0:00:03 > 0:00:05If you've been with me so far this week you'll know our weather

0:00:05 > 0:00:08is set to get a bit more disturbed as we head into the weekend.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Stirring things up is a jet stream,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12which is springing into life across the North Atlantic

0:00:12 > 0:00:15at the moment after the recent heat across the US,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18and it's where we see this little kink in the jet stream.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21At the base of that, an area of low pressure which will develop

0:00:21 > 0:00:25further as we go through Thursday and into Friday.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27It's a little bit away at the moment, admittedly,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and we start Thursday with this weather front - this is what

0:00:29 > 0:00:32brought the thundery downpours to end Wednesday across

0:00:32 > 0:00:34some southern and western areas.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Zone of cloud, some occasional rain here, especially in the morning.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Just one or two showers later on, most will have a dry day.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42And even further north, after some morning low cloud,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44some good sunny spells winning through.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Not quite as warm as it has been through recent days

0:00:46 > 0:00:49but we can still see temperatures of 22-25 Celsius quite easily -

0:00:49 > 0:00:51away from those eastern coasts, that is.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Still a south-easterly breeze here.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Going into the night, dry here, in fact,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57through Thursday night into Friday,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59but that area of low pressure I mentioned is sending

0:00:59 > 0:01:04a forward band of rain ahead of it, starting to push into Ireland,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Wales and the south-west of England as we start Friday morning.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Temperatures holding up across the south,

0:01:10 > 0:01:11little bit cooler further north.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13It'll be the far north of Scotland best favoured

0:01:13 > 0:01:15for the driest, brightest weather throughout.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18If you start with some morning brightness, it won't last all day.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Bands of rain erratically pushing their way northwards and eastwards.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Bands in that it won't rain all day long for many of you -

0:01:23 > 0:01:25still some drier, brighter moments,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27especially across the south-west later on.

0:01:27 > 0:01:28But note the temperatures -

0:01:28 > 0:01:30after starting the week above average,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32we're back below average for the time of year.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Now, those weather fronts are all linked into that area

0:01:35 > 0:01:37of low pressure I mentioned. Here it is behind.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39It sets up stall into the weekend.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42It's an unseasonably deep low pressure for this time of year,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44more of an autumn chart than a late summer one.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Wrapped around it, some weather fronts bringing some longer

0:01:47 > 0:01:49spells of rain but essentially,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52as far as rainfall amount is concerned, it will be fairly varied.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Sunshine and showers, some seeing more rain than others.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57The big story will be the strength of the wind,

0:01:57 > 0:01:58England and Wales especially,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01and particularly around these southern and western coasts.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Gale-force winds and some rough seas.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05So if you have any outdoor plans, keep tuned to the forecast -

0:02:05 > 0:02:08there may be some problems, may be some disruption,

0:02:08 > 0:02:12and temperatures again only high teens, low 20s at best.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15The windy weather with occasional rain lasts through Saturday night

0:02:15 > 0:02:18into Sunday but low pressure pushes off towards Denmark and then

0:02:18 > 0:02:21through Sunday, ridge of high pressure tries to build in.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Still got some blustery winds across the country on Sunday but frequent

0:02:24 > 0:02:27showers to begin with, become a little less frequent later on.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Some drier and brighter weather in the west.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32But because those winds were a north-westerly direction,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33temperatures won't pick up too much.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36You need to be out the breeze in the sunshine, which is still

0:02:36 > 0:02:39strong enough this time of year to feel the full benefit of the warmth.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41And it's just a temporary ridge of high pressure because

0:02:41 > 0:02:43through Sunday night into Monday,

0:02:43 > 0:02:47another deep low out to the west throws these weather fronts our way.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50Exactly how far eastwards they get a bit uncertain at the moment,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and it could be that some eastern parts of the country stay dry

0:02:52 > 0:02:55and bright through much of the day, reasonably pleasant.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56Elsewhere clouds, outbreaks of rain,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59but we could start to bring in something a little bit warmer,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01especially towards the south-east, for a time.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05And then next week we see these weather fronts just scoot up

0:03:05 > 0:03:07the western portion initially.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10This low pressure still driving things but with it sitting there,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13we will see some further areas of rain work their way,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16especially across northern and western parts of the country,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18maybe some breezy conditions to go with it.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21The further south and east you are, can't rule out some rain at times.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Always a little bit drier and brighter and still every

0:03:23 > 0:03:27chance that every now and again we could bring in something warmer too.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30Jay Wynne will keep you updated over the coming days. Bye for now.
