0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Weather patterns across the UK
0:00:05 > 0:00:07set to become static - blocked - once again.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09What that means is the weather is not going to change a huge amount
0:00:09 > 0:00:12through the rest of this week. If you're in eastern England
0:00:12 > 0:00:13you're most likely to see showers on and off.
0:00:13 > 0:00:16They're not quite as heavy as you'll see on Wednesday.
0:00:16 > 0:00:18Elsewhere, generally dry story,
0:00:18 > 0:00:21but we could see some rather cool nights and some misty mornings
0:00:21 > 0:00:22to take us through the week.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24The reason things are becoming static is this -
0:00:24 > 0:00:27it's the remnants of Hurricane Nicole,
0:00:27 > 0:00:29long-lasting named storm in the Atlantic -
0:00:29 > 0:00:31as it pushed into the North Atlantic,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33it takes huge amounts of snow into Greenland over the next few days
0:00:33 > 0:00:36but it drags up lots of warm air on its eastern flank
0:00:36 > 0:00:38and it's that which helps to build this -
0:00:38 > 0:00:41an area of high pressure to the west which will hang around for a while.
0:00:41 > 0:00:44Notice to the east we have low pressure also stranded -
0:00:44 > 0:00:47that will have an impact across eastern areas,
0:00:47 > 0:00:48certainly see showers again on Wednesday.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50Some of those heavy later on.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52Further west, some good sunny spells.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54Starting off with a few showers round western areas,
0:00:54 > 0:00:57fewer in number by the end of the afternoon,
0:00:57 > 0:00:58Wales and the south-west fairly well scattered.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01Temperatures across western areas - because the winds are lighter,
0:01:01 > 0:01:03a little bit warmer than Tuesday,
0:01:03 > 0:01:05but pretty chilly down the east coast.
0:01:05 > 0:01:06The winds could touch gale force
0:01:06 > 0:01:08and by the end of the afternoon the showers could get heavier.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11Thunder too, lasting into the evening.
0:01:11 > 0:01:14The showers continue as we go through Wednesday night.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17Further west, one or two showers clipping in towards Pembrokeshire,
0:01:17 > 0:01:19down towards Cornwall, Isles of Scilly,
0:01:19 > 0:01:21maybe the odd one in the Channel Islands.
0:01:21 > 0:01:24Many will be dry with some clear skies around.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26Temperatures by night across Western areas dropping night by night -
0:01:26 > 0:01:28that's because the wind's a bit lighter
0:01:28 > 0:01:32and with clear skies, a touch of frost to some into Thursday morning.
0:01:32 > 0:01:33So here's the chart for Thursday.
0:01:33 > 0:01:35High pressure firmly to the west of the UK -
0:01:35 > 0:01:37actually, over much of the UK.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40That low pressure still stranded across the southern North Sea
0:01:40 > 0:01:42feeding in a cool breeze down these eastern coasts.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45Maybe a little bit lighter than Wednesday,
0:01:45 > 0:01:47the showers also lighter and fewer in number.
0:01:47 > 0:01:49In fact, most of you will have a dry day on Thursday.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51Not especially warm, but in the sunshine
0:01:51 > 0:01:55and with just a gentle breeze, that sun is still strong enough
0:01:55 > 0:01:57to make it feel pleasant, certainly, outside.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59As we go through into Friday,
0:01:59 > 0:02:01high pressure starts to nose away just a little bit.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04Still firmly in control, but it does allow a weather front
0:02:04 > 0:02:07just to clip Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09Risk of cloud and patchy rain here.
0:02:09 > 0:02:11Still a few showers down eastern areas, fairly light,
0:02:11 > 0:02:14lots of brightness and a bit of sunshine in between.
0:02:14 > 0:02:16So the ridge of high pressure is moving back into Scandinavia
0:02:16 > 0:02:18by the weekend - it's still with us,
0:02:18 > 0:02:21but with more of an easterly flow developing across the country -
0:02:21 > 0:02:24easterly or southeasterly depending on where you are -
0:02:24 > 0:02:25that continues to feed cloud
0:02:25 > 0:02:28and one or two showers into eastern Scotland and eastern England.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30Further west always drier and brighter.
0:02:30 > 0:02:33Breeze picks up, so the mist not so much of a problem in the morning.
0:02:33 > 0:02:36That'll be the case, too, on Sunday, especially across Wales
0:02:36 > 0:02:38and the south-west, where some of the windiest weather will be.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41Fewer showers in the east than Saturday, most will be dry,
0:02:41 > 0:02:44best of the sunshine in the north and the west.
0:02:44 > 0:02:45Now as we finish Sunday,
0:02:45 > 0:02:48high pressure to the north of us, low pressure towards the south.
0:02:48 > 0:02:52This will have a little bit of impact as we go into next week,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54but generally, high pressure holds on.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57But with that low pressure system south and high pressure north
0:02:57 > 0:03:00we continue with the feed of generally easterly winds
0:03:00 > 0:03:02and as we saw to start October,
0:03:02 > 0:03:04doesn't lead to especially warm weather.
0:03:04 > 0:03:06The one uncertainty is whether we see weather fronts
0:03:06 > 0:03:08pushing round this low to the south-west,
0:03:08 > 0:03:10which could just clip in rain at times
0:03:10 > 0:03:13across southern parts of England and Wales especially,
0:03:13 > 0:03:14always drive further north.
0:03:14 > 0:03:17Beyond that, exactly where that high pressure ends up
0:03:17 > 0:03:18depends on the weather conditions.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20We'll look at that over the coming nights.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23But this week into next week, a blocked pattern develops.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25Compared to what we should see in October
0:03:25 > 0:03:28it will be drier than normal, but those easterly winds
0:03:28 > 0:03:30will maintain a fairly cool feel. Bye for now.
