going to be a bit of a drop in those temperatures,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16so it's going to feel just that little bit cooler.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Whereas in the southeast, further away from that area of low pressure,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21we're going to be largely dry into next week.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23There'll be some sunshine.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Still some warmth to be had in that sunshine,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27but there's still a bit of a breeze at times.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28So there's a lot going on.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We'll keep you up to date right here.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Welcome to the Celebrity MasterChef semifinals.
