0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. A change of weather month unfortunately
0:00:05 > 0:00:07hasn't brought a change of weather type.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09We closed out July with a jet stream
0:00:09 > 0:00:11that was oscillating to north and south,
0:00:11 > 0:00:13briefly flirting with us,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15allowing some Azores high warmth
0:00:15 > 0:00:16across England and Wales,
0:00:16 > 0:00:18only to dip back south again
0:00:18 > 0:00:20to allow low pressures
0:00:20 > 0:00:21and a fresher feel across
0:00:21 > 0:00:22the country.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24Then returning very briefly
0:00:24 > 0:00:26but it stayed pretty unsettled,
0:00:26 > 0:00:28with no signs of any significant
0:00:28 > 0:00:30summer sunshine and warmth for all.
0:00:30 > 0:00:32And you can see that, actually,
0:00:32 > 0:00:33during Tuesday's weather.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35Quite a lot of cloud across the country,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37with another area of low pressure
0:00:37 > 0:00:38starting to move in.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40You can see the curl of cloud
0:00:40 > 0:00:41circulating around that low,
0:00:41 > 0:00:43and that's going to be with us
0:00:43 > 0:00:44on Wednesday,
0:00:44 > 0:00:45bringing some wet and
0:00:45 > 0:00:47unseasonably windy weather conditions
0:00:47 > 0:00:48with it for a time,
0:00:48 > 0:00:50but still a south-westerly flow,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52dragging up some of that Azores warmth.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54So, a humid feel to things.
0:00:54 > 0:00:55And with some sunshine
0:00:55 > 0:00:56across England and Wales,
0:00:56 > 0:00:58actually, temperatures will respond
0:00:58 > 0:01:00quite nicely, but gale-force gusts,
0:01:00 > 0:01:02unusual for this time of year,
0:01:02 > 0:01:04on exposed, west-facing coasts,
0:01:04 > 0:01:05with outbreaks of rain for a time
0:01:05 > 0:01:07in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09A disappointing day here.
0:01:09 > 0:01:10Slowly but surely,
0:01:10 > 0:01:11that area of low pressure
0:01:11 > 0:01:13will drift its way steadily east
0:01:13 > 0:01:14off into the North Sea,
0:01:14 > 0:01:15and the winds will
0:01:15 > 0:01:16start to swing round to
0:01:16 > 0:01:18a north-westerly direction,
0:01:18 > 0:01:19so it will start to introduce
0:01:19 > 0:01:20a slightly fresher feel.
0:01:20 > 0:01:21It'll take its time.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23Still a mild night
0:01:23 > 0:01:25and a mild start to Thursday morning,
0:01:25 > 0:01:26but as the winds swing round to
0:01:26 > 0:01:28a north-westerly during Thursday,
0:01:28 > 0:01:31we should actually lose some of that humidity.
0:01:31 > 0:01:32And Thursday will be
0:01:32 > 0:01:33a much more straightforward day -
0:01:33 > 0:01:35sunny spells and scattered showers,
0:01:35 > 0:01:36and in the sunshine
0:01:36 > 0:01:38it will feel quite promising,
0:01:38 > 0:01:40so a good day of usable weather
0:01:40 > 0:01:42is how we like to describe it.
0:01:42 > 0:01:43And in terms of the feel of things,
0:01:43 > 0:01:44I think for many of us,
0:01:44 > 0:01:46we're looking at high teens
0:01:46 > 0:01:47into Scotland.
0:01:47 > 0:01:5023 degrees in the south-east corner.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52As we move towards Friday,
0:01:52 > 0:01:53a brief ridge of
0:01:53 > 0:01:54high pressure will build
0:01:54 > 0:01:56and quieten the weather story down yet again.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58But all the time you can see
0:01:58 > 0:01:59the areas of low pressure
0:01:59 > 0:02:01waiting in the wings.
0:02:01 > 0:02:02So, a brief respite.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04The best of the sunshine and the
0:02:04 > 0:02:05best of the drier weather on Friday
0:02:05 > 0:02:07is likely to be to the north and west,
0:02:07 > 0:02:09with a scattering of showers
0:02:09 > 0:02:10close to those east coasts.
0:02:10 > 0:02:11Highest values, again,
0:02:11 > 0:02:13of 23 degrees.
0:02:13 > 0:02:14There's a level of uncertainty as
0:02:14 > 0:02:16we move towards the weekend,
0:02:16 > 0:02:17with areas of low pressure
0:02:17 > 0:02:19influencing the far north-west,
0:02:19 > 0:02:21but again, that Azores high
0:02:21 > 0:02:22trying to squeeze in,
0:02:22 > 0:02:24influencing the weather story,
0:02:24 > 0:02:26and that could, again,
0:02:26 > 0:02:27see a return to some pretty
0:02:27 > 0:02:29humid weather conditions
0:02:29 > 0:02:30across England and Wales,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32with the mid-20s returning.
0:02:32 > 0:02:33Wet and windy weather,
0:02:33 > 0:02:35some of it really significant,
0:02:35 > 0:02:36into the far north and west.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38Sunday should be a quieter day,
0:02:38 > 0:02:40hopefully, but it does look as
0:02:40 > 0:02:42though it'll be a largely fine day,
0:02:42 > 0:02:45with 15 to 24 degrees the high.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47So we start the early half
0:02:47 > 0:02:49of next week with that warmth,
0:02:49 > 0:02:50with the jet stream
0:02:50 > 0:02:52sitting across the central half
0:02:52 > 0:02:54of the country,
0:02:54 > 0:02:55but it doesn't look as though
0:02:55 > 0:02:57it is going to last, unfortunately.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59Yet again, the jet stream will
0:02:59 > 0:03:00oscillate its way south
0:03:00 > 0:03:02and allow a slightly fresher
0:03:02 > 0:03:03feel with low pressures to
0:03:03 > 0:03:06dominate across the UK.
0:03:06 > 0:03:07It has to be said,
0:03:07 > 0:03:08there is a great deal
0:03:08 > 0:03:09of uncertainty about the
0:03:09 > 0:03:11weather story through the middle
0:03:11 > 0:03:13to the end of next week,
0:03:13 > 0:03:15but one thing is certainly certain -
0:03:15 > 0:03:17it stays pretty unsettled.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19It will feel cooler than of late
0:03:19 > 0:03:20but it does look as though
0:03:20 > 0:03:21if we're going to see
0:03:21 > 0:03:22the driest weather,
0:03:22 > 0:03:23it's likely to be in the south.
0:03:23 > 0:03:24More from me
0:03:24 > 0:03:25same time tomorrow.
0:03:25 > 0:03:26Take care.
