0:00:03 > 0:00:05We started the week with lots of fine weather across large

0:00:05 > 0:00:08swathes of the UK, lots of sunshine and some warmth.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10It went downhill a bit for the end of the week with some rain

0:00:10 > 0:00:13spreading northwards and eastwards and for the start of the weekend,

0:00:13 > 0:00:17this is the big picture, this dartboard low sat across the UK,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20this is the sort of shot you'd expect to see in autumn,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22not at the latter stages of summer.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24So, some unseasonably windy conditions across the UK.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27It's going to be really wet for some places as well.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Very gusty winds associated with that low,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33so into the afternoon, we are still looking at gale force winds

0:00:33 > 0:00:35around the coast in the south and the west,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37gusts getting to 50, maybe 60mph.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40High tides and some large waves in those gusty winds -

0:00:40 > 0:00:42not a great combination.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44We'll see gusts of 40mph or more inland.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47With the trees in full leaf and lots of outdoor events planned,

0:00:47 > 0:00:48it's not good combination.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51And to go with all that, some heavy showers or long spells of rain

0:00:51 > 0:00:54across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England, too.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57But some brighter weather in the far north of Scotland.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Temperature wise, well, 17 or 18 degrees for many.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03If you get brighter weather in the south-eastern corner,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05it might pop up to 21 for a time.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Through the evening,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09the centre of the low is beginning to drift off into the North Sea,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12taking its strongest winds with it but still

0:01:12 > 0:01:15a blustery night with some showers dotted around.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17But with the wind keeping the air well mixed,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19it's 14 or 15 degrees once again.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23The big picture for Sunday sees that first low

0:01:23 > 0:01:24drifting away into the North Sea,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27another system is lurking in the Atlantic

0:01:27 > 0:01:29so on Sunday, we are in between systems.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31It is an improving day, really.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34Still a blustery day but nowhere as windy as Saturday.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35Still a few showers dotted around

0:01:35 > 0:01:37but nowhere near as many as Saturday.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38So, with a bit more sunshine,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41I think those temperatures should respond, the low 20s for Newcastle

0:01:41 > 0:01:46and Glasgow, maybe up to 22 or 23 in the south-eastern corner.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Some rain late in the day on Sunday in the south west,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51thanks to this weather system which is approaching from the Atlantic.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Notice how the strongest winds stay well to the north

0:01:54 > 0:01:55and the west of the UK.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Still a breezy day on Monday, with a lot of cloud,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00and outbreaks of rain spreading to many parts.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Quite a dull sort of day.

0:02:02 > 0:02:0523, possibly the highest temperature in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07In the high teens further north.

0:02:07 > 0:02:08Then Monday night into Tuesday,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11we've still got this trailing weather front

0:02:11 > 0:02:13that is draped somewhere across the north and west of the UK.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15And I think to the north of that,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18there may well be a shower or two but some brighter spells as well.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21To the south of that, we are starting to see temperatures rising.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24It could get up to 25 or 26 degrees in that south-eastern corner.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26High teens once again further north.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Not a great deal of change, really, into the middle part of the week.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32We've still got that weather front draped there or thereabouts

0:02:32 > 0:02:34across northern England and into Wales as well.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37That will bring some rain - some of that could be on the heavy side.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39To the north of that, again, a few showers, and high teens,

0:02:39 > 0:02:42maybe the low 20s, but it's the high 20s further south,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45some warm air is wafting its way in from the near continent.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Now, into the latter part of next week,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50we've still got that dividing line there or thereabouts.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51It might shift a bit further north or south.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54To the north of it, though, it will be that bit fresher,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55with showers dotted around.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58To the south of that, it looks like temperatures are on the rise.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59If you were with me last night,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02where we were looking at the temperatures in southern England,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04this is where we should be, the green line here,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06and you can see that previous thoughts had

0:03:06 > 0:03:08quite a range of possibilities for those temperatures

0:03:08 > 0:03:11through the middle part of the week.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15Now, the computer models from around the world are much more

0:03:15 > 0:03:16together with their ideas

0:03:16 > 0:03:18about the temperatures for Wednesday, Thursday,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21and the general trend is for those temperatures to rise.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23But as you can see, it looks like the range of possibilities

0:03:23 > 0:03:24becomes really quite wide again

0:03:24 > 0:03:27as we go through Friday and on into the weekend.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29So, stay tuned for the forecast. Bye for now.
