0:00:03 > 0:00:06For much of this week, many parts of the United Kingdom have

0:00:06 > 0:00:10enjoyed some sunshine and some warmth but it's all set to change.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13We'll take a look at the satellite sequence which shows this

0:00:13 > 0:00:15huge mass of cloud heading our way.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18That's going to bring some pretty heavy rainfall

0:00:18 > 0:00:19and then some very strong winds.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22A much more autumnal look and feel to the weather

0:00:22 > 0:00:23over the next few days.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25There's some rain heading its way

0:00:25 > 0:00:27northwards and eastwards through the day.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30The north of Scotland should fare quite well - largely dry.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Through the afternoon something a bit dryer begins to develop,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35at least for a time, across some parts of Wales

0:00:35 > 0:00:36and the south-west of England.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39Northern Scotland doing quite well into the afternoon.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42The Aberdeenshire area largely dry but fairly cloudy,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45and then a disappointing afternoon through the south of Scotland

0:00:45 > 0:00:46into northern England.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Fairly breezy and wet as well, so a disappointing feel to things,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52but some improvements in Northern Ireland into the afternoon.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53Still some rain across East Anglia

0:00:53 > 0:00:56and the south-east through the afternoon, 17, 18 degrees,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59but with brighter weather down towards the south-west

0:00:59 > 0:01:01we should get into the low 20s, at least temporarily,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04before these showers come along on a freshening wind.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Indeed, Friday night into Saturday morning, the winds

0:01:06 > 0:01:09in the south-west of the UK becoming really quite strong indeed -

0:01:09 > 0:01:12gale force and very blustery as well.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Not a cold night with the south-westerly wind -

0:01:14 > 0:01:17it's 14 or 15 degrees to start the day on Saturday.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Take a look at the big picture for Saturday and it shows

0:01:20 > 0:01:22this dartboard low across the UK -

0:01:22 > 0:01:24the sort of chart you'd expect to see in October,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27not really towards the latter part of August,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29so some really unseasonably windy weather.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Lots of isobars in the charts, strong winds across the board,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34gusts across the south of the UK.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Inland, 40-50mph,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38around the coast, could get to 50-60mph.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Some heavy rain moving away from Northern Ireland,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43pushing into northern England for the afternoon.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45There are loads of outdoor events this weekend and the weather

0:01:45 > 0:01:48really isn't looking conducive to many of them.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Sunday we've still got that low with us.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53It's just slowly drifting out into the North Sea.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56During the day on Sunday things should quieten down,

0:01:56 > 0:01:57at least to some degree.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Still a fair number of isobars on the chart, so a blustery day.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Not as windy as Saturday but still a blustery day.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06A drier day but still some showers dotted around,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08particularly in the north and west.

0:02:08 > 0:02:09Probably a bit drier in the south-east,

0:02:09 > 0:02:1321 or maybe 22 degrees if you are lucky.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14Now, as we get on into Monday,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17the next area of low pressure is heading our way.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Not as windy with that but still some rain spreading in

0:02:20 > 0:02:22across many parts of the UK,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24so not a great start to the new week.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26It will be wet, it will be fairly windy,

0:02:26 > 0:02:30but temperatures into the low 20s with that south-westerly breeze.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33And then on into Monday night and into Tuesday we've still got

0:02:33 > 0:02:35that trailing weather front draped there across

0:02:35 > 0:02:37parts of Scotland, down towards Wales.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40We're going to see some clouds and rain with that

0:02:40 > 0:02:42but towards the south and the east it looks largely dry.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Things will be turning a bit warmer, by the looks of things -

0:02:45 > 0:02:4924, 25 degrees Tuesday afternoon in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52And then beyond that, well, quite a range in the possibilities.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Through the middle of the week, low pressure to the north and west

0:02:55 > 0:02:57may well bring some rain but it looks largely try

0:02:57 > 0:03:00across the south through the middle and latter part of the week.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02We'll take a look at some temperature forecasts.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04This is mainly for the southern half of the UK.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06This green line is the normal line.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09It looks like we'll see those temperatures just dipping

0:03:09 > 0:03:10below normal through this weekend.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Pretty good agreement between quite a large number of

0:03:13 > 0:03:14international meteorological models.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17But then, as we get onto into the latter part of the week,

0:03:17 > 0:03:21the international models really do not agree at all with those

0:03:21 > 0:03:23temperatures across the south of the UK.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26A huge range of possibilities and that's not just for the south

0:03:26 > 0:03:28of the UK, I think there's going to be

0:03:28 > 0:03:31a huge range of possibilities for the north as well.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35Eating healthy can be confusing...

0:03:35 > 0:03:36..it's hard to know what to buy!
