0:00:01 > 0:00:04Hello. Well, some of us have seen too much rain this summer.
0:00:04 > 0:00:06Others haven't seen enough.
0:00:06 > 0:00:09And we'll keep with the uneven distribution over the next few days,
0:00:09 > 0:00:12so for holiday-makers, well, deckchair weather for some,
0:00:12 > 0:00:14whereas for others, you might be tempted
0:00:14 > 0:00:18to head to the amusement arcades. On a more serious note,
0:00:18 > 0:00:21across the north-west of Scotland through Thursday and Friday,
0:00:21 > 0:00:25relentless rain here. The totals adding up, 100mm or more -
0:00:25 > 0:00:28a lot of water cascading down the mountainside.
0:00:28 > 0:00:31Met Office warnings in force - it could be quite nasty
0:00:31 > 0:00:33if you are heading to the north-west of Scotland.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36Lot of wet weather here to start the day on Thursday,
0:00:36 > 0:00:39and some dampness down the eastern side of England as well.
0:00:39 > 0:00:43That'll tend to die out, but we'll keep a lot of cloud.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46The best of the brightness by far will be further south-west,
0:00:46 > 0:00:49so for the likes of South Wales, much of southern England,
0:00:49 > 0:00:51it's going to be a fine afternoon. This is four o'clock -
0:00:51 > 0:00:54temperatures in the low twenties, it should feel very pleasant.
0:00:54 > 0:00:58More cloud further north - much of the rain will have died away,
0:00:58 > 0:01:00and a few breaks to the east of the Pennines.
0:01:00 > 0:01:03Some dampness still over the Cumbrian fells.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05Northern Ireland drying out, mostly cloudy,
0:01:05 > 0:01:07bit of brightness for eastern Scotland
0:01:07 > 0:01:10but yet more rain for the west of Scotland,
0:01:10 > 0:01:13particularly the far north-west with those strong and gusty winds.
0:01:13 > 0:01:16And gusty winds will be a feature across many northern parts of the UK
0:01:16 > 0:01:19through Thursday night and into Friday.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22Further persistent and heavy rain across the north-west Highlands -
0:01:22 > 0:01:25in contrast, further south, it's going to be a nice end to the week,
0:01:25 > 0:01:27actually, temperatures up into the mid-twenties
0:01:27 > 0:01:29with a lot of sunshine
0:01:29 > 0:01:32across more southern and eastern parts of England in particular.
0:01:32 > 0:01:35Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather front starts to head south,
0:01:35 > 0:01:40but it loses its oomph - just a band of cloud which should clear through
0:01:40 > 0:01:41and for most of us through the weekend,
0:01:41 > 0:01:44with high pressure building in, the weather settling down.
0:01:44 > 0:01:48I'm not ruling out the odd shower, particularly across northern areas,
0:01:48 > 0:01:50but a lot of dry weather, hopefully some sunshine.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Some areas of cloud floating around.
0:01:52 > 0:01:57So this weekend, if you are heading outdoors then I've got good news.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59Some sunshine to be enjoyed, most of us dry.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02It'll feel pleasantly warm, not excessively warm,
0:02:02 > 0:02:05and Monday is going to be another fine day.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08Temperatures on the rise in response to a lot of sunshine -
0:02:08 > 0:02:11much better prospects across the north-west of Scotland, for example.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13Up into the mid-twenties further south.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15Here's the big picture.
0:02:15 > 0:02:18The high pressure edging over to the eastern side of the UK
0:02:18 > 0:02:20and we're going to start to draw up winds
0:02:20 > 0:02:22from the south or the south-east.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25And those will be increasingly warm, if not hot, winds
0:02:25 > 0:02:27through the early part of next week.
0:02:27 > 0:02:30Quite a gusty wind, in fact. You'll notice that,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32and it's areas most sheltered from that wind
0:02:32 > 0:02:35which will probably see the highest temperatures.
0:02:35 > 0:02:38Now, the computer models have some consensus now that
0:02:38 > 0:02:41we'll see those temperatures peaking round about Tuesday,
0:02:41 > 0:02:44and we could be close to 30 degrees in some places,
0:02:44 > 0:02:47where you've got some shelter from that breeze.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49Certainly a lot of sunshine on offer.
0:02:49 > 0:02:52How long does it last? Well, frankly, not all that long.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55Because those computer models are indicating that by midweek,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57we're going to start to see thundery low pressure
0:02:57 > 0:03:01pushing in from the south-west with some heavy downpours possible
0:03:01 > 0:03:04as we get towards the middle of the week, and after that,
0:03:04 > 0:03:06those computer models indicate
0:03:06 > 0:03:08that the weather's going to slide back down to normal again,
0:03:08 > 0:03:12with some more unsettled and at times wet weather.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14So to sum up the week ahead,
0:03:14 > 0:03:16we are going to see those very warm winds
0:03:16 > 0:03:19developing through the early part of next week,
0:03:19 > 0:03:22then the thundery breakdown, the details of which
0:03:22 > 0:03:24are a little bit uncertain, but after that,
0:03:24 > 0:03:27those fresher conditions coming in from the west.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29That's it, we'll update you again tomorrow.
0:03:35 > 0:03:35THUNDERCLAP
0:03:36 > 0:03:37THEY CHEER
0:03:38 > 0:03:40THUNDERCLAP
