0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. The working week and done a fairly active note,

0:00:06 > 0:00:07we had some heavy downpours,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10some thunderstorms and funnel clouds around to end the day on Friday.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14Now, over the next few days, things are looking quiet,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16we've got high pressure sitting out in the Atlantic,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19out towards the south-west of the UK, low pressure towards the

0:00:19 > 0:00:22north-east, and that leaves us with a north-westerly influence

0:00:22 > 0:00:24to our weather through the course of the weekend, and for the

0:00:24 > 0:00:27first part of the coming week too.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30So, for Saturday, lots dry weather with some long spells of sunshine,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32but there will be scattered showers developing more

0:00:32 > 0:00:35especially across the north-western half the country.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Whereas, further south and east fewer showers developing

0:00:37 > 0:00:39during the day.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Still pretty warm in London, 24 degrees or so, but further north

0:00:42 > 0:00:45temperatures typically in the high teens or the low 20s.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47So, heading through Saturday night then,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50most of those showers tending to ease away fairly quickly,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52so under the clearing skies, and with that fresh north-westerly

0:00:52 > 0:00:56breeze it will be quite chilly into the early hours of Sunday.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58In fact, first thing Sunday,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01temperatures quite widely into single figures in the countryside.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03So a fresh start to the day on Sunday,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06but things are shaping up fairly fine once again, so

0:01:06 > 0:01:09a report performance to Saturday, plenty of sunny spells,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11there will be a scattering of showers, again mainly across

0:01:11 > 0:01:15parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, perhaps northern England and Wales.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16Fewer showers towards the south-east,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19but you couldn't rule out an isolated shower, almost anywhere,

0:01:19 > 0:01:2216 to 23 degrees, but certainly feeling fresher and less

0:01:22 > 0:01:24humid in the south than it has done.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26So, then as we head into the new working week,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29we're going to start to see areas of low pressure trying

0:01:29 > 0:01:31to move in from the Atlantic,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33so through the day on Monday most parts of the country yet again

0:01:33 > 0:01:36having a dry day with some sunshine and just one or two showers.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39But you'll notice this area of rain and some brisk winds just

0:01:39 > 0:01:42pushing into the south-west of England perhaps south Wales,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44working gradually eastwards.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46It's likely that some of that rain will linger across parts of

0:01:46 > 0:01:49East Anglia and the south-east first thing Tuesday but it should

0:01:49 > 0:01:51clear off towards the east,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54some uncertainty on details of any of that rain on Tuesday.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56But elsewhere, lots of dry weather

0:01:56 > 0:01:59once again and temperatures around 18 to 22 degrees.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01And looking on into the middle part of the week,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03heading into Wednesday,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05we're going to start to see low pressure moving in from

0:02:05 > 0:02:08the Atlantic, so a more energised weather pattern, I think,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10through the middle of the week and through Wednesday that's

0:02:10 > 0:02:13probably going to be the wettest day of the week,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15the potential for weather warnings to be issued due to the some

0:02:15 > 0:02:18spells of heavy rain gradually working from west to east across

0:02:18 > 0:02:20much of the country.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Temperatures around 17 to perhaps 23 degrees or so.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Any signs of a summer heatwave on the way?

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Well, we have got some heat across Europe,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31but it's generally to be found further the south, so across parts

0:02:31 > 0:02:34of Iberia right through the central Mediterranean, towards Turkey too.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Temperatures here widely in the mid-30s.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Now, in order to import that heat we need the winds to come from

0:02:40 > 0:02:42a southerly direction,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45in fact if you cast your minds back around ten days or so,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48we had heatwave conditions with the air coming from this very direction.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51But actually what we are going to be seeing through the course of

0:02:51 > 0:02:54next week is more of an Atlantic influence to our weather,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57so in general the winds will be coming in from the west,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59at times more southerly, at times a little bit more northerly,

0:02:59 > 0:03:03but no signs of any very warm air coming our way,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05certainly through the course of next week.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08So it looks like, as we head through into the end of the week,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10we will start to see areas of low pressure dominating things,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13so that does mean things are looking rather unsettled, but

0:03:13 > 0:03:16there will be some dry interludes with higher pressure in between.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19So, it's going to be a story of sunshine and showers as we

0:03:19 > 0:03:21look through the first part of August.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23It looks like the driest of the weather will be across

0:03:23 > 0:03:26southern parts of the country and temperatures, after the recent

0:03:26 > 0:03:28heat and humidity, should be around average.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30That's it for now, bye-bye.
