0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello, there. Earlier in the week we had the warmest day

0:00:05 > 0:00:06of the year so far,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08with temperatures just shy of 34 Celsius.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11We're going to be ending the working week, though,

0:00:11 > 0:00:12on a fresher note -

0:00:12 > 0:00:14so, this is how Friday's shaping up, then.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16After overnight heavy showers

0:00:16 > 0:00:18and thunderstorms for many of us,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20Friday looks like a largely dry day,

0:00:20 > 0:00:21particularly across England and Wales.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Light winds, sunshine and temperatures

0:00:23 > 0:00:25between around 20 to 25 degrees,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27but less humid than recent days.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Northern Ireland and Scotland seeing some sunshine, too,

0:00:30 > 0:00:31but one or two blustery showers.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Now, moving through into the weekend,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35it looks like we'll start off

0:00:35 > 0:00:36with high pressure in charge,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38but it's not sticking around -

0:00:38 > 0:00:40you see this frontal system, that's a warm front,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42which will be heading its way northwards,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44so, pushing out of the near continent -

0:00:44 > 0:00:46and behind that, to the south of that,

0:00:46 > 0:00:47will draw in some fairly warm air

0:00:47 > 0:00:49from France, from Spain, too.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51So, that means temperatures on the rise once again,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and it will feel quite warm and humid

0:00:53 > 0:00:55across southern areas -

0:00:55 > 0:00:56but we're going to be seeing some cloud

0:00:56 > 0:00:58and some outbreaks of rain.

0:00:58 > 0:00:59Now, initially, that rain will be

0:00:59 > 0:01:01for southern counties of England,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04pushing further north through the course of Saturday.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06So, potentially, the Midlands, South Wales

0:01:06 > 0:01:07will see some outbreaks of rain -

0:01:07 > 0:01:09humid to the south of that, 24 degrees or so.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Fresher further north, with just a few showers -

0:01:12 > 0:01:13but actually still a lot of dry weather

0:01:13 > 0:01:15to be seen on Saturday.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Heading through, now, into the second half of the weekend,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20we've still got the influence of this low pressure,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23and a quite active front, I think, at times on Sunday.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25So, some uncertainty about the timing and the detail

0:01:25 > 0:01:26of any of the rain,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but it looks like we could see rain

0:01:28 > 0:01:31for parts of Northern England, the Midlands, Wales, too -

0:01:31 > 0:01:33either side of that frontal system,

0:01:33 > 0:01:34some drier, some brighter weather,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37and temperatures in the mid to the high teens in the north -

0:01:37 > 0:01:40but further south, still the mid 20s for some of us,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43but there could well be some fairly heavy downpours at times.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46And then Monday, for many of us, is a bank holiday Monday -

0:01:46 > 0:01:47not everywhere -

0:01:47 > 0:01:49but it looks like we're going to be seeing

0:01:49 > 0:01:51a ridge of high pressure in charge

0:01:51 > 0:01:52across much of the UK.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56So, Monday's shaping up to be a relatively fine, quiet day -

0:01:56 > 0:01:58low pressure clearing off towards the east,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00leaving us with lots of dry weather,

0:02:00 > 0:02:01some sunshine,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and temperatures up to around 23, possibly 24 degrees.

0:02:04 > 0:02:05Heading through into Tuesday,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07we've still got the influence of that high pressure,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09but it squeezes a bit further south,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12allowing weather fronts to head into the north-west of the UK -

0:02:12 > 0:02:14so, potentially some rain on Tuesday,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17most likely for northern and western parts of Scotland.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18Elsewhere across the UK,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21a good deal of dry and reasonably warm weather.

0:02:21 > 0:02:22Now, next week, then.

0:02:22 > 0:02:23The Azores High, as it's known,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25this area of high pressure,

0:02:25 > 0:02:26will be in charge.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28At times it will squeeze further south,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31allowing weather fronts to push a little bit further southwards

0:02:31 > 0:02:32and eastwards across the UK -

0:02:32 > 0:02:33but the high pressure

0:02:33 > 0:02:35looks like it will push further north at times, too,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37and most of those weather fronts

0:02:37 > 0:02:39will be confined to the far north-west of the country,

0:02:39 > 0:02:42so the wettest weather really for parts of Western Scotland,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44perhaps Northern Ireland, dry conditions elsewhere.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46By the end of next week, though,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48we turn our attention to what's happening

0:02:48 > 0:02:49in the western Atlantic -

0:02:49 > 0:02:52this deep area of low pressure, Tropical Storm Gaston.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54It's likely to intensify for a time

0:02:54 > 0:02:55into a hurricane,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58before weakening as we move towards next weekend.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Now, it looks like it'll get caught up

0:03:00 > 0:03:01in our jet stream,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03heading eastwards across the Atlantic,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07but how it's going to influence OUR weather is a little bit uncertain.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09There's a chance that this ex-hurricane

0:03:09 > 0:03:11could head into the north-west of the UK,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13bringing some wet and windy weather here,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15but it could head a little bit further north

0:03:15 > 0:03:16up towards Iceland,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18allowing higher pressure to take charge.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20So, the outlook is fairly mixed, then -

0:03:20 > 0:03:22some rain at times, mainly in the north-west,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25also some sunshine, with the warmest conditions

0:03:25 > 0:03:28over the next ten days or so likely towards the south-east.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29I'll have more tomorrow.
