0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. If you've been keeping up to date with our forecasts

0:00:05 > 0:00:07over the last day or so, you've probably heard that there's

0:00:07 > 0:00:09a higher degree of uncertainty than normal

0:00:09 > 0:00:11in terms of the computer models struggling to agree

0:00:11 > 0:00:13on how the weather is going to develop.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15Particularly over the weekend, out in the Atlantic,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18we've got deepening areas of low pressure

0:00:18 > 0:00:19but a lot of tropical warmth and moisture

0:00:19 > 0:00:21from old tropical storms and hurricanes

0:00:21 > 0:00:23and that is causing some complications

0:00:23 > 0:00:24for the computer models

0:00:24 > 0:00:26on how things are going to develop,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28particularly by the time we get to Sunday.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Friday is a little bit more straightforward,

0:00:30 > 0:00:31we've got a lot of dry, settled weather

0:00:31 > 0:00:33for southern and eastern areas

0:00:33 > 0:00:35but a band of rain moving in from the west,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37strengthening winds here as well,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39so some particularly wet and windy weather on Friday,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41gales for some northern areas.

0:00:41 > 0:00:42Sunshine, 22 or 23 degrees,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44in the south and the east.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46But this very wet and windy weather

0:00:46 > 0:00:48will push eastwards across all areas

0:00:48 > 0:00:50through Friday night and overnight into Saturday.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Those very strong gusts

0:00:51 > 0:00:54eventually dying down towards the north-west

0:00:54 > 0:00:56but the wet and windy weather arriving

0:00:56 > 0:00:57across central southern England

0:00:57 > 0:00:58by first thing Saturday.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Now, there will be some uncertainty

0:01:00 > 0:01:03about the development of this area of rain on Saturday

0:01:03 > 0:01:05in terms of its detail, its location and its timing

0:01:05 > 0:01:07but we're most likely to see that

0:01:07 > 0:01:09rain lingering through much of the day, really,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11across southern and south-eastern parts of England

0:01:11 > 0:01:13whereas elsewhere across the country,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14it's not a bad day.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16A return to fresher conditions

0:01:16 > 0:01:18with some sunshine on offer too.

0:01:18 > 0:01:2015 or 16 for most areas in the north

0:01:20 > 0:01:21whereas by the south,

0:01:21 > 0:01:2320 or 21 degrees under that rain.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Then moving through Saturday night into Sunday,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28that's where things start to get more complicated.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30There'll be this deepening area

0:01:30 > 0:01:32of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic

0:01:32 > 0:01:34and trained within that area of low pressure,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36a lot of tropical warmth and moisture.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Now, the first scenario that the computer models

0:01:38 > 0:01:39are thinking could happen is this low

0:01:39 > 0:01:41moves in towards the north-west of the UK,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43bringing initially wet and windy weather

0:01:43 > 0:01:45to Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47brisk winds before it moves its way

0:01:47 > 0:01:49south-eastwards across the country.

0:01:49 > 0:01:50But another scenario is that

0:01:50 > 0:01:53that area of low pressure could stay out

0:01:53 > 0:01:55towards the south-west so I think most of us

0:01:55 > 0:01:57avoiding the worst of the wet and windy weather.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Just some scattered showers for some western areas,

0:02:00 > 0:02:02in particular, through the course of the day

0:02:02 > 0:02:04whereas eastern areas are likely to stay dry.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06So, things are looking rather tricky on Sunday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08It does look like many central and eastern areas

0:02:08 > 0:02:11will see the best of the dry and the bright weather.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13More chance of seeing stronger winds

0:02:13 > 0:02:14and the arrival of some rain

0:02:14 > 0:02:17for many north-western and western parts.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19And then, as we look ahead into the new working week,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22things start to get a little bit more certain again.

0:02:22 > 0:02:23Computer models start to agree

0:02:23 > 0:02:25that that area of low pressure

0:02:25 > 0:02:27will probably push off to the north of the UK,

0:02:27 > 0:02:28still some rain perhaps

0:02:28 > 0:02:30for some northern and north-western areas

0:02:30 > 0:02:32on Monday but certainly for England and Wales,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33look at those temperatures -

0:02:33 > 0:02:34we're back into the mid-20s.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Lots of dry weather on the cards,

0:02:36 > 0:02:37down to the fact

0:02:37 > 0:02:39that we've got this big area of high pressure

0:02:39 > 0:02:41dominating things across central Europe,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44the winds rotating around that area of high pressure.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46So, that will bring a lot of dry weather

0:02:46 > 0:02:48on into Tuesday across many parts.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49In the north and the west,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51always a chance of more cloud here

0:02:51 > 0:02:52and some drizzly outbreaks of rain

0:02:52 > 0:02:54whereas we could see 27 degrees

0:02:54 > 0:02:57in the sunshine towards the south-east on Tuesday.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59So, that theme continues through

0:02:59 > 0:03:01the middle part of the week.

0:03:01 > 0:03:02We're likely to see that

0:03:02 > 0:03:04feed of southerly air coming in

0:03:04 > 0:03:06so bringing relatively dry and warm weather

0:03:06 > 0:03:08from Spain and southern France too,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10importing that towards our shores.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11Northern and western areas,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13we're seeing a chance of some slightly cooler

0:03:13 > 0:03:15and more unsettled weather.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16Later in the week though,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18the influence of that high will slip away

0:03:18 > 0:03:20slowly towards the south

0:03:20 > 0:03:21and that will open the doors

0:03:21 > 0:03:22for areas of low pressure

0:03:22 > 0:03:23to move in from the Atlantic

0:03:23 > 0:03:25so by the end of the period,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27more unsettled weather likely

0:03:27 > 0:03:28for all parts of the country.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29Bye for now.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34The stars are out for a glittering night of awards,

0:03:34 > 0:03:37celebrating the inspirational heroes

0:03:37 > 0:03:39who've dedicated their lives to helping others...

0:03:39 > 0:03:40All aboard!
