0:00:02 > 0:00:05If Monday's weather conditions made you start to think of the weekend
0:00:05 > 0:00:08and potentially a weekend under canvas, do not tune out just yet.
0:00:08 > 0:00:11You'll want to see the weekend forecast as it stands at the moment.
0:00:11 > 0:00:14Completely different picture to how we started the week.
0:00:14 > 0:00:15Blue skies almost all the way
0:00:15 > 0:00:17from northern Scotland to the south coast of England
0:00:17 > 0:00:19and the Channel Islands.
0:00:19 > 0:00:22A glorious summer's day across much of the UK.
0:00:22 > 0:00:25And not too hot, not too cold. Temperatures around 25 degrees.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27Tuesday, we almost do it all over again.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29Most under blue skies. Subtle changes, though.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31High pressure drifts a bit further north across the North Sea.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34That means more of a breeze down these eastern coasts,
0:00:34 > 0:00:35so a little bit cooler here.
0:00:35 > 0:00:37Bit of patchy cloud, but a bit warmer in the west.
0:00:37 > 0:00:4127, 28 Celsius possible somewhere between Cardiff and Birmingham.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43And around some of these western and northern coasts,
0:00:43 > 0:00:46we could hit, quite easily, 24 or 25 degrees.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49Go into the evening on a fine note, too, for many,
0:00:49 > 0:00:51but just the chance of one or two heavy showers,
0:00:51 > 0:00:54maybe the odd rumble of thunder in Northern Ireland,
0:00:54 > 0:00:55and that's as this weather front
0:00:55 > 0:00:57starts to creep its way in for Wednesday.
0:00:57 > 0:01:00Its impact on Wednesday fairly limited to across Ireland.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02Some occasional, maybe thundery rain.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05Not going to rain all day long even where you see that wetter weather.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08And an isolated chance of a shower towards south-west England
0:01:08 > 0:01:09and the south-west of Wales.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11Most, though, dry and sunny once again.
0:01:11 > 0:01:14Coolest down these North Sea coasts. Warmer further west.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16Temperatures drop a little bit in the far west,
0:01:16 > 0:01:19though we could still hit 27 or 28 Celsius
0:01:19 > 0:01:20somewhere across southern England.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22Don't let this chart frighten you too much
0:01:22 > 0:01:24as we go through into Thursday.
0:01:24 > 0:01:27Things are starting to destabilise across southern areas,
0:01:27 > 0:01:30greater potential for some showers, maybe the odd rumble of thunder.
0:01:30 > 0:01:32Where we do see that, it could be torrential.
0:01:32 > 0:01:34But there are increasing signs that those torrential thunderstorms
0:01:34 > 0:01:36may be a bit further south across France.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38Most continue with the dry story.
0:01:38 > 0:01:41But even if those storms are across us, likely to stay dry,
0:01:41 > 0:01:43parts of northern England and across Scotland.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45But temperatures starting to fall away a bit.
0:01:45 > 0:01:48We're having more of an easterly drift across the country,
0:01:48 > 0:01:51so temperatures in the low 20s at the very best
0:01:51 > 0:01:52instead of the high 20s.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54But you want to take a bit more of a look at the chart
0:01:54 > 0:01:56as we go towards the end of the week.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59This looks quite a nasty area of low pressure pushing its way in.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01The main weather front stays out to the west, but ahead of it,
0:02:01 > 0:02:04we could start to see outbreaks of rain develop quite widely
0:02:04 > 0:02:06across Ireland, parts of Wales,
0:02:06 > 0:02:08and eventually central and southern England.
0:02:08 > 0:02:10Some could be heavy and thundery.
0:02:10 > 0:02:12It's certainly a cloudier, windier end to the day.
0:02:12 > 0:02:13Parts of northern England and Scotland
0:02:13 > 0:02:15likely to say driest for longest.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17Still with some sunny spells,
0:02:17 > 0:02:19especially away from some of those eastern coasts.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22But temperature-wise, starting to feel much cooler indeed.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25Then, as I said, if you're thinking about a weekend under canvas,
0:02:25 > 0:02:28this is the sort of chart you definitely don't want to see.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30A tightly packed area of low pressure
0:02:30 > 0:02:32could bring strong to gale force winds.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35Don't write the weekend off as far as potentially wash-out,
0:02:35 > 0:02:37because the heaviest of the rain
0:02:37 > 0:02:40will likely be across Scotland, maybe northern England, on Saturday.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42Elsewhere, hit and miss showers, heavy and thundery.
0:02:42 > 0:02:44But the real story could be the wind strengths.
0:02:44 > 0:02:45Could be touching gale force
0:02:45 > 0:02:48across the southern parts of the UK in particular.
0:02:48 > 0:02:49That area of low pressure
0:02:49 > 0:02:52will only slowly trundle its way eastwards as we go into Sunday,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54so still potential for some wet and windy weather at times.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57Some sunnier weather, too, but into the early part of next week,
0:02:57 > 0:02:59a little ridge of high pressure builds,
0:02:59 > 0:03:01settling things down, at least to begin with.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03How long that little ridge of high pressure lasts will be crucial.
0:03:03 > 0:03:06Looks like it could last most likely across southern areas,
0:03:06 > 0:03:09sending occasional weather fronts across the north
0:03:09 > 0:03:11with bands of rain and some blustery conditions.
0:03:11 > 0:03:13That's the most likely set-up into next week.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16But there is a chance that ridge of high pressure builds a bit further
0:03:16 > 0:03:18and we end up with something like we've got
0:03:18 > 0:03:20during the middle part of this week.
0:03:20 > 0:03:22A weather front out towards the west,
0:03:22 > 0:03:24many other parts of the UK staying dry,
0:03:24 > 0:03:27best chance of sunshine towards the east.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29So we'll keep an eye on that over the next few days,
0:03:29 > 0:03:30and I'll be back to update you.
