0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello there. The main weather story we have been talking about

0:00:06 > 0:00:08over the past week or so has been Hurricane Matthew

0:00:08 > 0:00:11in the western Atlantic. It is still pounding

0:00:11 > 0:00:13the coast of Florida, bringing big waves,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16very damaging winds and exceptionally heavy

0:00:16 > 0:00:17rainfall as well.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19We are set to see this storm continued to push

0:00:19 > 0:00:21a little bit further northwards then north-eastwards

0:00:21 > 0:00:24and eventually it will clear out into the Atlantic.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25We were thinking earlier in the week

0:00:25 > 0:00:27it could head towards our shores

0:00:27 > 0:00:28but we're now more confident

0:00:28 > 0:00:30the storm will probably fade away

0:00:30 > 0:00:32somewhere in the West Atlantic.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Closer to home, our main influence

0:00:34 > 0:00:36to our weather is this big area

0:00:36 > 0:00:38of high pressure which has established itself

0:00:38 > 0:00:41across Scandinavia. That will stick around

0:00:41 > 0:00:43for the next 10 days or so,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45so slight variations in the weather

0:00:45 > 0:00:47but not a great amount of change.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49What we are seeing is an easterly flow of air.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52You can see the blue colours moving across the country

0:00:52 > 0:00:53through the course of the weekend.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55That's an indication that we've got

0:00:55 > 0:00:57colder conditions moving in, and a bit

0:00:57 > 0:00:58of a drop in those temperatures.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Things are going to be feeling

0:01:00 > 0:01:01quite autumnal through the weekend.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03A bit of a mixed picture, for many of us,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05a lot of dry weather with some sunshine.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06The best of the sunshine on Saturday

0:01:06 > 0:01:08will be for northern and western areas,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10more in the way of cloud lingering

0:01:10 > 0:01:11through central and eastern parts

0:01:11 > 0:01:13and here we're more likely to catch a shower,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15particularly in the south-east.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Temperatures around 13 to 17 degrees.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21As we head through Saturday night and on into Sunday,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23it will be turning fairly chilly

0:01:23 > 0:01:26with less in the way of cloud acting as

0:01:26 > 0:01:28a blanket as we move through into Sunday morning,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30so a bit of mist and a bit of fog,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32potentially some frost too first thing Sunday morning,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35but where we do have the cloud sticking around

0:01:35 > 0:01:37we'll see temperatures in some towns and cities

0:01:37 > 0:01:38staying in double figures.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41So Sunday starts off on a fairly quiet note.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Similar to Saturday, it will be central

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and eastern parts that will have more in the way

0:01:45 > 0:01:47of cloud with the odd shower

0:01:47 > 0:01:48just working east to west,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50but northern and western parts is where you're likely

0:01:50 > 0:01:53to see drier weather and some sunshine,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55lighter winds here too

0:01:55 > 0:01:59and temperatures on the cool side at 12-17 degrees or so.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02A similar day once again for Monday.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03We will continue to see a few blustery showers

0:02:03 > 0:02:05for East Anglia and the south-east of England,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08quite cool by the time we get to Monday,

0:02:08 > 0:02:1111-15 degrees with again the brightest conditions

0:02:11 > 0:02:13always to be found furthest west.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14A similar day again on Tuesday,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16spot the difference this week.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Across central and eastern areas where you've got

0:02:18 > 0:02:20the cloud by day, it will feel fairly cool,

0:02:20 > 0:02:21but milder overnight.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Towards the North West with the clearer skies,

0:02:24 > 0:02:25we are in for warmer days

0:02:25 > 0:02:27but chillier conditions overnight.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29A similar picture on Wednesday,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31a lot of dry weather once again.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33That easterly breeze making things feel chilly

0:02:33 > 0:02:34and if you're around the East Coast,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36some showers once again towards the east.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Further west, sunnier spells

0:02:38 > 0:02:41and temperatures generally around 12-15 degrees.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43So this is how we set up towards the end of the week,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46low pressure towards the west or south-west,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48high-pressure towards the north and north-east.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50This is a bit of a change to what

0:02:50 > 0:02:52we typically see this time of year.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Usually we see a big area of high pressure,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55the Azores High, which is

0:02:55 > 0:02:57established to the south-west.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Low pressure normally towards the north of the country

0:03:00 > 0:03:03with relatively mild winds coming off the Atlantic,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05but what we're seeing at the moment

0:03:05 > 0:03:06and through much of the week ahead

0:03:06 > 0:03:08is that area of high pressure

0:03:08 > 0:03:10sitting towards the north of the UK

0:03:10 > 0:03:12bringing settled conditions.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14Low pressure towards the south-west

0:03:14 > 0:03:16may bring more showery weather in the south for a time,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19but it is also drawing in this cool easterly breeze

0:03:19 > 0:03:21from northern and eastern parts of Europe.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23So, the outlook over the next 10 days or so,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26lots of dry weather, brightest towards the west,

0:03:26 > 0:03:27still a few showers

0:03:27 > 0:03:29and occasional mist and fog overnight.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Bye-bye.
