0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello, again. It's time to take a look further ahead with the weather

0:00:06 > 0:00:08ahead to next week and beyond, even.

0:00:08 > 0:00:12But first of all, let's cover the weekend to come.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15Now, Friday, in fact the latter part of the week was pretty soggy across

0:00:15 > 0:00:17the northern half of the country because of this weather front.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19By the time we get to Saturday morning,

0:00:19 > 0:00:20it will have drifted southwards.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22It's running into an area of high pressure

0:00:22 > 0:00:24so it will weaken significantly.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26Not much rain left on it but it will introduce more cloud

0:00:26 > 0:00:28than we had on Friday in southern areas.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31But there will, for all of us, be some sunshine this weekend,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and it should be mostly dry, and as a consequence,

0:00:33 > 0:00:36as the winds fall, particularly Sunday, it will feel quite warm.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39It could be a little bit drab first thing in the morning

0:00:39 > 0:00:41in southern areas with the odd spot of drizzle.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43And that may well linger around some coasts, the Bristol Channel,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45the Irish Sea, for example.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47But for the vast majority, it looks like a nice day.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Much drier and brighter for Scotland, for Northern Ireland

0:00:50 > 0:00:54with just the occasional shower and a breeze, westerly breeze.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56And even further south, we will have breaks in cloud.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Most certainly, it will be dry and bright

0:00:58 > 0:01:01for the most part and therefore, it will feel warm.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03We might see 24 or 25 in a few spots.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06And the fine weather lasts into Saturday evening.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10And, then, overnight into Sunday, it could actually be quite chilly,

0:01:10 > 0:01:11considering that Friday night,

0:01:11 > 0:01:15quite a mild one with all that cloud around.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17So, 13 to 15, those are the towns and cities,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19a little bit cooler out in the countryside.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20There could even be mist and fog

0:01:20 > 0:01:22first thing Sunday morning if you're up early enough.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25Otherwise, Sunday looks like a nice day, the best of the sunshine

0:01:25 > 0:01:28most likely in the morning and come the afternoon around the coast

0:01:28 > 0:01:31because we'll get little bit of fair-weather cloud building in

0:01:31 > 0:01:33inland during the day.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36Just the odd shower around but much lighter winds so with comparable

0:01:36 > 0:01:39temperatures to Saturday, probably feeling a little bit warmer.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42And, of course, it's strong sunshine, whether it's 17 or 23.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45And that's because we've got high pressure building.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48And that high pressure stays with us for the first part of the new week.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52It's keeping these weather fronts and low pressures out at bay

0:01:52 > 0:01:54over the Atlantic and it's also allowing us to draw in

0:01:54 > 0:01:57a southerly wind so that's why we'll see the heat increasing

0:01:57 > 0:01:59and the temperatures rising.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02So, Monday, we are likely to see more sunshine than we will

0:02:02 > 0:02:05see over the weekend, and again, those showers kept at bay,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08temperatures creeping up further north.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10The weather fronts do creep a little closer on Tuesday

0:02:10 > 0:02:13so there is the chance of one or two breaking out, showers wise,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16in the West, but all the time it's the southerly flow that's

0:02:16 > 0:02:18influencing the bulk of the UK,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20so Tuesday could well be the peak in the temperatures.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23It'll be the second time this year that we get towards 30,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26possibly reaching 30 in a few spots.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29And it's all coming from the south but it does look as though

0:02:29 > 0:02:31it will be a brief affair, not like the heat that we're seeing

0:02:31 > 0:02:34across Iberia at the moment, 40 in Madrid.

0:02:34 > 0:02:35The heat across France as well.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39As I say, it is most likely in southern and then eastern areas

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and only for a short time because we do have those weather fronts

0:02:41 > 0:02:43gathering out in the Atlantic.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46So, Tuesday looks like the most likely day that we will see

0:02:46 > 0:02:47that sort of temperature.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49And thereafter,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52the high pressure that's keeping things settled and building the heat

0:02:52 > 0:02:53may well move away,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56allowing that low pressure to move in and culminate in

0:02:56 > 0:02:58the thundery breakdown, and because of all the heat,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01we'll see some really big torrential downpours and

0:03:01 > 0:03:03thunderstorms which is often the case here in the UK -

0:03:03 > 0:03:05two fine days and a thunderstorm.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08That looks like it will be the middle of the week but it is

0:03:08 > 0:03:10always a messy time when we get quite blustery winds and

0:03:10 > 0:03:14those downpours before eventually we think towards next weekend,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17the high pressure, the Azores high may return,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20this time because it's Atlantic winds feeding in across the UK,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22we won't see a return of the heat and the humidity.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26So, yes, briefly hot and dry to start, turning thundery,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29then fresher later and hopefully drier towards next weekend.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31More on the website.
