0:00:03 > 0:00:05The weather continues to cool off a little bit,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07particularly across the south-east of the country,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10where today we recorded 26 degrees Celsius

0:00:10 > 0:00:12in East Anglia, in Suffolk.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15The previous day was around 30 or so.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18But it does look as though some of those temperatures will be

0:00:18 > 0:00:20creeping up a little bit again as we head into the weekend.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23The average for this time of the year across the south-east

0:00:23 > 0:00:24is around 22-24 degrees.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28For most other parts of the country in the west, it's back down

0:00:28 > 0:00:30to what it should be this time of the year,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33so mostly around the 20-degree mark.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35This is the satellite picture from earlier on.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38You can see how cloud started to develop across parts of the UK.

0:00:38 > 0:00:42We had a few showers and we'll continue to get a few showers

0:00:42 > 0:00:43over the next day or so,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45so here's Friday's weather forecast.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48In fact, one or two showers on Friday

0:00:48 > 0:00:50could turn out to be particularly heavy,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52especially across eastern areas of the UK.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55It doesn't look like there'll be too many of them around

0:00:55 > 0:00:57in Northern Ireland, maybe the odd light one,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00but it's across eastern areas, from eastern Scotland

0:01:00 > 0:01:03through, say, East Yorkshire down into Lincolnshire.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Particularly north of London here, around East Anglia,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08there could be some very big downpours,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11some of them very slow-moving, so they'll last a little while.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13There could be quite a bit of lightning with that

0:01:13 > 0:01:16and also some hail, but that is going to be the exception.

0:01:16 > 0:01:17For the vast majority of the UK,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Friday is looking absolutely fine, so for most of us,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22if you're planning to enjoy your Friday evening outdoors,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25it's not looking bad at all and I think most of us will have

0:01:25 > 0:01:28a pleasant end to the week

0:01:28 > 0:01:31with pleasant sunsets out there,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33as is the case most of the time.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34Now, for Saturday,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36we're expecting a couple of weather fronts to cross the country.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39This particular one here is going to introduce some thicker cloud

0:01:39 > 0:01:41to western areas of the UK,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43so certainly Saturday looks pretty cloudy

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and damp there in Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland

0:01:45 > 0:01:48and eventually some of that rain will reach north-western areas,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50whereas further south and east,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52it's going to be much brighter with a few showers,

0:01:52 > 0:01:55but look at those temperatures once again on the rise.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57I wouldn't be surprised if we're not far off 29,

0:01:57 > 0:01:5928-29 degrees there in London.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03The same pattern continues into Sunday - basically,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05the further west and north you are,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08the more likely you are to get some cloud and the possibility of

0:02:08 > 0:02:11catching some rain, but that wind still coming in from the south

0:02:11 > 0:02:13across south-eastern areas of the country,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16so temperatures will remain on the hot side.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18For most of us, quite a bit fresher.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Let's summarise the all-important weekend -

0:02:20 > 0:02:22it is still going to remain fairly hot in the south-east,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25if not warmer than it has been in the last day or so,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28but some rain is likely across the fresher west.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32Into Monday, we are expecting some weak weather fronts

0:02:32 > 0:02:36to cross the country, so that means a few spots of rain on the cards

0:02:36 > 0:02:39and in fact it does look as though, most of next week,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41things aren't really going to be changing an awful lot.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Temperatures will be close to average, around 23-24 degrees

0:02:45 > 0:02:49in the south-east, in the teens or around 20 further west.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53The reason why not a lot is going to change is because the jet stream

0:02:53 > 0:02:54is going to be very, very weak.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58It really is going to be a very weak affair here.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02Low pressure, yes, close to the north-west of the country,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05but when we get a weak jet stream, any weather that does form,

0:03:05 > 0:03:06that does happen in the Atlantic,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09doesn't tend to be pushed in our direction,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11certainly no vigorous weather systems developing,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14so all we're going to see is weather fronts

0:03:14 > 0:03:15pootling across the Atlantic

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and just bringing us a little bit of cloud

0:03:18 > 0:03:21and some spots of rain, particularly to north-western areas,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24whereas further south and east, it does look as though

0:03:24 > 0:03:28we're going to keep that dry and bright and relatively warm weather.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29That's it, you're up to date.

0:03:31 > 0:03:36The War On Waste is back and your help has made a big difference.

0:03:36 > 0:03:3850,000 people are getting fed

0:03:38 > 0:03:40who weren't getting fed before. Every week.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42It's a victory for common sense! WOMAN LAUGHS
