0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. So far the month of September has been quite a showstopper.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Before we take a look at the close of the month,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10let's look back at last week.

0:00:10 > 0:00:11In fact, we were breaking records.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Just shy of 35 Celsius was recorded at Gravesend, Kent.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17That is 94 Fahrenheit.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19We haven't seen temperatures like that in September

0:00:19 > 0:00:21for over 100 years.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25We also had three consecutive days of 30 degrees and we haven't

0:00:25 > 0:00:29seen temperatures like that in September since 1929.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33Now, it all came to a bang on Thursday and Friday with heavy,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35torrential, thundery downpours.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Rainfall totals like this in Suffolk,

0:00:37 > 0:00:40that is a month's rain in just 24 hours.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42By the time got to the weekend,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45we did have some clearer skies and weather watchers could send in

0:00:45 > 0:00:46some amazing photographs

0:00:46 > 0:00:48of the harvest moon,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51the last full moon before the autumn equinox.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53That takes place on Thursday.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Pleased to say we are heading for a slightly quieter week.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59There will be some sunshine, a bit of rain around

0:00:59 > 0:01:02and temperatures near normal for the time of year.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05Now, the rain could be quite heavy for a time across

0:01:05 > 0:01:08Northern Ireland and north-west England over the next few days.

0:01:08 > 0:01:09The weather fronts skirting in

0:01:09 > 0:01:12across the Atlantic but bumping into

0:01:12 > 0:01:15high pressure which weakens that weather front considerably

0:01:15 > 0:01:17and then the rain will ease off.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19The jet stream is fairly active,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21so it is driving these weather fronts in from the Atlantic.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24You can see quite a significant kick in the jet stream.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27An omega block, this high pressure killing off the weather fronts

0:01:27 > 0:01:31and not allowing too much rain to push south and east.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34The first signs of that is on Monday.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Sitting across Lincolnshire, East Midlands down into the

0:01:36 > 0:01:38south-west, a weakening band of cloud.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Underneath that it is going to feel cool and disappointing.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43To the south and east,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45we should get some sunshine and feel quite pleasant.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47To the north-west, a bit fresher -

0:01:47 > 0:01:5015 to 19 degrees the high on Monday.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52As we push out of Monday into Tuesday,

0:01:52 > 0:01:56that weather front not moving far very fast and it will still

0:01:56 > 0:01:59be a band of cloud, the odd spot of light rain and drizzle.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01A bit of a nuisance really.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04If we get some sunshine coming through, again we could see

0:02:04 > 0:02:07temperatures quite promising with highs of 20 degrees.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09As we move out of Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12another fairly active weather front pushes into the north-west.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15Again, it could bring some heavy pulses of rain across

0:02:15 > 0:02:19Northern Ireland and western Scotland and winds will strengthen.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22But further south and east, we're not expecting too much

0:02:22 > 0:02:23in the way of wet weather.

0:02:23 > 0:02:2715 in the cloud and the rain, 20 degrees the high but those

0:02:27 > 0:02:30clearer skies could bring some early mists and fog patches.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Similar story to Thursday, but I suspect we could see

0:02:33 > 0:02:37the potential for some sharper showers around on Thursday.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39We need to keep a close eye on that.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43But again, 15 to 20 degrees the overall highs across the UK.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45As we move out of Thursday into Friday,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47it looks likely to see more significant winds,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50perhaps gales up into the far north-west

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and, again, the potential for some rain.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53But further south,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57high pressure blocking those weather fronts from making an impression.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59It seems there's a good deal of dry weather in the story.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Mist and fog could be an issue, but again,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05once the sunshine comes through, it will felt relatively pleasant.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07So looking further ahead,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09there is little sign of any significant change.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12We keep that high pressure blocking the weather fronts,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15pushing the low pressures further north

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and so that means there's always the potential for some wetter and

0:03:18 > 0:03:20windier weather into the far north-west.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Further south, early morning mist and fog could be an issue.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27That will lift away to some decent spells of sunshine.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30A quieter theme to come over the next few days.
