0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. If you've been keeping up to date

0:00:05 > 0:00:07with our long-range forecast over the past few days,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10you'll probably recall that we had been thinking Hurricane Matthew,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12which is a very dangerous storm at the moment

0:00:12 > 0:00:13out in the western Atlantic,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15may well head towards our shores

0:00:15 > 0:00:18and influence our weather perhaps in the next ten days or so.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20Now, it now looks more likely that this hurricane

0:00:20 > 0:00:24will start to interact with another tropical storm, Nicole,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26that you can also see there on the satellite image,

0:00:26 > 0:00:29probably decaying somewhere in the west Atlantic,

0:00:29 > 0:00:33rather than moving across to influence our weather.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Meanwhile, closer to home, we've got an area of high pressure

0:00:35 > 0:00:38situated across Scandinavia.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41The winds drawing in to the south of that from an easterly direction,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43importing some cooler conditions than we have seen.

0:00:43 > 0:00:47So cooler air on the way from some northern parts of Europe.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Let's take a look at Friday, then. Quite a cloudy story.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53That cloud moving its way east to west across the country,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55bringing some outbreaks of drizzly rain.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58The best of any brightness on Friday will be in the north-west,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00so the west of Scotland, north-west England

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and western parts of Wales, too.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04But it is feeling a little cooler than it has done.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07With all that cloud around, though, and outbreaks of drizzly rain,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09it is looking reasonably mild

0:01:09 > 0:01:11as we head through Friday night and on into Saturday.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14There could be the odd misty patch around first thing.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16A bit of a murky start to the day. But for most of us,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19those temperatures will be in double figures.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21So we're not looking at any frost first thing Saturday.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Now, through the weekend, no great changes in the weather,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26due to the fact that we've still got the same set-up,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28high-pressure across Scandinavia,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31an easterly breeze coming in from the likes of northern Poland,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33where temperatures are on the chilly side.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35There will be one or two showers heading in,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37particularly later on in the weekend.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Let's just take a look at the air mass

0:01:39 > 0:01:41during the course of Saturday and Sunday.

0:01:41 > 0:01:42You can see the blue colours,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45they're going to start to drift across the UK.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47The milder air that has been with us recently

0:01:47 > 0:01:49is pushed out towards the Atlantic.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52So we start Saturday, then, quite a bit of cloud around,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54a few drizzly showers here and there.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56The sunshine, as you can see, will start to break

0:01:56 > 0:01:59a few holes in the cloud as we head through the day.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01But fairly cool and cloudy around the east coast,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04with a chance of some showers developing in the south-east

0:02:04 > 0:02:07and temperatures around 13 to 17 degrees.

0:02:07 > 0:02:08Feeling a bit cooler than that

0:02:08 > 0:02:11when you're exposed to the easterly breeze.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13During Sunday, a very similar day once again.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15It's eastern and south-eastern parts of the country

0:02:15 > 0:02:17that will continue to see a feed of a few showers.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21Quite cloudy here and rather cool under that cloud - 12 to 16.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Best of the brightness towards the west.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Into the new working week, it's spot the difference.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28So again, we've got a relatively settled picture,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30with high-pressure across Scandinavia dominating things.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33We'll start to see an area of lower pressure, though,

0:02:33 > 0:02:34moving in from the near continent.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36So that could well bring some heavier showers,

0:02:36 > 0:02:40perhaps some hail and some thunder across some eastern areas.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43And temperatures will be dipping down by a degree or two,

0:02:43 > 0:02:44just 11 to 15 degrees.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Tuesday, a similar day.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Lots of dry weather, fairly light winds for most of us,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50breezy and cool around the east coast,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52with a few showers in the east.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56Temperatures generally only around 12 to 16 degrees or so.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Now, the reason that things are so settled

0:02:58 > 0:03:00is because the jet stream is pretty active out there

0:03:00 > 0:03:03in the north and the western Atlantic.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06But across our shores, the jet stream is nowhere to be seen.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08We've got a blocking pattern here.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10And that means we've just not got that drive

0:03:10 > 0:03:13to push weather systems across the UK.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15It does look, by the end of the period, that we could see

0:03:15 > 0:03:18some lower pressure just pushing in from the near continent.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21But generally, the outlook is a cool and a cloudy one.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24The brightest weather always found towards the west

0:03:24 > 0:03:26and there will be some scattered showers at times.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28No great changes in the forecast

0:03:28 > 0:03:29over the next ten days.
