0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. If you caught the last instalment of this forecast,
0:00:05 > 0:00:06you'll know I was talking about
0:00:06 > 0:00:08how tropical air from former tropical cyclones
0:00:08 > 0:00:10pushing north across North America
0:00:10 > 0:00:11is partially responsible
0:00:11 > 0:00:13for strengthening the jet stream
0:00:13 > 0:00:14coming out of North America,
0:00:14 > 0:00:16across the Atlantic towards us,
0:00:16 > 0:00:18and carried on that stronger jet stream,
0:00:18 > 0:00:20deeper areas of low pressure.
0:00:20 > 0:00:21And that means when they get to us,
0:00:21 > 0:00:24some heavier rains and stronger winds as a result
0:00:24 > 0:00:27and we can follow the first of those deeper areas
0:00:27 > 0:00:29of low pressure coming out of North America,
0:00:29 > 0:00:30riding the jet stream,
0:00:30 > 0:00:32and heading towards us over the next few days.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34In fact, by the end of Friday,
0:00:34 > 0:00:35it'll be getting here
0:00:35 > 0:00:37and I'll show what it's going to do in a moment.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Before that gets in,
0:00:38 > 0:00:40we have a weaker weather system
0:00:40 > 0:00:41crossing the UK during Thursday
0:00:41 > 0:00:43but it is still significant
0:00:43 > 0:00:45because if you don't like the humidity,
0:00:45 > 0:00:48this weather front is introducing cooler
0:00:48 > 0:00:49and fresher air across the UK,
0:00:49 > 0:00:52initially with a bit of rain on Thursday,
0:00:52 > 0:00:53a few showers follow,
0:00:53 > 0:00:54actually good sunny spells though
0:00:54 > 0:00:56for many during the afternoon.
0:00:56 > 0:00:58A windier day, a cooler, fresher day
0:00:58 > 0:01:00but still quite pleasant if you get some sunshine.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02Cooler on Thursday night,
0:01:02 > 0:01:03easier for sleeping.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05One or two showers around on Friday
0:01:05 > 0:01:08but then remember that deeper area
0:01:08 > 0:01:09of low pressure -
0:01:09 > 0:01:11here's its rain and stronger winds
0:01:11 > 0:01:13coming in towards Northern Ireland
0:01:13 > 0:01:15and Western Scotland by the end of Friday.
0:01:15 > 0:01:16We're all going to see
0:01:16 > 0:01:18a spell of heavy rain out of this.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21Here's that area of low pressure going into Saturday.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23These weather fronts then sweeping south-eastwards
0:01:23 > 0:01:26and, again, with those brisk winds as well.
0:01:26 > 0:01:27Well, those weather fronts
0:01:27 > 0:01:28are still around for England and Wales
0:01:28 > 0:01:30as Saturday begins so a spell
0:01:30 > 0:01:32of heavy rain pushing south-east,
0:01:32 > 0:01:34brighter skies following on behind,
0:01:34 > 0:01:36a few showers to Northern Ireland
0:01:36 > 0:01:37and Western Scotland.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Now, that may be out of the way
0:01:39 > 0:01:40by the end of Saturday.
0:01:40 > 0:01:42We get a brief ridge of high pressure
0:01:42 > 0:01:45but there is another deeper area of low pressure
0:01:45 > 0:01:47riding the jet stream and coming towards us
0:01:47 > 0:01:49by the end of Sunday.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51This one includes a bit of energy
0:01:51 > 0:01:53from former hurricane Hermine
0:01:53 > 0:01:54so what does that mean?
0:01:54 > 0:01:56It means when the rain comes, it'll be heavier.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59As a result, the winds may be a bit stronger too.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02And that weather system is still around
0:02:02 > 0:02:04towards the north-west of the UK, we think,
0:02:04 > 0:02:06going through Sunday night and into Monday.
0:02:06 > 0:02:07Concerned a little bit about
0:02:07 > 0:02:10how much rain towards the north-west of the UK,
0:02:10 > 0:02:12maybe parts of Northern Ireland into Western Scotland,
0:02:12 > 0:02:13we're going to see,
0:02:13 > 0:02:15so we're going to keep you updated on that.
0:02:15 > 0:02:18Ahead of that, warmer and more humid once more.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Beyond Monday, it looks like
0:02:20 > 0:02:22there's a couple of ideas about what
0:02:22 > 0:02:25might happen, it is still far from certain.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27Now, it may well be that
0:02:27 > 0:02:29during Monday into Tuesday,
0:02:29 > 0:02:32this system finally pulls away south-eastwards,
0:02:32 > 0:02:34we're back into an Atlantic changeable flow -
0:02:34 > 0:02:37bit of a gap, another weather system,
0:02:37 > 0:02:39then a gap, then another weather system
0:02:39 > 0:02:41as we maintain a general north-west, south-east split
0:02:41 > 0:02:43as the week goes on.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44Lower pressure towards the north-west.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46If you're closer to this,
0:02:46 > 0:02:48more likely you'll see a bit of wind and rain.
0:02:48 > 0:02:49Higher pressure towards the south,
0:02:49 > 0:02:51not much in the way of rain,
0:02:51 > 0:02:53it's drier and warmer as a result.
0:02:53 > 0:02:55But there is another possibility
0:02:55 > 0:02:56for a time midweek
0:02:56 > 0:02:59and that's that we just draw up some warmer,
0:02:59 > 0:03:01more humid air northwards across the UK
0:03:01 > 0:03:03for maybe a couple of days,
0:03:03 > 0:03:06maybe the chance of a few thundery showers.
0:03:06 > 0:03:07Even if this happens,
0:03:07 > 0:03:10and we think it's just brief,
0:03:10 > 0:03:11and then we get back
0:03:11 > 0:03:13to the idea of a north-west, south-east split
0:03:13 > 0:03:15later in the week as it turns changeable.
0:03:15 > 0:03:16Again, the closer you are
0:03:16 > 0:03:18towards the south and south-east of the UK,
0:03:18 > 0:03:20the closer you are to high pressure,
0:03:20 > 0:03:21it is relatively settled compared
0:03:21 > 0:03:23with north-western parts of the UK
0:03:23 > 0:03:25where you're closer to low pressure,
0:03:25 > 0:03:27you'll see a bit of wind and rain at times.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29Still, a lot to play for in the detail next week.
0:03:29 > 0:03:30We'll keep you updated.
0:03:31 > 0:03:33The case against you is too strong.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36It's not a question of whether you'll be found guilty, but when.
0:03:37 > 0:03:38I am a gentleman.
