1:31:32 > 1:31:35Hello there. Very little rain to speak of in the week ahead.
1:31:35 > 1:31:36A lot of dry weather to be had
1:31:36 > 1:31:39and good opportunities for getting out and about.
1:31:39 > 1:31:42We'll get on to that, but we're going to start off in the Caribbean,
1:31:42 > 1:31:45because we have a very powerful hurricane, Hurricane Matthew,
1:31:45 > 1:31:49a category 4, heading north towards Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and eventually
1:31:49 > 1:31:50the Bahamas.
1:31:50 > 1:31:54Really destructive weather in this part of the world, the one to watch.
1:31:54 > 1:31:56On our shores, things are much quieter.
1:31:56 > 1:31:58We've got a large area of high pressure across Scandinavia
1:31:58 > 1:32:01extending down across the United Kingdom.
1:32:01 > 1:32:03That will dominate our weather, and it will help to
1:32:03 > 1:32:06keep those Atlantic weather fronts out in the Atlantic.
1:32:06 > 1:32:08It may well be a cold start to Monday,
1:32:08 > 1:32:10a touch of frost for some and some patchy fog, too.
1:32:10 > 1:32:13The fog should lift my mid to late morning,
1:32:13 > 1:32:15and then it's going to be a beautiful afternoon across most
1:32:15 > 1:32:17places with some lengthy spells of sunshine
1:32:17 > 1:32:19and temperatures round about 16 degrees for Glasgow
1:32:19 > 1:32:23and Belfast, 17, 18, maybe 19 degrees for Cardiff and London,
1:32:23 > 1:32:25a little bit warmer than we saw on Sunday.
1:32:25 > 1:32:29Through Monday night and on into Tuesday, it stays pretty quiet.
1:32:29 > 1:32:31These weather fronts are trying to push into the north and west
1:32:31 > 1:32:33but don't make much progress.
1:32:33 > 1:32:36We might see a spot of rain in the Western Isles.
1:32:36 > 1:32:38Not quite so cold to start the day on Tuesday, with more of a breeze,
1:32:38 > 1:32:41major towns and cities just about into double figures.
1:32:41 > 1:32:44Rural spots will slip into single figures, but not too low.
1:32:44 > 1:32:46It should be frost-free first thing on Tuesday,
1:32:46 > 1:32:49but it will be a decent day for most places once again.
1:32:49 > 1:32:51We've still got the high across Scandinavia influencing
1:32:51 > 1:32:53the weather across the UK. A fair number of isobars.
1:32:53 > 1:32:56It will be a breezy day but a bright and breezy day with good
1:32:56 > 1:32:58spells of sunshine throughout the day.
1:32:58 > 1:33:02And that weather front still might just bring the odd spot of rain to
1:33:02 > 1:33:05the far north-west, but I think most places will have another dry day.
1:33:05 > 1:33:09And again, it's 16 degrees for Glasgow, Belfast, 17, 18,
1:33:09 > 1:33:12maybe 19 degrees in the London area.
1:33:12 > 1:33:14And then, as we get on to the middle of the week,
1:33:14 > 1:33:17a subtle change in the orientation of the high over Scandinavia
1:33:17 > 1:33:19brings more of an easterly breeze down from the Baltic Sea,
1:33:19 > 1:33:22across the North Sea towards our shores
1:33:22 > 1:33:25and turns south-easterly and helps to push that weather front away
1:33:25 > 1:33:27towards the north and west.
1:33:27 > 1:33:29It may well drag in some lower cloud for the east coast on
1:33:29 > 1:33:32Wednesday and maybe the odd spot of rain to go with that,
1:33:32 > 1:33:34and temperatures just easing back by a few degrees.
1:33:34 > 1:33:38And still quite breezy on into Thursday but still we've got
1:33:38 > 1:33:40that high pressure influencing our weather.
1:33:40 > 1:33:43Still quite breezy, still a number of isobars there on the chart.
1:33:43 > 1:33:46And again, that breeze coming in from the North Sea could drag in
1:33:46 > 1:33:48some low cloud and the odd spot of light rain and drizzle.
1:33:48 > 1:33:50Away from that, it's fine and dry, broken cloud,
1:33:50 > 1:33:52and we'll see some good spells of sunshine.
1:33:52 > 1:33:55And again, top temperatures round about the middle to maybe the
1:33:55 > 1:33:57high teens for a few spots.
1:33:57 > 1:33:59And then, towards the end of the week, we've still got that
1:33:59 > 1:34:01easterly breeze, weather fronts
1:34:01 > 1:34:04trying to come in from the Atlantic but not really making much progress.
1:34:04 > 1:34:07The breeze once again from the North Sea could bring
1:34:07 > 1:34:09a little bit of extra low cloud and maybe
1:34:09 > 1:34:11a little bit of rainfall, but away from the east coast,
1:34:11 > 1:34:12it's dry and it's bright,
1:34:12 > 1:34:15and temperatures will be around about 15 or 16 degrees once again.
1:34:15 > 1:34:17And even into next weekend,
1:34:17 > 1:34:20the overall pattern doesn't change all that much.
1:34:20 > 1:34:23We've still got that high across Scandinavia really dominating
1:34:23 > 1:34:26things, bringing that east or south-easterly breeze and
1:34:26 > 1:34:27keeping things fine and dry.
1:34:27 > 1:34:29It is a blocking high across Scandinavia,
1:34:29 > 1:34:31and if you take a look at the jet stream,
1:34:31 > 1:34:34you can see it's just snaking its way around out in the Atlantic.
1:34:34 > 1:34:36Not a strong and powerful westerly,
1:34:36 > 1:34:40which would help to shift that blocking high, but there are signs
1:34:40 > 1:34:43as we look towards about nine or ten days from now that we may
1:34:43 > 1:34:44well begin to see slow changes,
1:34:44 > 1:34:47a slow change to more of a westerly wind,
1:34:47 > 1:34:50which will bring some more unsettled weather from the Atlantic.
1:34:50 > 1:34:54We'll see some spells of wind and rain developing as we look towards
1:34:54 > 1:34:55the middle of October.
1:34:55 > 1:34:58That's not unusual for this time of the year. Bye for now.
