0:00:13 > 0:00:16As we head through the course of Monday and into Tuesday,
0:00:16 > 0:00:19that low pressure steers away and then this behind me,
0:00:19 > 0:00:22see the isobars opening up, that's an area of high pressure
0:00:22 > 0:00:26which is toppling over across the UK so that means the winds will
0:00:26 > 0:00:29calm down, we're going to see a little bit more settled weather.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31But you'll notice that the wind direction is more of
0:00:31 > 0:00:35a northwesterly so slightly fresher air coming in from
0:00:35 > 0:00:37the northern climes and this is because of the jet stream,
0:00:37 > 0:00:40it's changing direction, you can see there's that big bump in
0:00:40 > 0:00:43the jet stream, the ridge, so a big area of high pressure.
0:00:43 > 0:00:47If we look at the same picture, perhaps in a more simplified form,
0:00:47 > 0:00:50you will see what I mean where that cold air is coming from.
0:00:50 > 0:00:53So, when you're on this side of the high pressure and the jet stream,
0:00:53 > 0:00:56the cooler winds tend to follow the direction of that jet stream
0:00:56 > 0:00:59so we get that cooler air, in fact all the way from the
0:00:59 > 0:01:02Norwegian Sea, so that does mean that Tuesday, Wednesday,
0:01:02 > 0:01:05and Thursday, it is going to turn quite cool across the UK.
0:01:05 > 0:01:09In fact, it is the nights that will be particularly chilly.
0:01:09 > 0:01:10But with high pressure close by,
0:01:10 > 0:01:13you're never going to get much in the way of rainfall at all.
0:01:13 > 0:01:16Now, later next week, as we head into the weekend,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18it does look as though that high-pressure is going to
0:01:18 > 0:01:21shift direction a little bit so we will see some of that warmer air
0:01:21 > 0:01:23being entrained a little bit
0:01:23 > 0:01:25but notice that the jet stream is close to Scotland -
0:01:25 > 0:01:28that means that we could see little bit more unsettled weather there.
0:01:28 > 0:01:31So, overall, it translates to this -
0:01:31 > 0:01:33a little rain in the south for the gardens are sure.
0:01:33 > 0:01:35There will be a lot of good weather about but the north-west
0:01:35 > 0:01:39perhaps a little bit more unsettled by next weekend.
