0:00:03 > 0:00:05Well, thanks for joining me,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07and it's mostly good news on the weather front today.

0:00:07 > 0:00:08Lots of fine, settled, dry weather

0:00:08 > 0:00:11across the south of the country - perhaps not enough rainfall,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13because our gardens, really,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15would like a little bit more rain.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18The further north you go, the weather will be more changeable.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20We'll have some spells of rain,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22a breeze coming off the Atlantic, as well,

0:00:22 > 0:00:23so, cooler, fresher,

0:00:23 > 0:00:26across this part of the world where you'd expect it.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Now, this is what it looks like across the Atlantic right now -

0:00:28 > 0:00:30you can see weather patterns swirling around here,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32so, very busy - in fact,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34one of these weather systems making its presence felt

0:00:34 > 0:00:36across the north-west of the UK,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38and we'll be seeing some of these weather fronts

0:00:38 > 0:00:40crossing the country through the first part of this week,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43but it's also very busy down in the tropics -

0:00:43 > 0:00:44it's the middle of hurricane season,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47we've had Hurricane Gaston swirling around

0:00:47 > 0:00:50above the Atlantic here, not really bothering anybody,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53but it will be finally making a move northwards,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56and what happens is, when the remnants of these weather systems

0:00:56 > 0:00:58get caught up in our normal air streams, here,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00our normal weather patterns,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02things tend to get a little bit more disrupted,

0:01:02 > 0:01:06and forecasting the weather becomes just that little bit more tricky,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08so that's something that we're going to be watching this week -

0:01:08 > 0:01:10but in the short term,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12it's looking great across most of the UK.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15On Tuesday, again, very little in the way of rainfall,

0:01:15 > 0:01:16turning quite hot, as well.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19You can see one weather front here, approaching the UK,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22but even in Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland

0:01:22 > 0:01:23I think it should be dry.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Some of these western coasts, here, at times,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27will be a little but more cloudy, perhaps murky,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29off the coasts of Wales and the south-west,

0:01:29 > 0:01:30but, for most of us,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33it's going to be a fine, if not hot, actually, day

0:01:33 > 0:01:34across the south-east.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Here's Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39so one of these Atlantic weather fronts finally pushes through.

0:01:39 > 0:01:40It's quite a narrow weather front,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43so there's not going to be an awfully long spell of rain

0:01:43 > 0:01:46with it - in fact, by the time it moves into the south-east,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49it's just a bit of cloud and a few spots of rain -

0:01:49 > 0:01:51and I think temperatures still just about nudging up

0:01:51 > 0:01:53into the mid 20s across the south-east -

0:01:53 > 0:01:56much fresher there with these Atlantic winds

0:01:56 > 0:01:57in places like Belfast and Glasgow,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00and that weather front will continue to make its journey

0:02:00 > 0:02:02until it completely fizzles out across the south-east

0:02:02 > 0:02:03and into the Continent,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05and then we get this ridge of high pressure,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07so it's usually between two weather fronts -

0:02:07 > 0:02:09that's the technical term, "ridge" -

0:02:09 > 0:02:12and then the next weather front comes through

0:02:12 > 0:02:14during the course of Thursday, again bringing some rainfall

0:02:14 > 0:02:16into north-western areas and, you guessed it,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18the best of the weather

0:02:18 > 0:02:20will be across eastern and south-eastern areas,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23here, temperatures up to around about 20 degrees Celsius.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25So, towards the end of the week,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27it's looking fairly fresh across most of the UK,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30low pressure here sending further weather fronts in our direction,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32bit of a breeze,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34so, I think, a good chance of catching some showers

0:02:34 > 0:02:36almost anywhere on Friday -

0:02:36 > 0:02:38but this is more or less how it's looking,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41and then, from Friday onwards, certainly Saturday, Sunday,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43that's when things become tricky.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Remember, I talked about that tropical weather system, there -

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Hurricane Gaston - so, the thinking is

0:02:49 > 0:02:51that it will be finally moving northwards,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53as they usually do, dying a death -

0:02:53 > 0:02:56but that's not the only one that we're watching,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59there's a potential for more tropical troublemakers, there.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01One across Florida,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and also just another one off the eastern sea.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06All of these will be moving in our direction,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09but particularly this one, Gaston, could disrupt our weather patterns -

0:03:09 > 0:03:10but I think the bottom line is,

0:03:10 > 0:03:15as the remnants of these weather systems move into our latitudes,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17they tend to send warmer air in our direction,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19so, actually, it could turn out to be quite warm -

0:03:19 > 0:03:20but also unsettled.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21I think the best of the weather

0:03:21 > 0:03:23will probably remain across south-eastern areas.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26So, for this week, our eyes will be on the horizon,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28out there into the tropics, and the Atlantic.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We will keep you posted.
