0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hi, there. There's a few days to go but when the stats are all in,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07September will have proved to be a notably warm month for many of us.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09It looks like ending on a cooler note.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12In the process, there's going to be some wind and rain around,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14particularly across the more northern

0:00:14 > 0:00:16and western parts of the UK.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Further south than east, there will still be some rain but

0:00:19 > 0:00:23generally it will be dry here and the winds won't be as strong either.

0:00:23 > 0:00:27And certainly we start Monday with most of the rain out West,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30particularly across parts of Devon, Cornwall and Wales,

0:00:30 > 0:00:31where there are warnings in force.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Whereas further east across England, the odd shower

0:00:34 > 0:00:37but a lot of dry weather to start proceedings.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Some of this showery rain pushing its way up the Irish Sea

0:00:39 > 0:00:41into North-Western parts of England,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43a glancing blow for Northern Ireland.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46A lot of dry weather across Scotland at this stage.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48The odd shower across the north-west corner.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51A chilly start to the day here. As we go through the day,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53this rain is going to push its way in a northerly direction,

0:00:53 > 0:00:57really, pushing up into the southern half of Scotland.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Northern Ireland probably escaping most of the rain.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Northern England seeing some wet weather later

0:01:01 > 0:01:05but East Anglia and the south-east, you'll notice, still largely dry,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08where it stays wet out West it will be a pretty cool-feeling day,

0:01:08 > 0:01:1113 or 14 Celsius.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Some dampness still to come as we head into the night,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15although I think it'll tend to fade away.

0:01:15 > 0:01:19Just dribs and drabs left behind by the time we get into Tuesday.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Particularly around exposed coastal areas,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23up over the hills there'll be some drizzly rain and fog too.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25We could see some breaks in the cloud cover

0:01:25 > 0:01:27and because it's quite a muggy air mass,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30temperatures could get up into the low 20s,

0:01:30 > 0:01:31if you see some decent sunshine.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35Quite windy, though, across the north of Scotland in particular.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37As we head towards the middle of the week,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40the next weather system on the conveyor belt comes steaming

0:01:40 > 0:01:43in off the Atlantic, targeting the north-west of the UK with

0:01:43 > 0:01:46some rain, but more importantly, some pretty strong winds too.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49We'll see some gales whistling across Scotland in particular,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51so watch out for warnings for this part of the world.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Some rain here but again, further south and east, drier, brighter,

0:01:54 > 0:01:59warmer up, until the low 20s and the wind won't be so strong either.

0:01:59 > 0:02:00But this weather front's important.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02As it starts to head its way south-eastwards,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04there's a cold front and on Thursday

0:02:04 > 0:02:07it'll be pushing some rain in across England and Wales.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Probably not making it to the far south-east

0:02:09 > 0:02:11till late on in the day.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13But behind that, cooler air starts to come in,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15so temperatures somewhat lower, despite some sunshine.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18There'll be some blustery showers across Western Scotland,

0:02:18 > 0:02:19Northern Ireland as well.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Still some relative warmth across the far south-east.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26But that front looks like clearing its way south-eastwards on Friday,

0:02:26 > 0:02:29the last day of September, and then we're all into that sort of

0:02:29 > 0:02:31cooler feed of West or north-westerly winds.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34There will be some sunshine. But still some showers again,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37particularly across the north and west and temperatures not as high

0:02:37 > 0:02:40as they have been across the south-east and distinctly chilly

0:02:40 > 0:02:42in the breeze further north and west.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45So, why is the weather beginning to turn cooler?

0:02:45 > 0:02:49Well, the reason is the jet stream and it's going to start to head

0:02:49 > 0:02:53its way southwards as we end the week, as we end the month.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57And with the jet stream to the south of us we go into October,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00that allows cold air to come in from the Arctic.

0:03:00 > 0:03:01Now, don't go away with the idea

0:03:01 > 0:03:03that it's going to get desperately chilly.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06By no means, but certainly cooler than it has been

0:03:06 > 0:03:09as we turn the month, as the blue shades indicate.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12And so, for the first few days of October at least,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15it does look like a slightly different complexion to the weather.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Certainly chillier than it has been for a good few of us.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Sunshine and showers and a risk, just a risk,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23of some overnight frost.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26So, some changes coming up and Louise Lear will be with you here

0:03:26 > 0:03:29again tomorrow to update you on the detail.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Need a medic. Humanitarian mission on the Somali border.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37GUNSHOT The situation has now escalated.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Abu is out there somewhere.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Anything happen between you and Elvis?
