0:00:01 > 0:00:04Hello there. Friday was a glorious day across much of the country.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Some warm sunshine, lots of dry weather, too.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Things are changing somewhat

0:00:09 > 0:00:11as we head through the course of the weekend.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14So, Saturday - initially, we'll see some outbreaks of rain across

0:00:14 > 0:00:17southern counties of England drifting a little bit

0:00:17 > 0:00:18further north through the day.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21Uncertainty surrounding exactly where we'll see the outbreaks

0:00:21 > 0:00:23of rain, but it's most likely across parts of Lincolnshire,

0:00:23 > 0:00:27East Anglia, the Midlands, down towards the south-west.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Towards the south-east of that, it should brighten up, 25 degrees,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Fresher with some sunshine towards the north and the west.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Now, moving on to the second half of the weekend,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38low pressure's still with us, drifting gradually northwards

0:00:38 > 0:00:41and eastwards, so I think through the day on Sunday,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43we could well start off with some of that rain once again.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Don't take the positioning too literally but it's likely to be

0:00:46 > 0:00:49across parts of North England, perhaps North Wales.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51An improving picture, though, later on during Sunday.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53So, the main bulk of rain clears

0:00:53 > 0:00:55leaving sunshine and scattered showers.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Some of the showers could be on the heavy side in the afternoon towards

0:00:58 > 0:01:02the south, and temperatures around about 18-23 degrees for most places.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05And, then, as we roll through Sunday night and on into Monday,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08which is a bank holiday across most parts of the UK,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10not in Scotland, but what we are going to be seeing is this

0:01:10 > 0:01:13ridge of high pressure building across the country.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16So, Monday looks like a much quieter day,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18light winds, really, wherever you are, lots of dry weather,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20couldn't rule out one or two showers

0:01:20 > 0:01:23more particularly for some southern and eastern counties,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25but they should fade away later on.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28So, all in all, it's shaping up to be a fine day for most places.

0:01:28 > 0:01:3116 in Aberdeen, up to 24 in London once again.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34So, that area of high pressure, that's going to be

0:01:34 > 0:01:37a big player in our weather throughout the week ahead.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39During Tuesday, it holds on across much of the country,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42so, Tuesday, another fine day for many places.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44You can see this weather front just lurking behind me here.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47That will try to push in towards the north-west so,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49perhaps, the breeze picks up here, thickening cloud, but,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52for much of the UK, Tuesday, warm with some sunshine.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Looking through into Wednesday now.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56We've still got that front with us just trying to nudge in

0:01:56 > 0:01:59a little bit further. It's bumping into high pressure,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02so it will weaken as it moves its way south-eastwards.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Across much of England and Wales, it's still pretty warm.

0:02:05 > 0:02:0724 degrees or so, lots of dry weather, too.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10But that band of rain will gradually move south eastwards.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12So, through the middle of next week, then,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15the high pressure tends to slip away for a while towards the south,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17allowing those weather fronts to bring some wet and some

0:02:17 > 0:02:20windy weather progressively further south and east.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22But it looks like the high wins out as we head towards the latter

0:02:22 > 0:02:25part of next week, building further north across the country,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28keeping the weather fronts towards the north-west.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31But, at times, we will see some wetter and some windy weather

0:02:31 > 0:02:33in the north-west for Northern Ireland, Scotland, too.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Further towards the south-east,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38typically some sunshine and some drier weather.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Now, further ahead,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42so this is looking at next weekend and beyond now,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45in the western Atlantic, there's this deep area of low pressure,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Gaston, it will form into a hurricane for a time

0:02:48 > 0:02:50before weakening, and then it's going to get caught up

0:02:50 > 0:02:53in our jet stream, which means moving its way

0:02:53 > 0:02:55gradually eastwards across the Atlantic,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57heading somewhere near the UK.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00But there is considerable uncertainty about where this

0:03:00 > 0:03:01ex-hurricane will head.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04It may well push further north, up towards Iceland,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06introducing a ridge of high pressure and warm weather.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09But it could well dive a little bit further south down towards

0:03:09 > 0:03:12the Bay of Biscay towards Iberia, bringing some drier weather,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14but it's slightly cooler.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17Or it could head smack bang towards the shores of the UK.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20So, the outlook really for unsettled weather towards the north-west

0:03:20 > 0:03:23of the UK, warmest and driest in the south-east.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27We'll keep you posted on potential impacts of that storm Gaston

0:03:27 > 0:03:28over the next few days.
