0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. Well, Tuesday was the hottest day of the year so far,

0:00:06 > 0:00:1030 degrees or more quite widely. 34 was recorded in Oxfordshire.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12But it all began to break down through Tuesday evening,

0:00:12 > 0:00:16and those thundery downpours continued on into Wednesday morning.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18Across more northern parts of the UK,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20there was frequent thunder and lightning.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21Further south, a different story -

0:00:21 > 0:00:25we saw some sunshine for many southern counties, and just the west

0:00:25 > 0:00:29of London and Heathrow Wednesday afternoon, they got to 31 Celsius.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31There is a downward trend in those temperatures

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and in the overnight temperatures, as well.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35It should be a bit more comfortable for sleeping tonight.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38A reasonable day across many parts of the UK through the

0:00:38 > 0:00:40day on Thursday.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Maybe a bit more cloud across some western areas.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Parts of Wales, the south-west of England might see fleeting showers -

0:00:45 > 0:00:47not thunderstorms, just run-of-the-mill showers -

0:00:47 > 0:00:49and there'll be drier, brighter interludes.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51We'll see temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53It should be a dry afternoon across East Anglia,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55the south-east, much of the Midlands,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58those temperatures down by a good few degrees, but still, 25 degrees

0:00:58 > 0:00:59is warm enough.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Head into northern England and there's patchy cloud, sunny

0:01:02 > 0:01:05spells and one or two showers, but a lot of dry weather to be had

0:01:05 > 0:01:08and we're into the low 20s for most places.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Northern Ireland will be a focal point for wetter,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12breezier weather, but much of Scotland's dry

0:01:12 > 0:01:14through the afternoon, just the odd shower here and there.

0:01:14 > 0:01:1719 or so degrees in Inverness and in Glasgow.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Through the evening, that wetter, breezier weather in Northern Ireland

0:01:20 > 0:01:22pushes across parts of Scotland,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25outbreaks of rain across the western fringes of England and Wales.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29By dawn on Friday, most major towns and cities are seeing temperatures

0:01:29 > 0:01:33about 16, maybe 17 or 18 towards the southern corner.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36Into Friday itself, we've got this weak weather front

0:01:36 > 0:01:39draped across Scotland initially and these western fringes.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42It'll be moving slowly eastwards and fragmenting,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44but ahead of that, across the Midlands and eastern England,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47it starts on a dry and bright note, but as temperatures rise,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50late morning, early afternoon, cloud amounts will

0:01:50 > 0:01:52increase and we'll see a few sharp showers developing.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55It looks like things will brighten up in Scotland into the afternoon

0:01:55 > 0:01:58but outbreaks of rain across Wales and the south-west of England.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Temperatures will be in that range of 19 or so in Glasgow

0:02:00 > 0:02:03to 24, 25 in the London area.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07And then we're really looking out to the Atlantic through the weekend,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10because we've got this big area of low pressure in the north Atlantic,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13and associated weather fronts will be heading our way.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15The breeze will pick up in Northern Ireland on Saturday

0:02:15 > 0:02:17with a fair bit of cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:02:17 > 0:02:19and some into the western side of Scotland.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23Ahead of that, it's largely dry, sunshine, but one or two showers

0:02:23 > 0:02:27and 26 or 27 degrees, so a bit of a warmer day, then, on Saturday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31By Sunday, we've still got this low drifting towards the north of

0:02:31 > 0:02:34the UK and further weather fronts heading our way, so cloud and

0:02:34 > 0:02:37outbreaks of rain getting into Wales, the south-west of England.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Some of that rain could be on the heavy side.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43Further east, largely dry until later on in the day.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44And then into the new week, well,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47this low-pressure system just to the south of Iceland is drifting

0:02:47 > 0:02:50ever closer towards the north of the UK, and we've got

0:02:50 > 0:02:53a trailing weather front just slow to clear from the southern corner.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57But it should do. Then it brightens up, sunny spells and showers,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59more of a breeze towards the north of the UK, and that breeze

0:02:59 > 0:03:02will be dragging in a fair bit of cloud and some showers.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Now, as you go through Tuesday, Wednesday, the middle part of

0:03:05 > 0:03:10next week, it looks like we'll see a westerly jet stream and low-pressure

0:03:10 > 0:03:13systems will be sitting there across more northern parts of the UK.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16The closer you are to that low, it looks as if we're going to

0:03:16 > 0:03:19see some cloud and outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze, as well.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21The rain will be on and off, so not a complete wash-out.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24The further away from that area of low pressure you are, particularly

0:03:24 > 0:03:27towards the southern corner, it should be largely dry and bright.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30But even here, we can't rule out rain at times. Bye for now.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35In a high-stakes game show, one family living in different countries

0:03:35 > 0:03:38play to win the ultimate family reunion.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40I feel a bit emotional, but I'm good.

0:03:40 > 0:03:41I'm absolutely over the moon.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45The National Lottery Five Star Family Reunion, including

0:03:45 > 0:03:47the National Lottery draw...
