0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. September 2016, I'm sure, will be remembered for its sunshine

0:00:06 > 0:00:07and its warmth.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10In fact, we had to wait for the autumn equinox

0:00:10 > 0:00:13to almost kick-start the weather and make it remember it's autumn.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15We needed something a little more unsettled and wetter

0:00:15 > 0:00:17and windier.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18Also, at this time of year,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20into the mix come the storms

0:00:20 > 0:00:22that move across the Atlantic.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Both tropical storms and hurricane status.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25This was Karl

0:00:25 > 0:00:27that brushed to the east of Bermuda.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30As it pushes across the cooler waters,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32it loses its storm identity,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35but it does interject some extra energy

0:00:35 > 0:00:36into the atmosphere

0:00:36 > 0:00:39and can bring some unseasonably wetter

0:00:39 > 0:00:40and windier weather.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42For us, over the next few days, yes,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44there are areas of low pressure

0:00:44 > 0:00:46in the northwest and we'll see gales

0:00:46 > 0:00:48to the extreme north of Scotland,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50but we're not too concerned

0:00:50 > 0:00:51about this causing an issue.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Elsewhere, it looks like Tuesday

0:00:53 > 0:00:56will be overcast with patchy rain.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Perhaps lingering in the far southeast.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01It's going to be mild,

0:01:01 > 0:01:02with the winds still coming

0:01:02 > 0:01:03from a south-westerly direction.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05The winds and some sharp showers

0:01:05 > 0:01:07continuing to the far north and west.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10That weather front will gradually meander

0:01:10 > 0:01:11south and east,

0:01:11 > 0:01:12but it is going to be replaced

0:01:12 > 0:01:14by another one again

0:01:14 > 0:01:15into the far north and west.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17This will bring yet more wet and windy weather

0:01:17 > 0:01:19to the northwest of the country.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21The isobars still bringing wind

0:01:21 > 0:01:22from a south-westerly direction,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24so it is going to be a pleasant day

0:01:24 > 0:01:26in terms of the feel of things of Wednesday.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28If we get more sunshine,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30we'll get more warmth into the southeast.

0:01:30 > 0:01:3222 degrees possible.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Even with the wind and rain further northwest,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37we could see highs of 19 into Belfast.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38A pleasant day

0:01:38 > 0:01:40in terms of the feel of things on Wednesday.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44But once the next weather front clears through,

0:01:44 > 0:01:45it will start to introduce

0:01:45 > 0:01:47something a bit fresher.

0:01:47 > 0:01:48The warm air reverts back

0:01:48 > 0:01:50to the near continent

0:01:50 > 0:01:52and we start to see something more seasonal.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Temperatures where they should be

0:01:54 > 0:01:55for this time of year.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56On Thursday,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58we'll see a weather front clearing away,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00the rain weakening,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03and blustery showers likely behind.

0:02:03 > 0:02:0611 to 18 degrees, the high.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Similar story into Friday.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10Perhaps fewer showers and some sunshine,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12but it will be a blustery day

0:02:12 > 0:02:14and it will feel noticeably fresher

0:02:14 > 0:02:16than it has done of late.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17Little change as we move

0:02:17 > 0:02:19into the start of the weekend.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21There's potential for seeing more rain

0:02:21 > 0:02:23up into the extreme north and west.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Some sunshine coming through

0:02:25 > 0:02:27across England and Wales,

0:02:27 > 0:02:28but 11 to 18 degrees.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30That could be a shock to the system

0:02:30 > 0:02:32if you're out and about,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33particularly on exposed coasts

0:02:33 > 0:02:35when you factor in the strength of the wind.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37It may well not have escaped your attention

0:02:37 > 0:02:40that Saturday is the turn of the month, October 1st,

0:02:40 > 0:02:44and we start to introduce something slightly fresher

0:02:44 > 0:02:46right across the country.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Perhaps the far southeast just clinging on to the milder air,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52but it does look like things will start to feel noticeably different.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54The jet stream?

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Well, that's sitting up into the north and west

0:02:56 > 0:02:57over the next few days,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59so that will always steer low pressure systems

0:02:59 > 0:03:02up into the north-western half of the country.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Further south, we could still remain

0:03:04 > 0:03:05under the influence of high pressure

0:03:05 > 0:03:09and that could bring in something a bit milder

0:03:09 > 0:03:11as we get to the longer six-to-ten-day period.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14So some sunshine into the southeast,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16and hopefully temperatures will return back

0:03:16 > 0:03:19to slightly above average for the early half of October,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21but, the further north and west you go,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23always the risk of further areas of low pressure,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25wetter and windier weather,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27and here something just that little bit fresher.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29More details later on.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34Need a medic. Humanitarian mission on the Somali border.
