0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. The weather for the week ahead

0:00:03 > 0:00:05is starting off on quite a slow note.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Then we get some stronger winds, more mobility towards the end

0:00:08 > 0:00:11of next week, before high pressure comes into play

0:00:11 > 0:00:12over the weekend.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14This is what we have at the moment, though.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Sunday morning sees some mist, fog,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19low cloud slowly lifting as the breeze freshens.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22That easterly still introducing a few showers,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25mainly to eastern Scotland and north-east England.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27But a largely dry day for western Scotland,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29some sunshine after the chilly start,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31but feeling cold in eastern Scotland

0:00:31 > 0:00:32with that breeze and a lot of cloud

0:00:32 > 0:00:35and showers and generally across the northern half of the UK

0:00:35 > 0:00:37temperatures will be lower than they were on Saturday,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39but not a bad day for Northern Ireland.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Maybe not as many showers across northern England

0:00:42 > 0:00:45and south of here after that grey, boggy morning,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47we should see it brightening up

0:00:47 > 0:00:48as the breeze freshens into the afternoon.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Not many showers across southern areas,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52but there is some rain lurking in the channel

0:00:52 > 0:00:54and that will spill its way northwards,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56some showery rain chiefly to affect

0:00:56 > 0:00:58the south-west of England overnight.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Ahead of it, still a few showers for eastern Scotland,

0:01:01 > 0:01:02the far north-east of England,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04but away from here, it will be quite chilly.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06A pinch of frost again possible.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09One or two mist and fog patches as well.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11So that's how we start the new week, then.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13We've got this area of low pressure

0:01:13 > 0:01:15not far away from Spain, actually.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18It's a long way away, but it's throwing these weather fronts

0:01:18 > 0:01:21our way, bringing with it the chance of some showery rain.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Further north, we've still got the easterly breezes.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Any frost and fog lifting,

0:01:26 > 0:01:27some sunshine for northern areas.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30A chance of this showery rain, though, and still some uncertainty

0:01:30 > 0:01:33drifting northwards, perhaps getting into south Wales,

0:01:33 > 0:01:36maybe the south Midlands later on in the day.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37Elsewhere, though, a lot of dry weather,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39fewer showers in eastern Scotland,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42some sunshine and temperatures again 10-11 in the north,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45possibly 14 in the south where we'll have much more cloud

0:01:45 > 0:01:47and the chance of those showers.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Everything sort of pulls away, really, though, on Tuesday.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51Very slack air flow.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54That means where you do break the cloud, you'll get mist and fog.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56That low pressure's moving away.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58There's another one approaching the far north-west later on,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00so a fairly quiet day.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03I think it'll be much brighter and drier in eastern Scotland

0:02:03 > 0:02:05and north-east England, losing the showers here.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09Still one or two residual showers and more cloud left in the south,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11but most of the rain and cloud comes in on that weather front there,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14together with the strengthening winds.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16That will then push outbreaks of rain,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18chiefly across the northern half of the country

0:02:18 > 0:02:21as we run through Wednesday. To the south,

0:02:21 > 0:02:22if the cloud does break,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24that's going to lead to some mist and fog

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and maybe the odd pocket of frost as well,

0:02:26 > 0:02:29but still some reasonable temperatures here, 14 or 15,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30and beginning to lift the temperatures

0:02:30 > 0:02:32across the north as well,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34because we're getting an Atlantic influence

0:02:34 > 0:02:36that comes in around the top of this area of high pressure,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39so Atlantic winds are that bit milder.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Still quite blustery though for northern parts of the UK.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Rain towards the far north-west of Scotland,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45the Northern Isles as well,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47otherwise it looks like it's going to be dry.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Reasonable temperatures, but again,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51a chilly start where we have clear skies.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Some mist and fog too, close to the area of high pressure.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Let's look further ahead, then.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58It all hinges on what happens

0:02:58 > 0:03:00with this area of high pressure.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02It looks like it should tend to build up

0:03:02 > 0:03:04from the south. The centre of the high, though,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07may migrate into Europe,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09allowing the wind to pick up in the north-west

0:03:09 > 0:03:11and some weather fronts to arrive,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13but as we head towards the end of the month,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15where we have the high pressure,

0:03:15 > 0:03:16frost and fog will be slow to lift,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19otherwise there'll be some dry weather and some sunshine,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21but then right at the end of the month,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24we could see a freshening breeze and that may introduce

0:03:24 > 0:03:27some outbreaks of rain into the north-west later on.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28That's it from me. Goodbye.
