0:00:03 > 0:00:04Hello. A sparkling start to the weekend,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06quite literally in some places,

0:00:06 > 0:00:09particularly across the eastern half of the UK.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13Just take a look at Broadstairs, Kent, not a cloud in the sky

0:00:13 > 0:00:18and, in Suffolk, we saw a high of 27 degrees, 81 Fahrenheit.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21Now, it does look as though there's an area of low pressure

0:00:21 > 0:00:24in the driving seat, and we start Sunday

0:00:24 > 0:00:27with more cloud around across the east.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28That will quickly melt away

0:00:28 > 0:00:30and we'll see sunshine returning.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32But to the southern flank of that low is

0:00:32 > 0:00:34where we could see the strongest winds.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Gales likely on exposed coasts,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38gusting in excess of 40-50mph

0:00:38 > 0:00:40with outbreaks of rain here.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43Elsewhere, with some sunshine eventually coming through,

0:00:43 > 0:00:46temperatures will respond once again up to highest values

0:00:46 > 0:00:49of 24 degrees, 75 Fahrenheit.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53As we run through Sunday night into Monday morning,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55that low pressure drifts off into the North Sea.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57A weakening front bringing more cloud

0:00:57 > 0:01:00and outbreaks of drizzly rain into the south-east.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03It stays fresher and showery up into the north-west,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05with lows here of 11-12 degrees.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07So, as the low pushes off into the North Sea,

0:01:07 > 0:01:10you can see, around that low,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12the isobars now and the wind direction

0:01:12 > 0:01:13coming from a north-westerly,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16so it will start to get a little bit fresher

0:01:16 > 0:01:19and temperatures each day at the beginning of next week

0:01:19 > 0:01:20starting to fall away.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23A scattering of showers likely to start the day

0:01:23 > 0:01:25and then sunny spells into the afternoon,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26so it's not going to be a bad day, really,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28and in terms of the feel of things,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29we're looking at highs generally

0:01:29 > 0:01:32of around 13-22 degrees,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34that's 72 Fahrenheit.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37But clear skies by day mean clear skies by night

0:01:37 > 0:01:39and a chilly night to come.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41In a few rural spots,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43we might just get a touch of light frost.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Gardeners and growers take note.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47So a chilly start to Tuesday morning.

0:01:47 > 0:01:48Again the risk of some showers

0:01:48 > 0:01:49and a freshening breeze

0:01:49 > 0:01:51up into the north and west.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53The driest, the brightest weather

0:01:53 > 0:01:54likely to be in the south.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57Temperatures perhaps peaking at 21 degrees,

0:01:57 > 0:01:5870 Fahrenheit.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00This weather front will continue

0:02:00 > 0:02:02to sink its way steadily south.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03Again, a weakening feature,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06a band of cloud and outbreaks of showery rain

0:02:06 > 0:02:08moving its way south out of Scotland

0:02:08 > 0:02:09and through Northern Ireland.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12The south-east corner seeing the best of brighter weather,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14but again, more cloud around,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16noticeably fresher, just temperatures sitting

0:02:16 > 0:02:19into the mid to high teens at the very best.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21A little bit disappointing, really,

0:02:21 > 0:02:22for the middle of August.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24So, high pressure centred towards the west,

0:02:24 > 0:02:28with the jet stream dipping down across the UK

0:02:28 > 0:02:29and introducing this fresher feel,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32with weather fronts from time to time

0:02:32 > 0:02:33bringing some showers.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36But we're not going to see too much in the way of rainfall,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39particularly for the southern half of the country, but early next week,

0:02:39 > 0:02:42it does look as though this is going to be the weather pattern.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43With a high out of the west,

0:02:43 > 0:02:47the jet stream just dipping to the south of the UK and

0:02:47 > 0:02:52allowing this north-westerly airflow to come through, and a fresher feel.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Later on next week, there are indications that the high might just

0:02:55 > 0:02:59nudge a little bit further east and affect the southern half

0:02:59 > 0:03:01of the country and then see a return

0:03:01 > 0:03:03to more of a south-westerly flow.

0:03:03 > 0:03:04So, if that happens,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06it looks as though we'll stay breezy

0:03:06 > 0:03:07with some rain to the north-west,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10but hopefully some sunny spells

0:03:10 > 0:03:11and warming up.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13So it could be disappointing

0:03:13 > 0:03:16into the far north-west. Here, we'll see the strongest winds

0:03:16 > 0:03:18and some showery outbreaks of rain for a time.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21But still, the kids are off for the summer holidays

0:03:21 > 0:03:23and I think, towards the end of next week,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26there could still be some usable beach weather to be found.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30More details, as and when we get them, we will firm up. Take care.
