0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. This week has been driven along
0:00:03 > 0:00:05with a fairly consistent weather pattern -
0:00:05 > 0:00:07early morning frost and fog lifting away
0:00:07 > 0:00:09to allow for some sunny spells
0:00:09 > 0:00:11and certainly some dry, decent weather.
0:00:11 > 0:00:14And in fact, we were topping and tailing the country on Friday
0:00:14 > 0:00:18with some sunshine - a beautiful story across the Northern Isles
0:00:18 > 0:00:20and, as you can see, into Cornwall as well.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22Beautiful spells of sunshine.
0:00:22 > 0:00:26Sandwiched in between the two, however, there was early morning fog
0:00:26 > 0:00:28and certainly some cloud that sat throughout the day
0:00:28 > 0:00:32with a few nuisance showers across much of eastern England.
0:00:32 > 0:00:35I've just pretty much described the majority of the month so far -
0:00:35 > 0:00:40in fact, most of the rain this month has been across eastern fringes.
0:00:40 > 0:00:43Further west it has been very dry indeed -
0:00:43 > 0:00:47we've hardly seen any significant rainfall so far this month.
0:00:47 > 0:00:48And it doesn't look as though
0:00:48 > 0:00:51we're going to see much change as we move into the weekend.
0:00:51 > 0:00:55Yes, we could start off with some patchy fog and some frost,
0:00:55 > 0:00:58but some decent dry weather in the story,
0:00:58 > 0:01:01some sunny spells coming through, and just a scattering of showers
0:01:01 > 0:01:03running in off North Sea coasts, which may well drift
0:01:03 > 0:01:05a little further inland.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07Top temperatures of about 10-15 degrees,
0:01:07 > 0:01:10slightly below where they should be for this time of year.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14As we go through Saturday night we continue to see clearer skies
0:01:14 > 0:01:17and there is the possibility, with lighter winds inland,
0:01:17 > 0:01:20of seeing more stubborn, dense fog patches around
0:01:20 > 0:01:22first thing on Sunday morning.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25It's going to be another chilly start, a grey, drab story -
0:01:25 > 0:01:29whether it's fog or low cloud, it's not going to be very pleasant.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31But conditions will improve.
0:01:31 > 0:01:33The fog will lift, some sunshine come through,
0:01:33 > 0:01:36and again, a dry theme. But this area of low pressure,
0:01:36 > 0:01:39well, that will increase the wind strength down to the south-west
0:01:39 > 0:01:42and eventually by the end of Sunday bring some rain.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45But you can see on Sunday, not a bad story.
0:01:45 > 0:01:46If you've got outdoor plans,
0:01:46 > 0:01:49I don't think you'll be disappointed with this weather theme.
0:01:49 > 0:01:539-14 degrees, you'll need a couple of extra layers, perhaps.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56So as we move out of Sunday into Monday,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58there is the potential for that low pressure
0:01:58 > 0:02:00to bring some more persistent rain for a time,
0:02:00 > 0:02:02but only into southern areas,
0:02:02 > 0:02:05and again, it's not expected to last.
0:02:05 > 0:02:08So it will bring some rain, some of it heavy for a time,
0:02:08 > 0:02:10and then that will weaken off substantially on Monday.
0:02:10 > 0:02:12So there's going to be outbreaks of showery rain
0:02:12 > 0:02:14through South Wales and southern England,
0:02:14 > 0:02:17but exactly where that's going to be sitting
0:02:17 > 0:02:19is still open to some debate.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22But as we move out of Monday into Tuesday,
0:02:22 > 0:02:24high pressure set to build across the country,
0:02:24 > 0:02:27and that's going to push weather fronts in to the north and west,
0:02:27 > 0:02:30so we could see a slightly more mobile situation
0:02:30 > 0:02:32into the extreme north-west of the country.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35Here, where we've seen some beautiful weather of late,
0:02:35 > 0:02:36it will turn wetter and windier.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38So on Wednesday, more significant rainfall
0:02:38 > 0:02:40into Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:02:40 > 0:02:43Further south it stays largely fine and dry -
0:02:43 > 0:02:4612-15 degrees the high.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49So that high pressure looks likely to be the feature
0:02:49 > 0:02:51as we move through the middle of the week.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53However, it is going to change a little.
0:02:53 > 0:02:57We lose that mobile, brief mobile flow,
0:02:57 > 0:02:59as that high pressure starts to build,
0:02:59 > 0:03:01so the lows that we've seen bringing the wet and windy weather
0:03:01 > 0:03:04into the north-west through the middle of the week will ease away,
0:03:04 > 0:03:06the high pressure builds
0:03:06 > 0:03:10and becomes the driving force in the weather story once more.
0:03:10 > 0:03:14So it looks as though we could close out the month of October
0:03:14 > 0:03:15pretty much as the month has been.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Not much change around - some morning fog and frost,
0:03:19 > 0:03:20but largely dry,
0:03:20 > 0:03:23with some beautiful, if we're lucky, autumn sunshine.
0:03:23 > 0:03:27At least the trees will start to look really quite splendid.
0:03:27 > 0:03:28Enjoy your weekend.
