0:00:02 > 0:00:04Thanks for joining me. Let's see what the weather is up to

0:00:04 > 0:00:07over the next few days. It is looking a little more unsettled

0:00:07 > 0:00:10than it has been over the last week or so.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14Turning quite a bit fresher across southern areas of the UK.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17We had one weather front cross the country during Wednesday,

0:00:17 > 0:00:21a cool front, introducing cloud and spots of rain.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24There are more weather fronts in the Atlantic,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27ready to come our way just in time for the weekend.

0:00:27 > 0:00:28Pushed by a jet stream.

0:00:28 > 0:00:32Also something else that will be a player in our weather forecast,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34here it is. Hurricane Gaston

0:00:34 > 0:00:36and other tropical storms out there in the Atlantic.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39They will be, to some small extent,

0:00:39 > 0:00:42influencing the type of weather we get.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45In the short term, this is what it looks like on Thursday.

0:00:45 > 0:00:46Actually, the weather is not bad

0:00:46 > 0:00:49across most of England and Wales during the morning.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51You can see weather fronts across the north-west of the UK

0:00:51 > 0:00:54bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:00:54 > 0:00:58Fresher here as a result, around 16 for Glasgow and Belfast.

0:00:58 > 0:01:03Still around 22 or 23 across the south-east of the country.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06As we head into Thursday evening and Friday,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09this weather system continues to move across northern areas,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11approaches Wales and the south-west.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15So here, too, it will turn cloudier and we'll get spots of rain.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Look at that, early on Friday still just about dry and in the

0:01:18 > 0:01:21afternoon, there will be thicker cloud and spots of rain.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Those temperatures continue to fall away,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27just 21, that's 70 Fahrenheit in London.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30For most of us, it will be in the teens, around 16 or 17.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Here's the big view across the Atlantic for Saturday.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Daisy-chain of weather fronts.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Here is ex-hurricane Gaston,

0:01:37 > 0:01:41which will be entrained into our weather system. It'll fizzle out.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43What does that mean for all of us?

0:01:43 > 0:01:46It basically means that during Friday night into Saturday,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49we will see this weather system coming in.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53There's no real remnants of Gaston in this weather system but

0:01:53 > 0:01:56it is going to be bringing us strengthening winds and

0:01:56 > 0:01:57outbreaks of rain.

0:01:57 > 0:02:01But it is very uncertain because of those ex-hurricanes exactly

0:02:01 > 0:02:04how these weather systems are going to behave.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06That's what happens in weather forecasting.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Anything coming from the tropics throws a wobbly when it

0:02:09 > 0:02:12comes to determining exactly where these pulses of heavy rain

0:02:12 > 0:02:13are going to go.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17The same goes on Sunday, tropical air way to the south,

0:02:17 > 0:02:21and remnants of other tropical storms still merging with

0:02:21 > 0:02:25our own weather patterns across more northern climes here.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29So Sunday very uncertain exactly where the rainfall is going

0:02:29 > 0:02:31to go but I think, suffice to say, it is going to be

0:02:31 > 0:02:35a fairly unsettled day and rain is possible almost at any time.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Southern areas probably quite likely to get some of that rain.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40I want to show you what is going to be happening on Monday.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43We will strip the weather fronts away because they are

0:02:43 > 0:02:44uncertain where they are going to be.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48High pressure starts to build across the south of the country and

0:02:48 > 0:02:50towards the south-west,

0:02:50 > 0:02:54we could still see remnants of tropical storms and they will

0:02:54 > 0:02:59be pushing humidity, tropical air in our way so that means that

0:02:59 > 0:03:02with high pressure building here, that warm air coming from the

0:03:02 > 0:03:06south, it could turn quite warm, but low pressure to the

0:03:06 > 0:03:10north-west means that the weather could stay unsettled across

0:03:10 > 0:03:11the north-west of the UK.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14In the north-west we have to be prepared for sunshine but

0:03:14 > 0:03:17rain at times, whereas in the south of the country,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20with those warm southerly winds that I showed you,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23it looks as though things could still turn quite warm.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26So summer is not quite over yet, we will be into meteorological

0:03:26 > 0:03:29autumn by this stage, but there could be a warm spell still.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Discover the hidden world of our favourite animals...

0:03:33 > 0:03:37This has got to be one of the most peculiar things I have ever seen.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39..as cutting-edge science unlocks the secrets

0:03:39 > 0:03:40of animal communication...

0:03:40 > 0:03:42There, there, there! Wow, look at them!

0:03:42 > 0:03:44He says goodbye.
